15ki's first performance with MM - Seishun Night!
Homare has really captivating eyes. Mei's smile is great. And despite her struggling quite a bit during the lesson, Rio's performance was good.

I'm like, beyond infatuated with Rio. I have no idea what it is about her that's drawing me in. I don't want to make any grand declarations, but I think once Sakura leaves, I'll have my 3rd (#1) Oshi in Morning Musume. (First was Kago, then Sakura.)

I'm too tired to cut it, but around 49:30 15ki's Suki na Senpai starts.
Looking really forward to how this generation grows. Of course they're a bit rough, but they already have voices full of potential and aren't tone deaf.
Mei is a bit shouty but she's also the youngest so maybe she'll grow out of it.

Rio is really good for someone without recording experience. Like, really good. Not amazing, but she's got so much potential. Homare in comparison isn't bad but more on the cute side.

Homare's voice is definitely cute but sounds good to me.

Homare's voice is cute but it's like... naturally cute. Know what I mean? Like it's not the forced, shouty, squeaky idol cute that so many of the girls go for. She just has a cute voice when singing and speaking. I actually really like her singing. I see a lot of potential in that voice as she grows.
Ha ha, this is almost verbatim what I was thinking while watching this. Her voice is so stinking cute, but it's honest cute. It's just her. I love it. I like both of these girls more than I can remember liking any n00bs since... well, Sakura, anyway. 15th is like the anti-12th.

It sounds like they could have had a song as bomb as Dokyuu no Go Sign, but then they wanted to make the song sound like it belongs in one of their plays.
I don't dislike Rio, but I guess I haven't stuck to her quite as much as others here. I also have been a fan of Homare since the first behind-the-scenes of their auditions. I like her voice because you can tell she's actually trying to go low but her natural voice is so high and it just... works....
Altogether I agree, I'm excited for 15ki. But I'm holding my breath on getting to see them shine since management seems bent on stunting new members.

Performance of Hey! Unfair Baby with studio audio
Ignoring that the song is a real lackluster...
...it's nice to see 15ki performing with the group. They certainly are fresh, but not as unpolished as I thought.
(Also: 13ki are quite good as well. At two years they're much more exciting on stage than a lot of recent additions have been at the same time.)

To be fair he also has no connection to the girls post Sakura. Reading through the anniversary interviews it's been obvious how much he knew about the older gens. When he was told to write a Maria centric song, Sou Janai, it became obvious that he really didn't know what to do. I think that's why the latest songs have been rather insubstantial.

I have to admit, the song grew on me a bit more with all the added vocal layers that the final song has (compared to the recording.)
But I stand by my judgement that it's a knock-off Dokyuu no Go Sign. Don't imitate perfection.
SLIGHTLY OFF TOPIC BUT I have to add that the live performance did make me happy for a few reasons:
-actually good styling for once, wtf? MM's costumes are usually all horrible. While classically tacky, these are actually amazing as costumes, and the hairstyles and different looks actually give an atmosphere to the performance... as they should...
-15ki gets proper line and center time on their debut song
-Proper use of the stage levels for formations ughhhh ya

I don't think this ever got posted, but Mei's recording of Hey! Unfair Baby was also featured on Upcoming. Here it is.
It's so refreshing to have new girls that don't completely suck at singing in Morning Musume.
