The new episode is airing in a few hours in Japan, so lets get this started! Short of alien invasion or the icecaps melting, there should be no delays on my part this time.

The premise of this thread is that you (yes, you!) can add any lines or make corrections wherever you wish, even if it's just one line. To put it one way, it's like the collaboration that goes on on a wiki, but without the wiki software. Or to put it another way, it's like the collaboration that'd go on on open source software.

There are [/will be] a lot of holes, but every little bit helps and I'm asking everyone here to expand this if they can. Don't worry about timing anything; we'll do that later. The timestamps on this are just rough guidelines to show where in the episode the lines should go.

I figure that the number that can half-ass understand what's going on is somewhat high, at least much higher than the number of people who have a full understanding and are able to take the time to do a full translation.

Just a few guidelines to make the process smooth:
Added: - If you edit your previous post to correct the translation, mark it either by bolding the new version or striking out the old one. This will help update the timed script without missing anything.
- If you're planning to spend more time translating a longer section of the episode, make a post saying which times are you covering (eg. 2:30 - 6:00) so someone doesn't double your work at the same time. Once you're done edit your post and paste the translation.
- If there's a longer gap between the dialogues, insert a new timestamp.
- If you're skipping one line in the middle of an otherwise translated dialogue, make sure to mark it (a bunch of "???" or "..." will do).
- For now, do not mark who says what unless necessary, it makes inserting the lines into a timed script harder.
- When you spot a mis-translation, correct it!
- Focus on getting the meaning accurate, don't worry if the translation becomes too wordy or awkward. Editors will fix that.
- Enjoy, because you're awesome for contributing even one line.

Plan for today's lesson:

1. Keep checking the general SJG thread where someone will hopefully post yt links after the show airs.
2. As Al suggested, create a quick and dirty translation of the whole episode. This is the stage where everyone is especially welcome to contribute.
3. Once that's done, Al goes over the script and rewrites it if necessary.
4. In the meantime, translate the complete opening credits. I know that majority of the names are the same from episode to episode, but as they keep moving them around having them all written out makes typesetting much easier.
5. Also translate the signs. Use common sense to determine which need translating, or wait until I post a collage of signs requiring translation once I get my hands on the episode.

Here is everything but the recap and the after talk. I'll work on the after talk when I get back home in a couple of hours and the recap once we have last weeks' episode done.

Episode start

It’s not strange!
I was definitely getting hit on!
You’re totally wrong. He was just asking directions to a café.
No way! When he saw me, hearts appeared in his eyes!
They looked more like this.
He was so cool…
You’re totally wrong!
Dammit. I can’t forgive that, even coming from Nina-sama!
It’s already starting this early, eh?
What’s going on here?
Don’t tell me it’s another case?
A huge case!
It couldn’t be… A robbery? Pickpocket?
Or could it be…
It is too a case!
What happened? What happened?
Well, it doesn’t matter the case. Just leave it up to me, Mami Shibuya!
Well, I guess I could leave it to you.
You see…
I was…
Hit on by a guy! This morning!
Oh… Hit on…
It was a misunderstanding…
Because I’m so cute,
He was a su-per hot guy~!
And that’s where you’re totally wrong!
He was just lost and looking for directions.
You don’t get it do you, Nina-sama?
He just used asking for directions as an excuse to talk to me.
Was it because I’m so cute?
That has to be the reason!
Do you get it now?
Yeah, I got it~
If it’s not a case, forget about it…

Ah, I’m just…
So cute I’m irresistible!
Your arrogance just turned a random incident into a big deal…
I heard everything you just said!
Random incident?
I’m sorry.

Well, our class kind of…
Has a lot of eccentric students in it…
But you'll quickly become friends with them.

It sounds nice but… I’m really shy…
Is that so?

Ah, that feels good…
Yeah, right there!
Do it a little harder.
Yes ma’am, as you wish.
Henchman, do mine next.
I’m… After her okay?
As you wish.
What the hell am I doing?

Everyone, good morning!
Good morning…
Ah, everyone listen up!
Okay, now then. Today I’ll introduce a new transfer student.
Alright! It’s okay, come on in!
This is…
Good morning!!!
Starting today, I’ll be with all of you!
I’m Tomoko Harajuku!
Not another weirdo…
I know it’s sudden, so I’ll apologize…
Forgive me-ow~!
But what am I apologizing for?
Well, I’m a real beauty, aren’t I?
So from today on, I’ll be the cutest girl in this class~
I so sorry, but let’s still be good friends, okay?
I was at a regular school before,
But people always said I was a genius.
So I got a scholarship to this math school and transferred here!

What’s going on here?
She calls herself cute…
Makes people go “ugh…”
Is super annoying...
It’s like déjà vu.
I don’t want to jump to any conclusions though…
I got it!
She’s Sayuri’s double!
I’m really shy but…
Since I’m really cute…
A rival, eh?
She’s saying all the wrong things…
A c-c-c-case!
Please call me “Tomochi,” okay!
Your turn!
I can’t hear you!
Do your best!
You did great!
Tomochi’s kitty-cute! Meow meow!
What the hell is up with this school?!?

OP credits

I’m super pissed! That damned transfer student!!!
I guess you’ll just have to power up some, right?
You mean you think I’m beneath her?!?
Wha? No, no! Sorry!
Don’t judge a book by its cover, Sayu.
But Nina-sama…
Your two characters are a lot alike, so you probably have a lot in common.
You should try talking to her to get to know her.
She said something wise for once…
I guess you’re right…
I’ll take Nina-sama’s advice.
I’ll try my best to become friends with her!

Hey, hey, Tomochi!
Do you understand this equation?
That’s Fibonacci’s sequence.
Everyone’s already accepted her.
How about this one?
That one is…
Tomoko-san, nice to meet you!
Ah! I know you!
You’re Sayuri-san, aren’t you?
You’re now the second cutest girl in class!
Now wait a damn minute!!!
Okay, okay, okay, okay…
You two need to get along.
Of course!
You’re Nina-san, right? You love tarako!
Not tarako!
Aren’t they the same?
They’re totally different!!!
Tarako is Alaskan pollock eggs that are preserved in salt.
Mentaiko is eggs flavored with cayenne pepper.

They’re totally different!
You got it?
I see…
I’m sorry.
It’s no big deal…
It’s all the same!
Okay, the next one!
The next is…
This one, this one!
Let’s see…
It’s the Archimedean property of real numbers!
Don’t give in to this dumbass clone girl!
I understand.
There’s no way I’m losing!!!
I should really think about finding a new school...
Fermat’s law!

And here’s the next equation…
Okay, who wants to…
Okay, Tomoko.
Hmm… I wonder if I can solve it?
I’ll do my best-chi!
May I try as well?
Sure, but Tomoko’s…
Oh well…
It’s hard, isn’t it…

Tomochi, you’re super cute!
You look the best in that ribbon.
You’re lying. Thanks!
But Tomochi looks great in everything!
For sure!
How cute am I?
The cutest in the world!
The cutest in the universe!

You two…
If you don’t want to get suspended, you better stop.

Shouldn’t that be enough?
That stuff with you and Tomoko…
No way!
I’ve already come this far!
But if you keep this up…
I’ll get revenge for that time in elementary school!
When I was in elementary school…
I was super popular!
Well, I’m cute after all,
So it’s to be expected…
Well, I might as well find out the rest…
A transfer student came.
She was cute,
And really smart.
On that day…
I got knocked down into second place.
It was absolutely mortifying!
Soon after that the transfer student,
Left to go to another school…

I never got my chance to take revenge.
So that’s what happened…
I can’t let it,
Happen a second time!
There’s no way I’ll lose again!
I’m not quite sure if I get it…
There’s no way,
That I’ll lose!

Nina-san is so cool, isn’t she?
So cool!
The new transfer student is amazing too.
Really interesting!
More than Nina-san?
No way!
No matter what Nina-san does, she’s always number one, right?

It looks like a busy transfer student has come here, doesn’t it?
Battling everyday is getting to be a pain…
Sounds fun.
Most teachers would say it’s a waste of time.
Once you grow up, you can’t just fight when you feel like it,
Being able to put all your hearts into such things belongs to people your age.
Well that sucks…
Your big sister…
Would often scuffle with her friends.
But after it was over they became even closer.
When Nina was little, we would fight all the time too…
Is that so?
Sayuri and the transfer student are fighting each other!
Let’s go watch!

Let go!
I’m the cutest!
I’m number meow-one!
You two, please stop!
This isn’t how we settle things here!
It’s true…
What Nina-sama said…
And you…
Are both maximum cute…
This fight might not be the way to decide it.

Of course…
Some way to measure out off-the-scale cuteness?

I think so, just between the two of you.
In that case, we’ll have to find another way to do it.
Well then…
How about we give “that” a try?
“That?” You can’t mean…
You really mean “that” one?
It was established,
Our math school tradition…
120 years? That old?!?
The ultimate method of resolving 1-on-1 disputes…
Fine with me!
Fine with me-ow!

This doesn’t have anything to do with math, does it?
That’s not true. Watch and you’ll see.
And so, we will begin shortly.
Please head to the start line.
Our traditional math school obstacle course.
The loser gets punished.
I can’t lose…
I’m always,
The number one girl!
I’ll win even if it kills me.
Tomochi is always the top, meow!
Good luck!
On your mark,
Get set…

The two of them are off to a good start.
First off, tricycles.
They must navigate through the cones.
Go, Sayu!
Uh-oh, this could decide the race.
Tomoko Harajuku is speeding ahead!
I’ve got this!
The curves work to my advantage since the centripetal force when traveling in a circle is F=MV^2/r.
Sayuri ‘s mass is greater and it works against her, but my small size is perfect for it.

And so, the next obstacle is the highlight of the course,
The Bread Biting Challenge!!!
This is…
To decide who the cutest girl is?!?
Do it!
Somehow, Sayuri has caught up!
They’ve gone into the final stretch!
The goal is just ahead!
Which will win?!?
Go for it!
Victory is in your grasp!
Tomochi, show us what you’ve got!
The two of them both crossed at the same time!
Which one?
Which one won?
It’s too close to tell with the naked eye!
We’ll have to go to the replay!

We have a decision!
The winner of the obstacle course…
Sayuri Tachikawa!
I did it!!!
I’m the Number One Girl!
I’m a B-cup.
What cup size are you?
An A-cup. Shut up.
I did it! That’s why I won!
Girls aren’t supposed to talk about that…
Great job! All because of Nina’s respect and affection!
Thanks everyone!

It’s bad but…
All of this,
To determine who was the top,
Is now plain for everyone to see, isn’t it?
You’ve really gotten taller, haven’t you?
I said that you’ve gotten a lot bigger since elementary school.
You can’t mean…
From back in elementary school…
When I lost my title of being number one…
The transfer student?!?
You really are a cold-hearted person, aren’t you?
It hasn’t bothered you one bit…
The reason why I transferred schools.
It can’t be…
Something from back when you knew her?
Back in elementary school, I won.
This time, you win.
That means,
We’re all tied up now.
That’s right.
From now on,
Everything’s a battle,
To see who is the top.
Bring it on!
An eternal rival, huh?

After Talk. It's usually the hardest to do since they talk so fast and talk over one another.

Everyone! How are you?
It’s math-loving Nina here!
Nina-loving Sayuri here!
Today’s the sixth episode of this drama.
We’re over halfway done. It’s kind of sad, but everyone look forward to the second half, okay!
There’s still lots of interesting things to come!
And now, today’s character introduction!
The always high-tension cutie, Tomoko Harajuku.
She’s always happy and energetic, the opposite of serious-types.
Let’s stop using these voices.
Looks like a bad omen!
The curse of Tomochi!
Everyone around her was thinking "There's really an idiot among us, isn't there?"
There really was~

She’s my eternal rival.
Well, the battles will still continue.
Tomochi’s motto is “One day, one triumph”
More so than winning, it felt like always smiling was more important to her.

Well, it keeps her healthy anyway. It seems so.
After that, something else about her,
Her father is a famous Japanese painter!
No freakin’ way!
Way freakin’ no.
It seems like her mother would be an opera singer.
Tomochi is the Princess of the Arts.
Japanese tea ceremony, flower arranging, she can really do anything.
So you shouldn't judge a book by its cover…

Sorry, one more time.

line 45

 He thinks of transfer himself.

After talk

line 12~15
Sorry I knocked you over!
Oh no, Tomochi!
She really got on our nerves and acted like an idiot, didn’t she?
She sure did~
 → 悪い予感がするよ!

line 18~19
Tomochi’s motto is “Give your all, every day!”
She always things about giving her all, doesn’t she?
 → そんなともちの座右の銘は「一日一勝」

 After watching this episode,
I assume that her motto is 一日一勝 , which means she want to win every day.

 Nina rhymed 勝 with 笑 .

line 21
It’s something to learn about her.
 → まあ、(ともちは)達者だからいいよね。 そうですね。

line 28~29
A flower like her could really do anything.
Something you notice…
 → お茶にお花、日本舞踊まで何でもできちゃうんだって!

 Please refer to this.

You guys are fast. Thanks!

As for me, due to a sudden family matter I will be gone again from Sunday until Tuesday. It's unlikely I'll manage to finish the sub before flying out, so expect a release no sooner than Wednesday. Sorry about that, I really wanted this episode to come out on time. :sigh:

Here's the signs and credits to be translated. I didn't read through the script yet, so sorry if some of them already are. Sorry for the OP credits again too - I know most if not all were translated already, but it takes me an awful long time cross-checking them with the previous episodes. At least I started to recognize Risa's name now, lol.

Thanks again.

By the way, this episode continues the tradition of being some 50-70 lines longer than the previous one. By using my awesome maths skills I have calculated that by the end of the series the script is going to be approximately BLOODY DAMN LONG.

This episode is 430 lines after copying the lines from your posts into a text document - the first time to break 400. Some of it are timestamps, and I may need to join some lines together when timing, but I'm still almost positive it's the longest one so far. Maybe I'll post some stats about it once the series is finished, just out of curiosity.

It did have a lot of pauses in the middle of lines, which padded out the line count. While it's probably the most total lines, looking at the document I typed the script into it has the fewest actual words, although only by a couple.

Well done everyone. I'll be back on Tuesday, so there should be no irregularities with the next episode.

It did have a lot of pauses in the middle of lines, which padded out the line count. While it's probably the most total lines, looking at the document I typed the script into it has the fewest actual words, although only by a couple.

Came up to 399 lines in the finished dialogues script. Still the most of all of them by a huge margin. But you're right, it didn't really feel like it when timing.

Didn't you see " Lets work on blog!project! " thread?
