Like I said in the Mods wanted thread:

we have a slightly different idea in mind than the usual mods who are just there to enforce rules or whatever. We'd like the mods to participate a bit more and own their sections in a way: take some responsibility for the content and try to get other people to participate a bit more as well.

So don't think of them as just people who are here to clean up after you and smack you around when you get out of line. That's the least of their responsibilities.
So yes, there are some, let's say, non-conventional selections here. I, for one, like to think that they represent the board and the diverse group of people that we have here. But like I said above, they're not here to rule over you or anything. They had some good ideas as to what they want to do with the section and how they would lead and encourage people, so we whittled the lists and decided based on many factors. Wish them well and give them your support! And if you have any problems, try to talk it out with them, or if not then PM me and Peach.

This post sounds too serious and ominous. Everyone say hi to the new mods!

AEUG was one of the best choices out there. He might have strong opinions you don't agree with, but he's not immature, he's very reasonable, and he'd never delete a discussion because he disagreed with the views in it. He's probably the LEAST likely of anyone on the BBS period who would delete a post because they didn't agree with it.

Ah, yes. That completely slipped my mind.

I will have to get my papers and reasoning in order to pitch said section, but thanks for the reminder. I usually ignore the words 'suggestion box' unless something is extremely wrong with place where box is situated.

Congrats to everyone! And yeah, Steve (AEUG) was a great choice for the job. He's come a tremendously long way since joining the boards, many years ago. And not only that, but even though people liked to call him "a troll, who hates everything," that couldn't be further from the truth. He actually loves a vast majority of the artists and songs that come out from Hellopro nowadays. Sometimes he has to give stuff some time, but he usually comes around. Not to mention his musical tastes in general are far more varied than he could ever convey online. He's one of my best IRL friends, so I can say all of the preceding stuff with confidence. Don't ever judge someone's character by stuff seen online, at least not negative stuff haha.

I would have applied to be a mod myself, like for the audio/video files section. Problem is, I can never come online consistently enough. And to be a good mod, you need to be here full-time. I used to love doing my uploads in those forums, with my cool descriptions of stuff and hopefulness to get people hooked on artists they may not have ever heard before. I'd love to resume doing that someday, if I can ever find the time or ambition to do so. Right now, though, life is throwing some far more serious issues my way.

Congratulations everyone. I'd like to applaud the choices of PQ & AEUG, in particular, as mods of H!P chat.

I think they'll make a great team. Each has obvious strengths to bring to the table. AEUG is good at setting an example that discourages mob mentality (one reason that I like this forum is because I don't want to read through fifteen pages of responses that all look same); PQ is good at clearing out a platform for people to be zany and have fun, which is important, because serious thought has obvious limitations and we should exploit our members' talent for delivering humor.

Also:

It's worth emphasizing the idea of "quality begets quality." Sadude is absolutely correct in observing that all the heavy-handed moderation in the world cannot produce a quality post. Only quality posters can do that*. The forum is a community like any other and there's a lot of personality that makes it enjoyable to visit.
