RULES for TRANSLATORS/PREPPERS

• Effectively communicate! This means let us know when you're going away awhile. That way someone can take over your posts. If you need to go away for an extended time, it's OK as well. Just let us know how long. If it ends up being longer than your estimate, then please update us. If you're just no longer interested in translating/prepping anymore, of course that's fine as well. Hey there! New thread!

As you've probably noticed, I started posting some entries today from Saki's blog. After working with it a bit, I actually rather like how the system works. After I get the hang of them, it'll actually be easier to type the emoticon codes rather than pick em for a drop-down menu or copy them (like I have to do in Ameba). Though I did find out that we still can just copy emoticons and pictures in! ...Although I likely won't for formatting ease. Still, it'll help if there are some custom emoticons out there, although I notice the format is still a bit weird. Ah well, an option if I'm a bit lazy or am too busy sometime. ^^;

It also adds some stuff I haven't done at my other blog since I'm not really into web design (like the colors, hard-coded girls' names, and also links to original blogs).

I've noticed too that we're still not getting Reina's posted... While I've been doing them, and R!P has been doing them too, Shelly et al, do you have an idea of how you might wanna do em here? If we don't come to some decision I might just go ahead and start posting them tomorrow so at least we'd have them here... Not sure if you're under time constraints or something.

As to how to share it, perhaps we can just divide it according to the time the entries are posted? For example, 00:00AM~12:00PM and 12:00PM~00:00AM, JST of course.

I'm confused at the use of なる or　なう here. Takahashi is talking about allergy season and notes:

私の周りも何人かなってます。

自分もなってた時期もあった気がするんだけどな.....

なんだったんだろ??

What it this verb? I've only really seen that conjugation with になる or　なくなる so I'm confused.

Quite often these allergies make people cry, I know a few of my kids get tear filled eyes because of allergies, their eyes become itchy.

She could be saying -

"Quite a lot of people are crying because of allergies..
I think there was a time I also cried"

Cry seems to suggest a sad feeling and it's just tears because of the itchiness.

I could also be wrong!

I'm glad it's turned out easier! That's good to hear.
Just want to note that for the Serend entries, I guess there are no official entry titles. But we need to make up some name. Because when someone comments on those entries, you can't click to see it. Perhaps we can go with the Name and Date which is stupid since it's right under it, but I can't think of anything else. Like Miyabi 03/08/11 or something.

As for posting Reina entries... I hope you don't feel pressured to post it to b!p, Sherry. I feel bad if you do and you're not obligated to do it.

And is it just me or is Sina down or is it just my work computer? The other day I got pictures blocked from Jun Jun's blog as they were PORN.

It's なる, as it "got allergies/started having allergies/etc." I think she's just dropping the に you'd normally hear in more formal/complete sentences.

Okay, I can title Serend entries with something. I didn't notice it would cause a problem - it actually seemed to fill in nicely without a title.

Speaking of which, where have the entries from Serend from the past couple of days gone? There were several Miya ones and some Saki ones (and now it looks like Miya doesn't have any entries...)

Is it part of the issue with the titles? I'd hate it if something happened to them, cause I had to put a good bit of work into them with all the emoticons...


As to the allergy thing, it's just the way the Japanese treat the term "kafunshou". They use it a bit differently than how we would "allergies" or "allergic condition". It's like how we'd use "sick". In Japanese you "become allergic condition" (yes, I know that doesn't make sense in English lol. I'd just translate that as "get allergies" or something) just like you "become sick"

When I am, it appears fine, so it's even a bit difficult to test. I added titles to them, but it still doesn't seem to help... Any ideas, strawberry? You've only made 4 Miyabi entries so far, right? Posts can't get lost this easily so don't worry.
The reason why there is a difference in what people can see is that logged in users and readers that make comments don't see cached pages. The PHP is served right to you while normal users get HTML files. Certain changes are updated right away to normal users, like new posts.

edit: I logged out and checked the Miyabi category and it looked fine. However, when I checked IE, you are right, her posts were not there. I'll definitely look into it. Sorry about that.
edit 2: Should work now. It did seem to be something just from Miyabi's category.

Let me know if they are any other problems.

As a side note, I saw you linking the posts on H!O. It may be better idea still to link the posts themselves rather than the categories so that when people read your post like 2 weeks from now, they don't just get the newest posts.

donut/Eri: I saw your request that I take Aichan's blog for translations. XD I'd be happy to take her blog off your hands, though I agree that she's hard to keep up with sometimes. I hope I can get some help from you when life gets a little hectic. XD

If you don't mind, I'll start working on her blog this evening when I get home from work. I'll do my best not to fall behind on her blog posts. I noticed you skipped a post or two in between things you've done (ex. the Melodix post), so I'll get those done.

Why yes you do... I comment on your fics on jphip and give you heck for putting Miyabi through all sorts of issues all the time. XD

As for view counts on entries, when you're in the dashboard of wordpress (/wp-admin), in the left column, you should see a link to "Site Stats" under "Dashboard". That will let you see the views.

And thanks for the info about view counts too!! Wondered if it might just not be available to the public. And hmm, it seems the bit of advertising I do really does help a decent bit... and lol at referring sites too. Glad I pointed to here from my ameba.

I don't plan on translating Risa's blog regularly (I tried that once and all of Risa's emoticons drove me nuts), but with the special nature with the earthquake happening, let me know if I should post Risa's entry on the blog.
