H!P website

H!S announcement

I guess none of us are really surprised, considering Karin already had a solo tour. Good for her.

I'm looking forward to what Juice=Juice will be without her. Especially until 2nd gen was added J=J was the Miyamoto Karin show, they've toned it down after that, but she was still very obviously the ace. However, other girls like Tomoko, Sayuki and Ruru definitely stepped up their game.

J=J's new single will be released in April. Karin will start her solo performances in fall. I guess she'll take a few months to train a bit, like Airi did.

Damn. I was expecting this, but still hoped that she might stick around for a couple more years. I really thought Tomo was next to go based on her age alone, and I imagine she won't be far behind.

I feel like this is why Ruru got Karin’s opening lines. She’s being prepped to be the new ace of JJ.

I’m sure Karin will still be very active, but it’s the end of an era of JJ.

I saw this coming. But unlike the Angermegeddon, this feels right.

I just hope she gets the same treatment as Airi and perhaps more creative control over her music since she clearly has the ability to do it herself.

My stupid butt decided to read the release thread before this one and I was like “what graduation announcement?!” 😂

But yeah this is good timing for her and J=J. Kinda disappointed she’s not staying in H!P but I guess that’s just how they’re doing things now.

It's going to be interesting.

First, from what I gather Karin won't stay in H!P. At 21 years she could have a decent run as a soloist before hitting the magical 25 years edge. This shows that Up Front doesn't want soloists in H!P - since Karin would've been the best pick for that. Maybe they never plan any budget for soloists, because those usually need more advertisement than groups.

Second, while Karin is incredibly talented and maybe even more of an allrounder than Airi, the two of them are very different. I can't see Karin going the sexy route Airi is doing now. Karin's looks scream idol. Then I'm back to my first point: She'd probably do better as a soloist among H!P.

Third, I'm not too worried about her success. As long as they keep promoting her she's going to be fine. She does have a very dedicated fanbase after all.

Ice Cream & My Jiggly on twitter translated the website announcement.

To sum it up, Karin wants to try a different lifestyle, one that connects much more with nature. She wants to try DIYs and interior design.

She will also go to Vladivostok with Juice=Juice, which means she'll stay until June 5th at least. In Vladivostok she wants to visit a Dacha.

Karin has also talked to management about her future plans since fall 2018.

Knew she was going to leave soon, but to be honest, I expected Tomoko to go first. I am quite interested to see Juice=Juice without her.

Tomoko turns 25 in July. So surely she'll go right after Karin. In the winter, most likely?

Honestly Ju=Ju has enough good performers to keep trucking without her... But I just hope we don't go and lose a ton of girls one after another a la Angerme.

I don't remember it ever being mentioned on this site, but she will be getting a BD/DVD release in March for her solo tour.

Even Sayu didn't get a BD for her solo concert.

I swear I remember reading somewhere that Kanatomo wasn't going to leave right after she turned 25... I don't remember if it was here or not but honestly even if I remembered wrong I don't think she's leaving this year.

It would be cool to see Up-Front let Tomoko stick around beyond 25, but J=J is set up pretty nicely for the foreseeable future even if she decides to leave this year. They really don't have any dead weight -- even the n00bs seem like they can hang.

Also, full post on this is up at the blog.

If UF is willing to promote her as a soloist too, she’s better off leaving soon too. I would like to see them continue a pattern of actually launching their artists into post-H!P careers (see Airi, Miyabi, Sayumi) rather than letting them slowly fade to obscurity as many sadly have.

Karin has to be willing to commit to a solo career in the way that Airi has, and based on her statement, I wonder if she is. Between the DIY, interior design and getting in touch with nature, how much time will she have for a serious solo career?

Based on her statement I kind of get the impression she’s not going to focus on one thing enough for any of it to be serious.

If Karin wanted to be a soloist she’d basically have to jump into it right now to take advantage of the next couple of years. I don’t think she’d transition well out of idol-soloist very well.

I feel like i should have more feelings about this but I just don't.

/edit This isn't me being edgy by the way, it's like actually upsetting me how much I don't care. :\

I bet Karin is going to be a Satoyama soloist. Doing some events for them, performing as guest act at HinaFes, releasing a single around that time.
