A lot of Japanese H!P fans were starting to show up to Da Pump lives and it was all over twitter. It is an addicting little song. Hopefully it shows up on Apple Music next week. They are a lot of their music on Apple Music so I'm sure it will.
Speaking of Streaming services. Sheena Ringo released her entire discography on streaming. Just found that out today. Guess what I'll be indulging in tomorrow at work!? :DDD

I like how much of a throwback that Da Pump song is. It makes me glad an old boy group like them is getting some revival. Especially a non Johnny's one.
I will forever hold a grudge against Johnny's. FYI Da Pump isn't allowed on Music Station because Johnny's sees them as a threat.

They do a song on Airi Suzuki's album. It's basically a Buono! song

It's insanely cute and catchy.
The part in the beginning sounds soooo familiar, but I just can't quite put my finger on it why...
I'm so sure I've heard a very (but not exactly) similar tune in a Japanese show or something before.

It reminds me of Moritaka Chisato's 17 sai. But generally some chiptune like opening is always cute.

That is one hell of a funky song.

The great game Yakuza 0 also has some really good power-pop songs:

Wasuta collaborated with a teenage Spanish duo called Adexe & Nau and this might be the most interesting thing I've seen come from J-pop this year:
except the song was Spanish first so I guess it doesn't count as J-pop but whatever
Also I made a new Spotify playlist

I was listening to this song thinking it sounded like a Hello! Project song, then I realized it's Tsunku produced!
Pretty funny considering Last Idol is usually produced by Akimoto Yasushi. They got the best of both worlds!

Wasei JJ Chikada has a new Serial Experiments Lain "Cyberia" album out. You can order a copy easily (3000 JPY shipped to US) and he'll even sign it for you if you ask him after ordering.
It's Serial Experiments Lain 20th anniversary this year, can't believe it's been this long already.

I thought there was a Stardust thread?
Anyway, with Chiyu's graduation Team Shachihoko has rebranded themselves as TEAM SHACHI. I kind of love their new angry whale logo.

I haven't listened to rap in probably 15 years, and just yesterday got acquainted with the Eminem v MGK beef from last fall. Watched MGK's crappy diss (Rap Devil), then Em's surgical evisceration of it (Kill Shot). I can't believe that there are still people who are stupid enough to fuck with Eminem. The Game warned people about messing with Em. I really wish I had watched this unfold in real-time.

I went to see Fall Out Boy with my sister (because I love her very, very, much) and MGK was opening and we had no idea who he was but it was literally like during the week all that shit went down and we're just sitting out having a beer and it kind of clicked and we were like OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH and went back into the arena and felt like a small part of history haha

Ha ha! That's awesome. How did the crowd react to MGK? And did he do "Rap Devil"?

They seemed to like him well enough but I don't remember it being over the top or anything. And yeah he did. I actually ended up really liking one of his songs (I don't remember the name but he said fuck a lot, which is my favorite word)

Here's a topic for random non-HP music. Let's start with...
The latest from Ningen Isu, "Heartless Scat".
These guys have apparently been around for 30 years, and they're still releasing new material. This song and video are incredible. The sound is like a Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure through the history of metal, but it's firmly rooted in SABBATH. They look like a group of J-rock Expendables arriving to show the kids what's what. I absolutely love this.
