Singles are a bit of a H!P staple, and each year there are some stinkers and some hits. Sure, the quality of H!P goes down like Kennedy's airplane, but that doesn't mean absolutely everything is worthless--there's examples that give us all hope for the future (misplaced hope, but it's better than nothing).

Vote for the best single in 2006--this can be because the cover has the most cute underage girls in short skirts, or because the composition uses a lot of C#m9b11 chords, or some other ethereal reason. Remember though that a vote for the A-side is a vote for the c/w, also!

Aruiteru, but only because of the b-side. The b-sides for Sexy Boy, Ambitious, and Glass no Pumps weren't all that great, and Let's Go Rakuten Eagles didn't have a b-side.

Any of the C-ute singles, simply because they didn't have a crummy b-side to muck things up.

Glass no Pumps. I loved the song and thought the b-side was better than a lot of a-sides.

If we're talking about the single as a whole, for me it's Abe Natsumi - The Stress. Great A-side, very fun remixes and the greatest beatbox ever.

Ironically, the only single in which I haven't ended up thinking "the b-side should've been the single" has been Maki's Some Boys! Touch, so that gets my vote.

Koharu Kusumi's Balalaika, I liked the b-side as much as the a-side. :3

Balalaika. Hands down.

Though Aisu Cream to My Pudding is a close second.

I'd have to say The Stress, it had easily the best B-sides of this year, and a good A-side.

Let's Go Rakuten Eagles was the runner up, it doesn't need a b-side. Besides that, all this year's other B-sides pretty much all sucked balls along with the A-side, most of the time. The B-side to Thanks! was pretty good, but the A-side was as lackluster as can be.

Kusumi's "Balalaika". Not only did it nearly surpass Morning Musume in single sales, it's just damn catchy!

Abe Natsumi - Amasugita Kajitsu. I love both A and B-sides for this single. Abe Natsumi - The Stress is a close second though.

I was torn between Berryz Koubou's Jiriri Kiteru and Abe's The Stress, but The Stress is just a little bit better, imo, so I vote for The Stress.

... Oh wait. =3= Damn.

Balalaika, blahblahblah Scarlet...

Why has no one mentioned Onegai Miwaku no Target yet? MKB actually got a release and ya'll aren't going to mention it?

Glass no Pumps, Aisu Cream to My Purin, and The Stress were all completely solid singles and definitely deserving of the award. Pretty much any of C-ute's were too, so I'll go with everyone's favorite and add Massara Blue Jeans onto my list.

(I'd probably have more opinion... or more to choose from... if I usually listened to c/ws. =3=)

Edit: WAIT I just remembered the c/w for Balalaika, so that has to be added too. FTW

Keeping in mind that B-side counts in this category, I'm really torn between:

- Balalaika
- Melodies
- Thanks!
