...I'm going to sadly chug along. SURELY SOMEONE WILL JOIN ME? ANYONE
So her first album, First Love, is out, and it's fabu. I thought I'd give a quick review.
1)Turn It Up - I like it. It sounds very Beyonce, actually, but I'm glad it's not a full length track. It doesn't suit her as well as some other songs on the album do.
2)Special ft. Jennie Kim - I'm really digging this song. I've seen some complaints about Jennie Kim's rap. I actually like it, though she does sound very young. It's weird hearing the rap interlude from a voice so much higher than the main singer. This has been stuck in my head some, though. You are, you are, you a-are!
3)It's Over - I love the snot out of this song, and I love its MV, and it's just great. So baby, goodbye!
4)짝사랑/One-Sided Love - This isn't a sound I hear from k-pop much, if ever. Very soulful and even has kind of a church choir going. It's definitely different. I like it a lot, but I haven't found myself listening to it as much as some of the other tracks on the album.
5)Dream - This song is really "meh" for me compared to a lot of the other songs on the album. It's a ballad. I dunno.
6)Rose - Ughhhh so good. This song is just one I could listen to all day on repeat. It never really has a big dramatic high point, but that works for it as far as I'm concerned. I even like her talking section.
7)바보/Fool for Love - Also kinda "meh" for me. Still good, just not extraordinary.
8)Because - I really like this song. It doesn't have a super strong personality compared to Rose or It's Over, but the flow of it is great and I love the beginning when it's just her voice.
9)내가 이상해/Am I Strange? - Wow. Okay, I love this song. The lyrics are really poignant, the way the song is structured really brings across the point, and it's... it's just like a quiet misfit anthem. I even love the breathing. Make this song into a food so I can eat it. And then cry later because of my feels.
10)1,2,3,4 - Great song, and probably one of the catchiest she's done. I like to pretend the MV doesn't exist, though. Still wonderful after many months of listening.
NOW SOMEONE GO CHECK OUT THIS ALBUM, JEEZ.
