I'm with Zounder in being indifferent to that. I hear so many people complain about it, but I don't get why everyone cares so much about it. If there's plenty of strategy using one person, that sounds good to me.

Wait, as in Hironobu Sakaguchi? I thought he was the dude who left after X and made Lost Odyssey?

I hate DLC in principle. This is probably a tired argument, but I don't keep up with the gaming community anymore, so I'm not sure. I miss the days when I paid the standard $40 or $50 and got the full damn package, not this random added good stuff for $5 at a time later. At the end of it, I've invested maybe $90 into your game just to get all the FUN shit. That's ridiculous.

There have been Addons since a long time already.
This has nothing to do with DLC, but publishers being fuckfaces.

My issue is paying separately for stuff that could've easily been in the game. I'm talking as far back as PS1 and PS2 days without networks to add things anyway.

I honestly am not sure because the only director I cared about was Matsuno. In my mind it's "some dude after Matsuno" but that name popped in my head first so I thought it may be him. :hahaha:

Oh, okay. I was thinking I'd been looking extra stupid talking about how much I missed Sakaguchi all this time if he hadn't even left. I think they replaced him with Yoshinori Kitase if I have my people straight, but I've no clue if that's who replaced Matsuno for XII.

Oh, sorry. I meant my issue is paying for stuff, and I'm referencing PS1 and PS2 as the good ol' days back before DLC and add-ons when you got the whole game with the damn $50 price tag.

Haven't they been letting Nomura (the character designer) work on the stories for the last few games? He's the one I see always getting blamed for the downfall of FF.

He's directing 13-Versus, and he's also done many of the Kingdom Hearts games.

Addons have been done on PCs for decades.
It is not the format that is shit, it's the publishers that turn it into shit.

Having sex with aliens is truly the last remaining RPG element in that series.

Ahaaa, so that DOES come out this week. I preordered it for my boyfriend for Valentine's Day. I don't play the series but I like watching him play :danceman:

Also, female Sheppard is hot.

Playing ME3 right now, although I didn't have time to replay the first two games in order to get a savegame. So I've just got all the default options which is disappointing but maybe they'll do a comic-DLC like they did for ME2 which lets you choose the options that you did in ME1.

Major spoiler: It actually doesn't matter, the ending's always pretty much the same shit.

Being from the future means you get some sick threads. I wonder if Noel made them himself? :P Anyway, I'm used to it now and it's pretty fun. I like the battle system as much as like I liked 12's. Time travel stories are pretty convoluted as it is, and final fantasy stories are convoluted, I await a trainwreck of wildly dressed visual kei stars. And Snow is disproportionally huge to Serah. Makes me laugh every time I saw them together.

I thought Mass Effect was supposed to be touted as that awesome American RPG series?

Oh god, you should've seen them in 13! Serah had her AKB schoolgirl outfit on and it was all so illegal-looking. :(

I still swear he's thirty and she's fourteen, and Square's just fucking with us all.

Stacking got released today on Steam and it's so goddamned charming !
It's as if Double Fine can't do no wrong.

Hopefully they'll release Trenched/Iron Brigade one day when their exclusive deal with microsoft runs out.

The first game was an action-RPG, the second one turned into a corridor-shooter.
Which was very, very disappointing for me.

@Serah; Have you seen the loli & cleavage DLC yet ?

Mass Effect is still very much an RPG. It just uses action elements instead of turn based combat, and the game features play modes for people who want to only do the RPG stuff or only want to do the combat stuff, with the standard mode being both.

The only thing ME2 had in common with RPGs was choosing your dialog and a class (which in the end played very similar anyway).
The leveling got extremely dumbed down, there was no real inventory, enhancing weapons was very limited and boring.
Also, taking away the Mako was for me, personally, a bad decision since the mining minigame was so uninteresting.

ME2 only had one mode.

This has nothing to do with combat being turn-based or not.

Borderlands GOTY for 7,49€ on Steam today, and the whole franchise at 75% off. I didn't really like it at all when I tried it out before - I dug the graphics, but the gameplay bored me to tears after few hours. Still feel tempted to give it another try. Ugh, decisions.

I'm not sure if I want to. I saw one costume but it was 3$ and I ain't spending that.

I just realized Tales of Xillia comes out soon. I've wanted to play that game for a long time now but if I start it before I finish 13-2 then I will never finish it. :cryalot:

WHAT REALLY. Damn it, I still haven't started or finished Abyss or Legendia!

Oh wait, Xillia's for the PS3 and I don't have one of those yet, so I can finish everything else first. Phew.

Thank you, Mass Effect 3, for not copping out and finally letting me see what Tali looks like without her suit!

I mean, yeah, our relationship was purely based on her awesome personality, but it doesn't hurt that she was a Sayuesque beauty under that helmet...

wat

Bioware was really lazy about Tali:

Such a damn shame, since she was my favourite girl in ME1.

Bad game design - have secret/hard to find items required for game progress

Whoever came up with that idea should be demoted and whoever approved it should be fired. I hate the strategy guide selling schemes that permeate games nowadays.

Just finished the main story and the ending was also funny and, dare I say it, cute.
Now onto the challenges, hi-jinks and extra mission !

I don't remember any game that did that. And I play a lot of games.
What games do you mean ?

I was referring to the wild artifacts in FF13-2. :hahaha:

FFXII also had the treasure chests you could not open if you wanted the strongest weapon in the game. (Of course with no way of knowing this other than buying the guide because who will leave a treasure chest alone in a RPG!?)

I would also count the Persona social links because choosing the wrong answer doesn't put you on a different dialogue path.

There is no "right" or "wrong" really with social interactions in games if the game is well done.
And I think that Persona is a rather good example.

I didn't do the optional social link stuff in Persona 3/4 to get higher ranks, but to get to know the characters better.

I just bought a Vita! You may all start ridiculing me now, but I don't regret it at all. There are no design flaws that I can tell in the hardware, so waiting for the next revision will not be necessary. The memory cards are indeed overpriced, which makes me sad, but only mildly.
As for games, I've just downloaded Mutant Blobs Attack (cheap and awesome) some demos so far as well as most of my digital PSP games. They look better and have improved buttonosity this way.

I'll be getting a vita too sometime. I don't know when, but I'm not opposed to the system. And the demo unit I played had a beautiful screen. :nosebleed:
