That was to be expected, though. Jessica speaks English, but I don't think she feels very comfortable when she does. Which would make sense. She's lived in Korea since she was about 11.
Yeeaah, but especially during their Gee through maybe as far as the Run Devil Run days, Jessica always seemed to be the one getting attention on variety/radio/etc. as the "one who speaks English." Tiffany was almost always in the background, and was lucky to be able to chime in like an afterthought, "Me too!"
Jessica's the closest I come to disliking an SNSD member though, so that might influence why I like Tiffany barging her way to the front now.

Yeah, it being 10 bucks (8 with emp discount lul) was pretty surprising to me.I actually ended up buying the US release of Boys the other day at Best Buy, cause my girlfriend wanted to go to the one store within a 50 mile radius that had it in stock (those fanboys/girls are rabid..) and it was cheap as hell. I actually found 2 or 3 of their songs that I like! Telepathy is amazing and by far the best track on there, also My J and Lazy Girl are pretty good as well. Oscar and Say Yes are fairly listenable, but not great. The rest of the CD gets a "next track" button on my player immediately, especially The Boys and Mr. Taxi.

Jenny of Girls Generation goes on super racist ranting spree on her twitter.
Well, guess I'm no longer a fan of this group.

That's being talked about here. And she isn't apart of the group, she wrote a few songs for them, and a not very good ones either in my opinion. But then I like Gee and Oh! a little too much.
Who the hell is she then? I think I got her mixed up with 2 of the other anonymous Korean/American girls.

Anyway, we're discussing this in the K-Pop spam thread already, and I think someone posted the update from her Wordpress that says she was admitted to the hospital and that she's paranoid schizophrenic.
I leave you with an interesting series of tweets on the topic by Tiger JK.

The (apparently, judging by the amount of water-marked pics I've encountered) #1 Korean fansites for the members have some really weird names:
Flying Petals (Taeyeon): http://kimtaeyeon.co.kr/
Deer Yoona: http://deeryoona.com/
Kwon Yuri 125: http://kwonyuri125.com/
Royal ShikShin (Sooyoung): http://royalshikshin.com/
Woorissica (Jessica): http://woorissica.com/
Do these names have a deeper meaning to them ? Deer, Flying Petals, 125, Shikshin ?
Tiffany and Tiffanism is obvious, but these don't make much sense to me.

Yoona's is because she looks like a deer in the headlights all the time. I assume anyway because I don't like Yoona and tend to ignore her existance. Sooyoung's is because she eats a lot so shikshin is her nickname.
Haha that about Yoona is certainly true sometimes.
Sooyoung eats a lot ? Weird, concidering she looks way, way, way too skinny.

"Blessed"? She looks unnatural and downright disgusting because of how rail-thin she is.Sooyoung talks about her love of food constantly. If there's food near her she's eating. She's blessed with her metabolism.

She's always been extremely thin, even from predebut. And you do realize that gaining weight is not as easy as 'eating a goddamn sandwich'. Some people can't gain weight no matter how hard they try. It's ridiculous that it's okay for girls to be overweight, and you can't tell them to stop eating, but if a girl is underweight it's perfectly okay to tell them to eat a burger.Didn't she use to have more meat on her? It doesn't look like she got the way she is naturally, especially being an idol. She looks unhealthy and underweight. And sorry to be rude, but disgusting is appropriate (if a bit dramatized). When I see her legs I'm repulsed; then I sigh and mutter to myself.
Oh, and she can help it. She can eat a goddamn sandwich.

Yes and no. Over- and underweight problems just happen to be at different stages in most cultures, especially because many entertainment industries (fashion and idol in particular) are built on unrealistic and unhealthy portrayals of bodies and sexual appeal on the underweight side of the spectrum. She's always been extremely thin, even from predebut. And you do realize that gaining weight is not as easy as 'eating a goddamn sandwich'. Some people can't gain weight no matter how hard they try. I know it's not easy to gain weight for some people, just as it's not easy for others to lose weight. I don't know enough about her nutrition and fitness regimens to make a serious comment. But I don't need to know that in order to find it extreme that she and her skinny long legs are held up as a symbol of beauty and sexiness, which goes back to me finding ridiculous your original statement that she's "blessed with her metabolism".
You're right that it's not perfectly okay to tell an underweight girl to eat a burger. That I made that comment is a product of Sooyoung being in the public eye and of her never-in-hell likelihood of reading my stupid comment on the internets. I wouldn't tell her that to her face; if I had a friend who was underweight, I'd express serious concern about her health, nutrition, and fitness and try to learn more about it in order to help her.

I wouldn't think too much of it. In fact, one way for a woman to deflect criticism (fears) that she has an eating disorder/too skinny/etc is to publicly make a fuss about food all the time. Ie. "How can you say I am anorexic when I've been on record talking about my love for food?"
I have no comment on the bodies of Korean idols, but to assume they are all naturally waif thin and eating/sleeping/exercising like your average 20-something is sheer fucking insane denial.
Molly is right - you can't gauge someone's health or anything by their appearance. However, I agree with sadude in that, these idols are PUBLIC figures now and held up as ideals for women to emulate even though they are NOT AVERAGE and NOT NORMAL. In that sense, it is perfectly legit to criticize unfair and sexist beauty ideals on a societal level.
(And give me a break, do you really think people hold back from judging overweight women?)
My only comment otherwise is...
Maybe she looks so skinny because her head is so damn disproportionally big

Did I tell you guys I got an SNSD calendar in Japan?! We went to visit the "Korea Town" in Osaka over New Years and everything was closed EXCEPT for the Kpop idol shops. I can't explain how amazing these stores were -- top to bottom overflowing with idol goods (calendars in every size, fans, posters in every size, stickers, towels, mugs, pins) and so many idols! Each shop was split with boy groups on one side and girl groups on the other -- the boy merchandise took up maybe 75% of each shop I think. I got away with only buying 1 small calendar for only 300 yen.

The deer thing seems to refer to Yoona's doe-like eyes. They always refer to her with that epithet.
I'd guess Kwon Yuri 125 refers to her birthday (December 5).
Woorissica means "Our Sica".
No idea about Flying Petals, though.

Taetiseo will debut on May 2nd with their mini-album, Twinkle. They are Seohyun, Tiffany, and Taeyeon.
The group name, Taetiseo, is presumably a reference to the names of the three group members – Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Seohyun.
