I remember way back in the day discovering them with Sweet Donuts. SO cute! I absolutely love NIGHT FLIGHT. Brilliant song. They are awesome.

I can't wait for the new album, 3 singles is enough, I bet some of the B-sides will appear on it anyway. Laserbear (keeping that typo) is pretty cool, I'm glad that the non chorus parts didn't turn out to sound exactly like VOICE. ooh, more vocal spasms. :D/

However, it did kind of give me flashbacks of this.

Hi PQ, I'll read all of your post next time. ^_^

Laser Beam is good. I hope its PV is as well.

For some reason Perfume has slipped my mind a little and I haven't listened to them as much as I used to. I like the last 3 singles, but they weren't outstanding. But part of the reason I haven't listened to Perfume as much is because I didn't like Triangle as much as Game. So I hope the new album is better than Triangle.

Wow, Laserbeam is really high. I don't know, it's too pico-pico for me. Also, I love Perfume, but I'm not looking forward to a new album. IMO, Perfume's albums have been rather meh. Just sort of bland-ish.

I DO, however, love Perfume's "live" "performances." For their DVDs, they manage to get really interesting visual elements and they're really good dancers.

Also, for the uninitiated, PErfume is produced by Yasutaka Nakata, the mad-man behind capsule and MEG.

Thanks Nesh, I forgot to add that in my little blurb. I think I took up to much time trying to find all the damn PVs.

I really liked some of their 2008 singles (still way high in my playing list on my iTunes), but I don't know, their albums are not as good as their single. I still prefer capsule for their albums.
But their songs are good for work out XD.

Laserbeam is exactly what I like about them XD.

Perfume is about the only Jpop group that I still really care about anymore. I love damn near everything they've ever done, including Triangle.

If you like Pixar Movies and Perfume, you should probably check out Cars2 which is be featuring Perfume's hit song Polyrhythm in a scene in the movie. And will also be on the soundtrack too.

You know you've made it when you're inserted into a Disney movie world wide. 8o

Perfume is spreading throughout the world :weeeh:

Laser Beam PV Preview I really love their new single~ Everything Perfume does is just wonderful~ Maybe it's because they don't crank out singles all the time like other artists so they have a lot of good unused songs or something.

It's from last year, but even indies Perfume has found its way into American entertainment.

LASER BEAM's PV looks really good.

These girls are great; they have released some really killer songs (Polyrhythm, GAME, Butterfly, Edge). Their PVs are so amusing and their music is so freaking catchy. I hope they release a new album soon. I loved Game (Triangle was a bit of a letdown)... I generally like their more aggressive/fast beat songs.

Longer PV preview, Ruby sent it to me.

Nice use of alternate characters to spell the name.
I love when Nocchi puts a finger-gun to her head.

Also, full audio on YT with another creative alternate name.

It's out now! VOICE & FAKE IT had a baby.
(thanks Zaeleus)

I think the instrumental track is probably my favorite of all Perfume singles. The 8-bit quality makes it really easy to loop for hours. (although, I miss the vocal beeps)

The B-side is cute, but it doesn't have much presence. It's nice and mellow, but completely overshadowed by Laser Beam.

So! Perfume is beating AKB48's Idol on oricon. KAT-TUN is first (of course), but Perfume beating AKB48 is a huge shock to me. I don't know if that means Perfume is even bigger than I thought, or if AKB48 is on its way down, or what... Anyway it makes me happy since I think this is one of their best singles so far. Go Perfume!

You had me go look because I know for a fact AKB48's next single will be #1 because it's the election single, there's no question about that. DiVA, which is a new subgroup only released their first single so of course Perfume is going to beat them. 8o (General public hasn't been hypnotized yet into buying into DiVA yet.) But good for them, Perfume is in and they don't have to throw any gimmicks around to prove that they are awesome.

Yeah, why the hell did I write "Idol"? I meant Diva. I'm still very surprised at that result though. (And the general public doesn't buy AKB48 8o)

^Most singles ARE bought by the general public/casual fans.
There's not as many wota's as you'd think.

I am loving this single so much~~ I like DiVA, but I like Perfume more 8o I'm glad they had good sales~

There don't need to be that many since they each buy 20 singles. 8o But of course, I was just kidding. Dear J sold better than KAT-TUN is selling (I think?), so that says a lot about their mainstream appeal.

I don't get why they want waste thousands of dollars on AKB...

I'm not feeling this single as much as previous ones.
Edit: I sorta take that back. I like Kasuka na Kaori a lot more now after seeing the PV. It's really, really cute.
Kasuka na Kaori PV (short ver.) (There's a full version out there, though.)

So I went a-huntin' for the full Laser Beam PV, and found out that there won't be one because the earthquake occurred while they were filming and they couldn't continue. Interesting footnote, that.

I like how Kasuka's PV is presented to look like the border & dimensions of random photographs, it's pretty interesting. Nice that they use a variety of color filters too. See, this is a simple PV done correctly!

That sucks about Laser Beam being released without an ending. I wanted to see what would happen if they ran into the creepy guy in the suit.

I forget how I stumbled across them, but I believe the first PV I saw was their Baby Cruising Love PV. I was hooked by the awesome techno sounds and their beauty. Been trying to keep tabs on them since, they've got a great sound.

I first got into Perfume when I heard Polyrhythm. I just love all their songs and I'm really loving their new double A side. I love the concept of both Laser Beam and Kasuka na Kaori. <3

Found this on Tokyohive

Perfume in LA at the Cars2 premiere. It's cute seeing them in the CD store and then there is the little English bit at the end that's a little awkward and then the fans get their little limelight moment but other then that, it's a good little video.
I'm so happy for the girls regardless. Posted Image

I have no clue who that is, but yeah, he definitely fell in love with them.

Does anybody understand 棚からぼたもち ? Googling around a bit, it seems to be some kind of proverb, but I don't really understand the explanation.

He's basically one of the masterminds behind Pixar. And a major Perfume lover.

An expression for "unexpected good luck".

I knew I could trust this site to have the answer.

The nice part is they also give you the phrase in full kanji [棚から牡丹餅] so you don't have to use vague hiragana if you search for it elsewhere.

Back to Perfume:
Can they just announce the next album already?
They really don't need any new singles on it. They have 6 single tracks to potentially put the album, maybe at least one appearing in remix form. Fushizen,Natural,VOICE,Nee,Laser,Kasu
