Even if Akimoto was a genius for creating and promoting AKB, he's now just a madman diluting his empire into insignificance and washing it away with more and more iterations of the same. Does anyone really give even half a fuck about all those new groups? I swear I'm not hating here.

He just made this group to get back his Sony stuff didn't he?

Everytime I see the name Ikuta Erika, I keep thinking it's Erina. They are the same age too.

Yeah, like Tsunku. :lesson:

I wonder what symbol Akimoto will add to his name ?

I have to agree with this. I think it'll help make the idol wave wash away faster than normal, in fact. The fact that they're all so fuck HUGE doesn't help either.

Sorry, I'm out of the loop. I know this group is being made in collaboration with Sony, but what stuff is he trying to get back?

Do you mean this is all part of some deal to get back the rights to his AKB stuff that was actually good?

Eh, like Ap said it's kind of like Tsunku. C-ute/Berryz/NGP or whatever/MM/...well, you get the point. They're all the same after a while.

Anways, Bishoujo Club 31 anybody?

I'm annoyed that this exists, to be honest. I mean I love Aki-P, but still! :whatthe: I just want a new stage for A/K/B, watching B5 all the time is making me a bored fan. I want new stuff! And he still needs to make a Teah E for SKE, Team M and B for NMB48, AND he needs to get members for HKT48! How is he going to do that?

I don't think it's ever been mentioned publicly, but from what I hear in the background in comments and chatter is yes that's probably some part of the deal. Wont know for real if some of the old stuff starts to appear in use and this whole group was just a big giant smoke screen to get it. I'm sure in some way Sony is butt hurt to have lost such a giant cash cow as AKB48 right before they made it big.

HAHA BC31. I had their photobook.

I hope if they have 'stages' - they are all new songs, if they are supposed to be an AKB rival group, they can't go singing AKB songs. >.>

Whenever I hear about the backlash to the Korean Wave, I think about my own resistance to the AKB empire. It is just too much. Regardless of the quality of the PVs or the number of fans, whenever I hear of ANOTHER 50 member AKB-related group debuting, I just feel tired of the entire thing.

But this isn't just an AKB, Korea wave thing. Fads are serious business in Japan. Once someone is popular, they are every-fucking-where with 5 tv shows and thousands of promotions. Then they burn out. I know people are desperate to make a quick buck on the latest gimmick but it gets so old, so fast.

I actually really like them, too! Which is odd, because I've never been able to get much into the 48-franchise. But all the girls they had in the chocolate CM were adorable and so was the song, so I'm going to keep paying attention for now.

Their version of Aitakatta.

And their chocolate CM, with a BTS.

Here is their other version of Aitakatta (the original) and they sound exactly like the original 48s. Posted Image I SEE NO DIFFERENCE AKIMOTO!

Especially the lip sync. Probably the one reason I don't care as much about the 48s, they do a heck of a lot of lip syncing to their music instead of actual singing.

Is their version a "remix" of the sorts? Because I liked their instrumental a lot more than AKB's, but I'm going to be honest and say that I don't really remember AKB's version. The verses sounded good but the chorus fell apart. But the vocals sound the same, so it feels meh to me. It's dumb for a "rival" group to do covers of their "rival" group song and change little imo. I try so hard to get into the AKB and their brethren groups and the only one I like is still no3b/no sleeves. sigh

Here's AKB's original Aitakatta to compare. To tell you the truth it's my favorite AKB song, so the Nogimix-version is kinda lacking for me.

Just now watched the commercial. The first girl that came out with the short hair reminded me of Kago.

Her name's Ikoma Rina and it looks like she's their center for now. That Ikuta Erika girl is supposed to be exactly how Maeda was back when she debuted, but they decided not to make her center.

Apparently Akimoto said this was supposed to be a more 'vocal' group but he was obviously just talking out of his ass. I hear they won't be having a theater. They even have their own top 7, only they're called the Shichifukujin.

Here's their senbatsu:

Posted Image

In order: Ikuta Erika, Ikoma Rina, Ichiki Rena, Inoue Sayuri, Kawamura Mahiro, Saito Asuka, Saito Yuri, Sakurai Reika, Shiraishi Mai, Takayama Kazumi, Nakada Kana, Nishino Kanase, Noujou Ami, Hashimoto Nanami, Hoshino Minami, Matsumura Sayuri

Shiraishi Mai, Matsumura Sayuri, Hashimoto Nanami, Ikoma Rina, Takayama Kazumi, Ikuta Erika, and Hoshino Minami are their "Shichifukujin".

But at the same time, I still really like them for some reason.

Go me for picking out one of the top girls. Posted Image Everyone likes a Kago-look-a-like.

I noticed a lot of these girls have short hair. I noticed that a lot of the 48s don't, like.. maybe a few and that;s for all the 48 groups combined.

That could be their thing, short hair to distinguish themselves from the 48s. 8o

It's seriously old-school. But it's kind of charming in that aspect.

Ugh, why do they lift up the skirts like that? Like that photo above, I am embarrassed thinking how if someone walking by sees it and asks me what it is, how I would explain it. Come on, think of the girls (and the girl listeners). D: I think the outfits would work better if they weren't hanging off their bodies too. They remind me of summer dresses that are usually a bit more form fitting than that. But then, there's that slit in the back, ugh. Give me a torch so I can burn it!

...I ranted a bit, but the point of this post was to say their song was cute. If it had more solo parts I'd like it more, but I did like it. I don't know if I'd put it on a playlist and listen to it often though, seems like a mood sort of song.

So the PV is out.

It's pretty simple compared to anything 48 puts out. But then again this group doesn't have the money behind it yet to match anything the 48s can put out.

So... Nogi48, I mean 46 has a PV for their C/W. Which is the remake of Aitakatta. And they aren't throwing any punches. It's a remake, right down to the PV. [News]

Oh and apparently Maeda is there too. She doesn't look very rivalish. She looks more like Takahashi giving off the, oh I remember when I did that, type of vibe.

Are they going to be like S/mileage and remake all of AKB48's songs, like all the other 48s do? They are going to be SONYFIED!
