Preordered. I wasn't initially going to as I am so broke right now, but this deserves my support and....oh the Jurina!

^You could get them for around half price on auctions, since the wota just buy 'em for the handshake tickets. I'm torn between this and getting the bonus photos.

But Jurina FTW.

AKB took over all of Oricon. I mean, OriKB48Billion$.

Oricon has released its sales rankings for 2011, and as expected, AKB48 holds the top 5 spots on the single charts. Their total sales – counting CDs, DVDs, and Blu-rays – add up to 16.28 billion yen and 8.911 million copies sold. The group has set a new record for ranking #1 in 7 of Oricon’s 16 categories, including achieving their first #1 in the Total Artist Sales ranking.

Just last week, AKB48 released their 5th single of the year, “Ue Kara Mariko.” All five have sold more than a million copies, making them the five best selling singles of 2011. Up until now, three artists had achieved the top 3 singles for the year (Pink Lady in 1978, Hikaru Genji in 1988, and Arashi in 2009), but AKB48 is the first to take the top 5.

For singles released by a female group, “Flying Get” broke the previous record of 1.554 million copies, set by Pink Lady’s “UFO” in 1978.

AKB48 also now holds the record for most million-selling singles in a year, surpassing B'z and Mr.Children’s previous records of 4, set in 1995. They sold a total of 7.346 million singles, breaking Mr.Children’s record of 6.63 million (also set in 1995).

The 7 categories topped by AKB48 in Oricon’s yearly rankings are:

  • Total sales by artist (16.28 billion yen, new record for a female group)
  • Copies sold for a single (“Flying Get” – 1.587 million, new record for a female group)
  • Total sales for a single (“Everyday, Kachusha” – 2.15 billion yen)
  • Total sales by artist, for singles (9.59 billion yen)
  • Copies sold for a music Blu-ray (“AKB ga Ippai” – 148,000)
  • Total sales for a music Blu-ray (“AKB ga Ippai” – 1.01 billion yen)
  • Total sales by artist, for Blu-rays (1.01 billion yen)

And then there were 4! Mayu Watanabe is making her solo debut in Februrary and singing the theme song to her drama she'll be in.

Also :: Preview for SKE's next single are up. I'm sure it'll be their best selling single to date, I have No idea why that would be though. Posted Image

I'm turning into such an NMB48 stan. I really, really love Sayanee, Nana and Milky, triad of awesome. Has anyone got their new single? I can't wait to hear Sayanee's solo.

The A-side is great too.

Her solo is already on Youtube, I believe. Someone posted it over at Arama. It's a ballad and it's kind of boring.

When did DiVA get 6 new members? Anyway, short PV of their next single, Lost the Way. (It reminds me of something I've heard of before, I think an old Nami Tamaki song)

DiVA has always had revolving members actually, I think on their first single they had 8, then went to 4 for Area K and Cry, and I don't think it was even the same 4 for Area K as it was for Cry, but I can't 100% remember cause I don't like Area K much and have only watched the video like twice. They also had backup dancers on Cry, kinda like the Avex dancers. Which isn't too weird since they're produced by Avex..Which would also fairly explain it sounding like a Tamaki Nami song..

It was always the four plus the backup dancers. They were going to hold auditions for non-AKB members, though. At least for DiVA. You might be thinking of DIVA, Aeugn. The b-side group, not the subgroup.

The new 6 are what Anderei said, new dance members found by auditions. Kinds like EXILE.

So good quality version of JKT48's Heavy Rotation MV is out.

Anyone else hear about these JKT scandals involving boyfriends and such?
I know two members have already dropped out siting "school" which is totally understandable considering they have more work cut out for them then regular 48 groups. Though you never know in the world of idols. 8o

SDN48 released the full PV for their last single, Makeoshimi Congratulation. *(Song starts at 3:00)*

Looks like they borrowed Morning Musume's Kimagure Princess set for the dance shot.

God forbid they use someone in AKB48 to fill the spot, blasphemy! Posted Image

I can understand needing to fill out contracts and whatnot but taking someone from SDN? Unless of course Akimoto is making another 48 group or something similar after SDN is gone. Dream48? Oooh yeah I went there. Posted Image

I'd rather have CinDY then, let's say, Kanakana or something.

Speaking of SDN48, have some Owaranai Encore! http://www.youtube.c...h?v=X84EmkxvNpc Get some tissues handy, because this song is a doozy.

Maeda Atsuko is graduating AKB48!

No details yet on when and where, but I'm sure it'll be a big event.

Only time will tell if they can get someone that can take over Maeda's spot. I personally never liked her so anything is better in my opinion. Now that AK48 is so mainstream it might be hard to find the right girl.
I think this was the reason they are having 36 girls in the next single, give Japan something new and different to look at besides the usual.

Well there goes 1 of 8 that I knew. Now back to 7.

I'm just getting into AKB. The music is fun, the TV is fun, but I've yet to see a live performance that doesn't bore me to death. Any suggestions?

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU---- I am so sadden by this.

They sold about 135,000 cds during senbatsu based on voting for her alone. :cryalot: Why would you graduate your most popular member when you are trumping the idol industry for the formula you currently have working? :cryalot:

Too bad 2 of the 3 good performers in that are gone/leaving! <_<

Anyways, yeah. I'm not upset Acchan is leaving at all! She looks like a dead fish when she's performing and her voice really isn't that great. I never got the love people had for her...but eh, I wish her well in the future.

Look at.. a lot of the MM OG. :hahaha: I'm curious if they'll have a good way of handling losing the other senbatsu. They're getting old by idol standards. Mariko sticks out like a sore thumb. Like Iida back in the day.

Totally OT, but I just had an epiphany that Takamina reminds me of Bada from S.E.S. probably the ponytail and that she is also the singer of the group. :hahaha:

To be honest, I had this feeling that someone popular was going to graduate this year and my thoughts it would be either her or Mariko. I guess that explains why Akimoto pusing out less popular girls and puting the SKE and NMB girls in AKB. The group is crumbling right before our eyes!!!!!
