:danceman:

I'm not sure if this will be kept in this section or as a separate thread at all. We'll think about that later, but now for a good start let's quote the classics:

The premise of this thread is that you (yes, you!) can add any lines or make corrections wherever you wish, even if it's just one line. To put it one way, it's like the collaboration that goes on on a wiki, but without the wiki software. Or to put it another way, it's like the collaboration that'd go on on open source software.

There are [/will be] a lot of holes, but every little bit helps and I'm asking everyone here to expand this if they can. Don't worry about timing anything; we'll do that later. The timestamps on this are just rough guidelines to show where in the episode the lines should go.

I figure that the number that can half-ass understand what's going on is somewhat high, at least much higher than the number of people who have a full understanding and are able to take the time to do a full translation.

Just a few guidelines to make the process smooth:
- If there's a longer gap between the dialogues, insert a new timestamp.
- If you're skipping one line in the middle of an otherwise translated dialogue, make sure to mark it (a bunch of "???" or "..." will do).
- For now, do not mark who says what unless necessary, it makes inserting the lines into a timed script harder.
- When you spot a mis-translation, correct it!
- Focus on getting the meaning accurate, don't worry if the translation becomes too wordy or awkward. Editors will fix that.
- Enjoy, because you're awesome for contributing even one line.

Here's what I did so far with my non-existent Japanese skills. It's mostly trivial lines that anyone could do, but here's hoping this will be an incentive enough for YOU to fill the gaps so we can make it a complete sub. =3=

Timestamps based on this source.

1:06
Good morning.
Wait... Or was it "good evening"?
...
...
I hate it.
I hate it SO much.
...
...
Sine, cosine...
Tangent!

1:59
No one's here yet?
So that's the school I'm starting in today? (??)
Hey, come here, come on.
Ah, aren't you cute

2:53
Oh noes, I'm late! (??)
Hurry up, let's not be late! (??)
Let's all do our best today!

4:04
Your class is all cute girls, you know? (??)

4:20
Good morning everyone!
Good mornin'
It's true... They're all cute!
You will have a new classmate starting today.
His name is Kazuki.
Introduce yourself. (??)
My name is Sato Kazuki.
Sato Kazuki.
I'm Sato Kazuki... Sato Kazuki!
K-K-Kazuki!
His name is Robert Paulson Sato Kazuki!
Do you remember it now?
All right Kazuki, take your seat. (??)

5:10
Lookin' good.

5:25
That girl isn't here I guess?
Okay, let's start.
Uh-oh... Niina isn't here?

6:02
It was you earlier!
What on earth was that Niina?

6:35
And who might you be?
Ah, I transferred here today, my name is Kazuki.

6:44
What... What?
Are you going to eat now?
Want a bite?
No, no, I'm fine!

7:07
What, no, it wasn't me!
She went to sleep?!

7:24
She's cute, but...
Really weird. (??)

8:07
What kind of a school is that...?
Ah, transfer student!
Wanna see something? Come on! (??)

8:25
Hey you! Niina! Stop right there!
(??)
She's really pissing me off!

8:45
Hey, where are we going?!

10:28
Big sis...

10:45
Good morning.

11:00
That's not it.
I see. It's about your sister?

11:35
I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Thank you.
Ah, I'm so thirsty! (??)
Gonna have some water.

12:07
You! You saw my panties!
What?!
That's disgusting!
(??)
You pervert! Stay away from me!
I saw you do it!
You stared at Sayu's panties.
(??)
I saw that too!
(??)

12:50
This new guy was looking at my panties!
I didn't do it!

15:00
And thus, the battle's about to begin.

15:35
Well then... Let's begin!
I'll show you who's the number one maths girl here! (??)

16:17
Something's not right...

16:25
How long is your skirt again?

16:51
You can do it!

17:02
All done!

19:35
Niina wins!
Kazuki is innocent!
What a relief...
Well then...
Time for your punishment, isn't it? (??)
Stop it! It's embarrassing!

20:03
Excuse me... But what are you doing?

22:05
Hi everyone, how are you?

23:00

I'll do a few of them when I can fit some time in if no one else is, but I know zero math vocabulary.

1:06
Good morning.
Well, considering when this airs, maybe "Good evening," would be better...
By the way, do you like math?
For me, without a doubt, I hate it.
FREA-KING-HATE-IT!
When would you ever use pi in the real world?
Would solving equations really enrich your life?
Sine. Cosine. Tangents. Limits. Integrals. Factors.
They're all for the dogs!
No! Not even dogs!

1:59
Doesn't look like anyone's here...
Looks like I'm stuck her from today on...
Can I really cut it here?
Come here!
You're a cutie, aren't you?
Where did you come from?

2:53
I'm late!
Better hurry up!
Everyone, remember to keep your heads on straight in the morning, okay?

3:08
Did you play any sports before now?
I played table tennis for about three months.
So short! But you've got the look of a table tennis player.
Um, excuse me, but that's this on the blackboard?
Huh? It's out calculations.
Wha?
Well, this IS a math academy.
MATH!
Yeah, it's our specialty.
But I'm just average in math, there's no way I can do this.
Really?
Yes.
Someone probably screwed up somewhere then...
Is there still time for me to transfer to another school?
It's be pointless now.
But I'm allergic to math!
What about this one?
I used to teach there before this school.
Take a look at this.
It's the "Hey! Hey! 'Sup!" High School.
Hey! Hey!
Uh... I don't think...
Yeah, it wouldn't match your character, would it?
Go ahead and give this place a shot.
Your class is made up of all cute girls.
It'll be great!
If you say so...

4:20
Okay everyone, good morning!
Good morning.
Wow, everyone actually is cute!
Starting today, he's going to be a new classmate.
Kazuki-kun!
You have anything to way?
I'm Kazuki Sato!
I'm Kazuki Sato!
I'm Kazuki Sato!
I'm Kazuki Sato!
Ka-ka-Kazuki...
This is Kazuki Sato!
Remember it, okay?
Okay, Kazuki, your seat's over there.
Yes sir.
Not too bad...
Doesn't look too useful, does he?
I guess that girl isn't in here...
Alright, time to begin!
Huh? Guess Nina's taking the day off...
Ah-a-Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Wha-?!?
The girl from...
Nina, what the hell are you doing?
I was napping on the roof and thought I'd be late, so I figured that Tarzan-swinging in would be the fastest.
I'll never figure that idiot out, as usual...
Since v=√2gh...
But it looks like I generated too much energy...
Well, I'll forgive you since you used applied learning.
Don't make a habit of it.
Yes, sir.
Okay, open to page 15...
So today we'll be studying...
Who are you?
I'm Kazuki Sato. I just transferred here today.
She asked and she's not even listening to my answer?!?
What? What is she?!?
Now she's eating!?!
You want a bite?
I'm good...
Don't sweat it! It's good! Mentaiko bread!
Hey, wait!
Ha ha! You're funny!
Hey!
Kazuki! Are you already causing trouble?
This isn't mine!
Now she's sleeping?!?

That seems to be about the first 1/3 of the episode, but I need a break. The one line I had the hardest time with and am still not sure about is Maimi's at 5:18. I think she says "dairi" but I've listened to it 20 times and am still not sure.

So I guess I'll do a little more, but don't expect this from me for every episode. I just happen to be sick at home on a Friday with free time tonight.

7:24

She's cute, but what a weirdo...
503.
709.
Huh? What's going on?
Prime numbers.
Whoever can name the most wins.
Prime numbers?
Everyone has scuffles at this school,
So everyone is aiming to become the Math Boss through math battles.
Math Boss?
Yes.
It's like how punks in other schools fight to find out whose the toughest.
But here, it's math instead of fists.
If you can win enough battles and weather the challenges, you could claim the title of "Math Boss."
What the hell kind of school is this?
New kid? What are you doing out here? Come on!

8:17

How's that tutor you were talking about before?
Is he hot?
Well, as you know I'm super cute, so when it comes time to study...
Kyaa!
Hey, Nina! Wait!
Sorry! In a hurry!
That Nina really pisses me off.
Yeah, she's such a hick.
You should really put her in her place.
Yeah, you're so much smarter than her, after all.
I am, aren't I...

8:45

Where are you taking me?
I'm gonna teach ya something.
Are you trying to become the Math Boss too?
Yeah, that's the reason most students are at this school!
I don't really get it...
But Nina also has another reason...
Another reason?
It's not your concern. Come here!
And we've arrived!
This is the school store.
You can get everything from chocolate to books here!
You're giving me a tour? Thanks a lot!
So when Nina tells you "Mentaiko bread!" this is where you get it.
I like you, so from today on, you'll be running my errands!
What the hell?
You can't just tell me to do that!
Well then, how about my slave?
That's worse...
Okay, my little slave?
Putting "little" in front of it doesn't make it any better!
Ah, man up and quit you're bitching!
Just do what I say! Got it?
Yes ma'am...
Good!
Ah, looks like the new kid's a pushover.
Does she think she's a queen now?
How about we put the two of them in their place?
If we ignore this, they'll just get worse.
That sounds good.
Doesn't it?
This should absolutely put them in their place...

10:30

Big sis...
Good morning.
I know what you're thinking...
"Roe and bread is a great combination."
"I wonder who came up with that idea?"
Nope...
I know. You're thinking about your older sister, right?
Have you learned anything?
I have no idea where she's gone.
I see...
Sis disappeared not long after she became the Math Boss at this school.
I figure if I follow in her footsteps, I can figure out what happened to her.
I won't give up.
No matter what, I'll find her.
I'm rooting for you.
Thank you.
Ah, I'm parched. Gonna grab some water!

11:50

Why am I doing this again?
At least they weren't sold out...
But why am I letting her get away with this?
Kyaa!
You saw my panties, didn't you?!?
Me?!?
Stay away! Pervert!
Stay back!
I saw him too!
He was sneaking a peek at Sayu's panties.
Wha-? No I wasn't!
I was watching from that window and saw the new kid peeping at them too.
With this many people seeing you're true colors, you're better off leaving this school, aren't you?
No way... It's like I'm being kicked around by a bunch of punks...
Ah!
How long does it take you to get my mentaiko bread?
The new kid was peeping at my panties!
No I didn't!
It's probably Nina's fault anyway...
He's most likely stressed out because of you.
You're the one making him fetch stuff, aren't you?
So if I told the principal, Nina would be in for some trouble, and the new kid would be booted out, wouldn't he?
No way...
So... What were her panties like?
I said I didn't do it!
I may suck at math, but I'd never do something as dirty as looking up a girl's skirt!
I think so too.
He's not capable of it.
Are you going against my word? With all these witnesses?
It's probably a mistake... Or are you guys up to something?
O-hohoho!
O-hohoho!
How interesting...
Just what you'd expect from such a hick.
Sayu! Nina won't put up with you bullying weaklings!
But you're worse than her!
We'll let math determine it.
If you can prove he did it, you win.
If I can prove he didn't peek, Nina wins.
Agree?
Fine. I'll take you on.
Running from this challenge would besmirch the good name of women from Yamaguchi!
You're also a country girl?!?
But whoever loses gets punished...
Bring it on!

Ya better appreciate it! I could have been level 45 in Old Republic by now!

15:01

And now, the battle begins.
We're trying to prove if the new kid peeked at Sayuri's panties, henceforth known as "Sayupan."
I haven't been able to stand you from the first day of school...
It's the perfect time to be rid of you once and for all!
There's no way I can lose.
To become the Math Boss...
To find out what happened to my big sis...
Very well. Start!
I'm the school's top mathematician, aren't I?
The new kid and I were three meters apart.
The stairs are at a 45 degree angle, which would also make it three meters high.
The distance from the ground to my skirt is 60 centimeters.
Therefore, the perfect spot for peeking at my panties would be Theta (Θ).
There's something wrong here...
It seems correct but... Aha!
How long is your skirt, exactly?
Your skirt is shorter than you're claiming!
28 centimeters high.
35 centimeters wide.
She's measuring it with her hand?
Got it!
Do it!
It's done.
X is the height where you'd just be able to see the panties.
Using the measurements of the skirt, you get the tangent of Theta, 28 over 30, which comes out to 0.8.
That would make the optimal viewing angle 38 degrees.
From the subject's point of view, the tangent of Theta is 360-x over 300, which makes x=120 centimeters.
That would mean, at Kazuki's height of 170 centimeters, he couldn't have possibly seen Sayupan.
Yes!
But that's only if the new kid was standing up straight, isn't it?
You've just shown that if he was below 120 centimeters he could see my panties, correct?
She did...
Don't you remember? The new kid was hunched over at that time to see my panties!
Uh, yeah, he was!
They're lying!!!
Hmm.
What?
Then this battle is over...

18:29
Then this battle is over...
Earlier, Kyo-chan said she saw Kazuki looking at your panties while she watched from the second floor window, right?
Yeah. What about it?
If Kazuki was really crouched down, she wouldn't be able to see him from the window due to the angle.
She's right. You wouldn't he able to see Kazuki from that window unless he was standing up.
If Kazuki wanted to see Sayupan, he's have to duck down like this, which means you wouldn't be able to see him from the second floor.
Your claims seems to contradict each other.
No way...
Victory is mine!
Sine!
Cosine!
Mentaiko!
Nina wins!
Kazuki-kun is found innocent!
I'm so relieved...
Now then... The promised punishment!
Eh?!?

19:47

Stop! I'm so embarrassed!
You should be! It's a punishment!
Wah! Stop it! You're going too far! Too far!
Um... What's going on exactly?
What do you mean? If you lose a math battle, you've got to face a punishment.
This is kind of fun, actually! It's like I'm a pin up girl!
Hey, you're not supposed to enjoy it!
Punishments aren't supposed to be that easy!
Yah!!!
Iyaa! It's too much! Iyaa!
What the hell is up with this school?!?
You said you hated math, didn't you?
Yeah.
But math is what proved you innocent.
Without it, everyone would still think you're a peeping Tom.
Kyaa!

Someone else can take care of the after credit banter between Sayu and Reina.

Edit: Crap, Al beat me to it. I wish this board would let you know these things -_- Oh well, now you have two sets of translations to work with xD

15:00
And now the battle begins.
The case in point is of the transfer student, Sato Kazuki.
Did he look at Sayuri's panties, for short "SayuPan"
or not?
Ever since we started school
you've been a pain in my ass
This is a perfect opportunity
I'm going to crush her to the ground
I can't lose at a time like this
To become the Math Boss...
To see the same scenery as my sister...
Alright... Start!
I am
the number one math girl!
The lateral distance between me and the transfer student was 3 meters.
The angle of the stairs at our location was 45 degrees
we can accept the height as 3 meters
On top of that,
the length of my legs is 60cm
Thus, the angle of elevation for peeking
is theta.
(clapping)
Wow, just as expected
Something's not right
This wraps it up but...
No!
How long was your skirt?
By your math your skirt is super short!
What the hell?
Length: 28 cm
Width: 35cm
Whaa? Measured by hand?
I've got it!
You can do it!
Finished!
What we're looking for
is this short height for peering at her panties, x.
If we concentrate on the length of the skirt,
tangent theta = 28/35 = 0.8
In other words,
the angle he had for peering was approximately 39 degrees.
Then, according to the (???) condition [theorum?],
tangent theta = 360 - x/300
X becomes equal to 120 cm
In other words,
if we take into account Kazuki's height of 190cm,
he couldn't have looked at SayuPan from the bottom of those stairs.
Wow!
Yes!
That's only...
if the transfer student was standing right?
According to the math
if he were under 120cm,
he could have looked at my panties.
Right?
That's right!
I just remembered!
At that time, the transfer student
was kneeling down to look at my panties!
Yeah, he did.
That's...a lie!
Hmf.
What?
Alright, the real battle is starting.
Earlier Kyo-chan said it, didn't she?
She could see Kazuki looking [at your panties] from the 2nd floor window.
Yeah...so what?
But, if Kazuki was kneeling...
The second floor window would be right in this square.
There's no way she could have seen Kazuki.
She's right!
To be able to see from the 2nd floor window...
Kazuki would have had to be standing.
For Kazuki to see SayuPan,
he would need to be kneeling.
But then,
he wouldn't be visible from the 2nd floor window.
In other words,
what you're trying to say
is a contradiction!
No way...
Victory is mine!
Sign! Cosign! Mentaiko!
Woow!
Nina wins!
Kazuki-kun is innocent!
Thank goodness!
Alright, as promised
You'll be punished.
Whaaaat?
Hey! How embarrassing! No stop!
Of course! This is punishment.
Noo noo stop, you're over doing it!
Um...
What.... is this?
Huh? It's part of the plan. It's a tradition.
If you lose a battle, you get punished.
Ah! But it's kind of fun!
I'm sexy riiiight?
What are you smiling about?
Punishment isn't that easy!
[Buttons read low - medium - high. Reina hits high]
Hyaaa!
Aaaaah noo!
What is up with this school?
Hey you...
You said you hate math, right?
Yeah.
But it was math that saved you from a false accusation, right?
If it wasn't for math,
you'd be stuck as a pervert.
Kyaaaa!

TnB, don't worry about it, having an alternative translation at hand will help me a lot when editing or if I have any doubts. Starting from the next episode I'll ask that one make a quick post saying which part of the show they are working on currently and then edit it to paste the translation.

I'm halfway through timing what you all have posted. Still need a translation of the Sayu and Reina talk at the end of the episode, as well as the Japanese signs and writing that shows up (the girls' names etc.).

There are also 3 lines so far that are either missing or need verification, I'll post a full list once I'm done.

Timing's done! And most of typesetting too. Too bad you can't see it, because it looks pretty damn sexy already. :pimp:

The missing lines:

2:23 - the last thing Reina says when playing with her pussy kitten.
4:09 - the last thing the teacher says to Kazuki before going to the class, sounds like よし、よし、いらっしゃいませ. I translated it as "Well then, welcome on board", but someone please verify.
6:22 - when Reina is throwing the rope out. It's probably some onomatopoeia, but I made it into "Out with you!", is that ok?
8:51 - what Reina says in response to "Are you trying to become the Math Boss too?", before bumping into the group of girls.

This makes the following TO DO list:

1. Check the missing lines above.
2. Translate the dialogue at the end of the episode.
3. Translate the captions and signs.

Once that's done it's almost good to go, so don't let us down now.

2:23 she's just making noises you would like with a baby sort of like playing peek-a-boo.
4:09 I totally missed that line because it's so quick, but it does sound like Irrashaimase, so "Come on in!"
6:22 is more of a sound made when you physically exert yourself, so something like "Heave-ho!" would work.
8:51 I've got her response tacked on to the statement about people coming to the school to become math boss since she pretty much just says "yeah" or "of course!"

I've got to run out to dinner, but I can finish the last bit when I get back if no one else has had a chance to. The names were hard because they have many possible readings, so I gave them my best guess =/

I believe the ending talk goes:

OMGUGUYZDIDUWATCHITWAZSOAWESOMWGKAJLAJsfLJLFJAAAAH!!!!!!

Read: Yeah, I'm not touching that xD

Fair enough, saves me the torture of timing it. =3= If someone does translate it then I'll do it, but I won't let it block the release in case no one does.

3:54 - (I can't see this clear enough to figure out the kanji)

You mean all the writing in the school brochure? We can safely skip this one.

4:17 - "The World is Founded on Math" - Newton [Someone please find the original quote and correct it, I sadly don't know it xD]

Because it does not seem to be a Newton quote at all, haha. Unless my Internets are lying to me, it's the Japanese title of a maths book by one Lynn Steen, which in original is a reference to one of Newton's quotes, but it's not even close to what they put in the Japanese version.

Either way, I'll leave it as you have translated it, and I may or may not put a Translator's Note explaining that Newton never actually said that.

Ah, it's all right, we don't need full ending credits. At least not now - I promised myself to make it simple, quick and dirty, but I already couldn't help myself with the opening credits. :hahaha:

Unless you've already translated some of them, then skip everything after the "Ending Theme" caption, and only start again at 21:45 (Chief Producer etc.). Sorry, I should have been more clear on that.

Is that the actual quote in the image? Because I can't find that anywhere. Not even remotely close to anything I've found on Newton has all those words strung together.

Unless it's just another way of saying, Numero pondere et mesura Deus omina condidit. "God created everything by number, weight and measure." It's the only thing I can think of that it would be. Posted Image

Yeah. It seems to be just a bunch of Yankee stuff put there to scare off the transfer guy.

Oh good, I feel a lot better xD I already was feeling stupid because I don't get ANY of this math shit.

Yes, that's how it best translates. Technically where I used "founded" they used "で出来た" which is literally "made out of/made from." I did my best google searching and couldn't come up with any Newton quote either xD

Ending talk:

How's everyone doing? Math-loving Nina here!
Nina-loving Sayuri Tachikawa here!
So how was that first episode?
It's finally begun.
Yeah, it's really started!
What does everyone think?
Yeah, tell us!
Tell us!
I'm not hearing any responses...
Hey, everyone tell us how it was!
Uh-oh, Sayu's getting mad!
You wouldn't like me when I'm angry...
We HATE YOU ALL!!!
But if you watch, we'll love you!
Let's watch then.
Yeah, watch them all! But don't record it.
Why not?
Because then it won't count for the ratings. Please watch it when it airs!
Reina doesn't care how you watch it as long as you do!
No, stop pampering them!
My bad.
Don't be so Rei-nice! (she makes the pun "amaku-Reina" for the term "amakunai")
Great one! I'm sor-Reina! ("shitsuReina" instead of "shitsureishimasu")
It's just going to get better from now on.
Yeah, it's gonna be interesting. Check it out!
It's like, when the two of us are always together... (audio fades out)

Cripes, they talk fast. That was almost more work than the rest of the episode.

For the rest of the episodes, of someone wants to do quick and dirty, main point kind of translations, especially if the math vocabulary gets more difficult, I'll take it and watch the episodes along side it and rewrite it into conversational English. I won't have the time to sit down and do the whole thing from scratch, most likely, but I should be able to completely tweak/edit a script in a couple of hours.

Thanks everyone for your hard work! It was totally worth it. So download, sit back, and enjoy.

Oh, and see you next Wednesday. =3=

Sounds good. I only had to do a few edits to your script (and that mostly to fit the lines etc.), so you being the last in the translation chain will help a lot.

Does anyone here have access to the raw files before they pop up on the popular trackers? On the shady Japanese P2P networks, or whatever is in fashion now? I'm totally out of that loop, and we could benefit a lot from it, in both speed and quality. Only now people started uploading better quality raws to H!O, but it was too late for me to readjust everything.

Anyway, I'll start the next collab thread when the show airs. As long as I get the translation it should be pretty fast now, as half the work on this one was creating styles and other one-off tasks. I'll worry about doing karaoke once we get official lyrics and a translation on PH.

Nice! But should me maybe market it as being from Blog Project instead of MMBBS to get a bit more name recognition out there? Just for the extra promotion. And the fact that there's still tons of FanDumb hate for us.

I think he was waiting for Project Hello versions of the songs so he could match them up to them.

Good idea. We'll probably have song lyrics for the next episode, so I'll be redoing those parts a little. Maybe I'll plug all our affiliated sites somehow, like the show sponsors in the credits.

But I want the BBS to be displayed prominently still - for the fearful ones to come and confront their fears, for the butthurt ones to squirm in jealousy, and for the falsely accusing ones to feel as dumb as they deserve to. :eyepatch:

Yup, want to keep it all in-house, so I'll wait for a PH version. I don't think the official lyrics are out anywhere yet, so other sites must be based on guesstimates from 2ch and they're often wrong.
