Apparently Yuu just wasn't feeling it anymore. Damn. They've been my favorite band for nearly a decade now. I was watching a bunch of Judy And Mary vids yesterday and thinking how they were one of the bands that I wish I had been able to see live, while also thinking that as long as Go! Go! 7188 were still together there was at least a chance I might see them. Not any more. All of the links to my JPop introduction in 2000 are now either gone or boring. Over 12 years they released eight albums, all of them great, even their so-called "bad" ones. Go! Go! 7188 on their worst day was still better than nearly every other rock band in the world.

Much like Jpope, they were one of my introductions to the world of Jrock. I'm now crying I didn't go see them when they were touring with Japan Nite at that music festival in Austin. This is sad news.

JPope, you expressed my exact sentiments. They were far and away my favorite Japanese group. I often lamented the end of Judy and Mary and I had high hopes of seeing GO!GO! in the US. This blows. They even came to Atlanta and I didn't go. LIKE AN IDIOT.
I guess at least Yuu will continue in some capacity. Her solo album is forever on my desert island albums list. But it just won't be the same. Ugh.

Ukifune
Otona no Kusuri

I have a real soft spot for Ashi no Ke, whether or not it's in their top songs. Like JPope said, even bad GO!GO!7188 is awesome.

They were my favorite band for a time as well.
I will try to see this positively. They can now form new bands and do great things we are not expecting!

Turtle, and anyone who hasn't-- check out Yuu's solo album. I bullied Pucchi and EmEl into listening to it and both admitted it was pretty great. It's got the most insane combination of styles and some absolutely incredible moments. Seriously one of my all time favorite albums by anyone anywhere ever. I AM FANGIRLING.

I played their entire catalog at work today. It's weird how, even though I followed their career from nearly start to finish, I still feel like I took then for granted a lot. Like I just assumed they'd always be there, so I didn't always appreciate them as much as I might have. Then again, anytime anyone asked who my favorite band was, the answer was Go!Go! 7188.Thanks to this I am going through old songs. I forgot how much I loved some of these. Umashika Mono, for example.
And Holy Wapiko sighting! I don't post here much anymore, but have I just managed to miss your posts or did you just make a return recently?

Hahaha, what's up Pope!?!? And why is Yuko in your avatar not wearing your trademark mitre? I just came back last night
Right on. Welcome back!
I haven't been using the mitre for years. I got lazier as I got older.
