Rainbow is a pretty new (November 2009) girlband by DSP Media (other groups from DSP: SS501, Kara and Sunha).

Their first song was Gossip Girl in November 2009. It was released on a 5-song mini-album.

In August 2010 DSP made a "digital single" with them simply called A. (pretty fucking awesome song)



Kim Jae Kyung (김재경)



Birthday: 1988 December 24th

Position: Leader, Vocal, Lead Dancer

In Charge Of/Image Color: "The Charismatic Leader", Red

Education: Dongduk Women's University, currently majoring in clothing design

Talents: Sexy dance, nail art (French manicure)

Interests: Making accessories

Goo Woo Ri (고우리)



Birthday: 1988 February 22nd

Position: Vocal, Rapper

In Charge Of/Image Color: Oldest. "Sexy Rapper", Orange

Education: Korea National Sport University majoring in life long dance

Talents: Ballet, Rap

Weakness: Camera Conscious

Nicknames: Because she likes to take care of people, the other members call her "grandma".

Oh Seung A (오승아)



Real Name: Oh Semi

Birthday: 1988 September 13th

Position: Vocal, "Visual" (Referring to her beauty)

In Charge Of/Image Color: "[Pure, but] Eccentric girl", Indigo.

Education: Sangmyung University majoring in film studies (currently on a leave of absence)

Talents: Voice imitations (Scully, Lee Sora)



Other:

Likes to read books about financial technology. Participated in SS501's <Song Calling Out For You> and <UR Man> Music Videos.

Was in the same class of auditions as fellow label mates Goo Hara and Kang Jiyoung from Kara

Position: Vocal, Rap, "Visual" (like Seunga...basically saying they're there for looks)

Talents: Voice imitations (Spongebob, baby sounds)

Shortcomings: Nagging

Close childhood friends with SNSD's leader Taeyeon. Likes Hello Kitty. Participated in SS501's <Song Calling Out For You> MV.

Jung Yoon Hye (정윤혜)



Birthday: 1990 April 14th

Position: Vocal, "Visual" (like the other previous two)

In Charge Of/Image Color: "Lovely Violet." Violet.

Education: Dongduk Women's University, majoring in broadcast entertainment

Interests: Taking Self Cams

Talents: Facial Expressions

Shortcomings: Chatterbox, talks to herself

Nickname: Bunny



Other:

Goddamnit do her eyes scare me. They are so big and weird, especially in the A video.

Kim Ji Sook (김지숙)



Birthday: 1990 July 18th

Position: Main Vocal, "Visual" (that makes four of them haha)

In Charge Of/Image Color: Humorous tongue (referring to her wit). "Tomboy", Green.

Education: Hanyang Female University majoring in music (practice of)

Talents: Drinking yogurt drinks really fast, nail art (Jaekyung's proud student; specializes in gradients)

Shortcomings: Short-tempered



Other:

Even though she eats the most out of the group, she has the most ant-like waistline

She was recommended to join Rainbow by former Kara member Kim Sunghee, who was a fellow classmate in her music academy during high school.

She also looks similar to Taeyeon.

Cho Hyun Young (조현영)



Birthday: 1991 August 11th

In Charge Of/Image Color: "The Dizzying Youngest", Yellow.

Education: Graduated from Shingwang Female High School

Talents: Chinese, Voice imitations (Yoon Moonshik)

Nickname arising from a shortcoming: After returning the dorm she becomes "superNATURAL" (meaning naked). The members thus started calling her "Cho Eh Jok," meaning Amazonian.

Weaknesses: Fear of heights, low alcohol tolerance



Other:

The members say she wakes up the latest in the morning, but can get ready in just 3 minutes.



Short stories to learn a little bit more about Hyunyoung:

She wants to have captivating eyes, so she really likes strong eyeliner

Her brother is currently in the army. In a broadcast she said that Oh Seunga was the one she would want to introduced to her brother (reason: genuine face), and picked Goo Woori as the one she'd want to introduce the least.

Earned the nickname of "overdoer" when she does her kitten impersonation.

She's very afraid of heights. Usually the younger ones take the upper bunk, but she is an exception and uses the lower one. In a broadcast where they were at a military training camp, when faced with the rope drop, she cried buckets of tears, but finally was still able to succeed.

She wishes she had a higher tolerance for alcohol, but she can't even take one glass (she's guessing that it's genetic because her mom has low tolerance as well). The members all witnessed this once after a DSP dinner--after drinking one glass of alcohol, she had no idea where she was or lived and just fell asleep on a sofa somewhere. [My plan will be to get her drunk in case I ever meet her]

Most information taken from www.prismatic7.com, a (probably the biggest) english Rainbow fanforum. The members there are real koreaboos though, constantly using korean terms like "oppa" (older brother, said by a female) etc. Looking at the threads where people post their own age it's no surprise though, since most of them are 13~16...

I like Rainbow. They have more '80s bombast than most K-Pop. This new song is pretty good, although A is better, IMO.



So I did some brief research and my God, Hyun Young is so damn cute. How did I not see this. Now you got to her first.

My favourite member is clearly Hyun Young, Woo Ri is my #2 (she's extremely hot) and Jae is my #3.

An audiorip of their new song "Mach" has been on youtube for a few days now.

I can't yet say if I like or dislike it. Right now I don't even know for sure where exactly the refrain starts and ends...

I think there is some pig-disgusting autotune involved around the segments of 1:10, but I can't tell for sure.

From what I understood their first song will be "A" in September.
The commentators think they're sexy and call them the little sisters of KARA.

I'm not into this song, it's missing a certain thing, but I very much agree that Rainbow is better off not doing cutesy stuff. I just can't look at Woori, Jaekyung and Hyunyoung and think of a cute concept that would fit them.
