Re: Movies

Ghostbusters is possibly my all-time favorite movie. I haven't seen 2 in a long time, but I remember liking that too. Must be the nostalgia goggles. Time for me to review stuff. ____________________________ The Wolfman - I expected much more. Good acting, I guess, but mediocrity everywhere else. C 3...

Re: Movies

Shutter Island - By telling you that I can't tell you anything more without spoiling it, I've probably already said too much. A Get Shorty - Lots of funny dialogue and general goodness. A- Let the Right One In - A very different kind of horror movie. I didn't love it, but it was probably still a go...

Re: What are you playing?

I started playing Final Fantasy IV (emulated SNES hack-translation) a little while ago. I liked it a lot, so I stopped playing and bought the DS version, which is mostly an improvement. It's much shinier, but also much harder. Hard is not bad though, in this case. I'm aiming to beat this before XIII...

Re: What draws you to H!P?

I was originally drawn by the hawt tunes AND hawt girls. It was a combination that worked well on my late teenaged mind. They aren't as good as they were back then, but even if they were, I'm not sure I could appreciate them as much now. The only things that keep me attached to H!P at this point are...

Re: What are you playing?

The PS3 version of flOw is free today. I've heard it might be only today. I am playing it now and trying to figure out what/if the controls are. It's definitely interesting artistically. Also, Demon's Souls is having a White World Tendency event for the next few days. This means that enemies are no ...

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes - I was expecting something funnier than it was. I couldn't sit through the whole thing. ? Predator 2 - Not enough governors to compete with the first one. Re: What are you playing?

I remember saying here a while ago that I wasn't masochistic enough to want to play Demon's Souls. I guess I was wrong because I got it and I've been enjoying it a lot despite or maybe because of the difficulty. It has an interesting online functionality where you see other players in the same area ...

Re: Movies

Ghosts of Mars - It was a pretty good action movie that did what pretty good action movies are supposed to do. Mars was portrayed as a big desert where it is always nighttime, which is probably close enough, but felt kind of bland. It was just a background though, so it worked. B- Death to Smoochy ...

Re: Movies

Too many horror films lately. I should branch out. The Mist - It was a very faithful adaptation of a novella I liked a lot, but somehow, I didn't like it quite as much as a movie. Re: Movies

Predator I now know where a large number of commonly quoted catchphrases are from, which makes me feel slightly smarter. The movie was mostly about huge men firing machine guns, which made me feel slightly dumber. I've read some of that was meant as satire, so I won't feel guilty about having enjoy...

I will always treasure the ear-splitting screeches of her early years as a singer. She became boring once she learned to control her voice and now that she's lost it again, I look forward to what's next.

Recently seen movies: District 9 - Best aliens-oppressed-by-humans movie I've seen this year! Avatar was pretty great, but this was even better. A+ 9 - I liked it. The visuals were very imaginative, but most of the characters were pretty uninteresting besides looking cool. Story was OK. B

I saw Avatar yesterday. People are saying it's bad because similar stories have been done before? It's true, but 99% of fiction is like that. All the movies I've seen recently and my opinions of them with completely subjective letter grades: Star Trek - At least as good as the old movies. Unarguably shinier.
