Soundscan might also include foreign sales, which Oricon does not, but I'm not sure. I know someone was wondering how Arashi had 40k more in Soundscan vs. Oricon and that was an explanation given (since Arashi doesn't do anything really for their releases).
 
But yeah the difference is crazy.

From what I understand it's actually buy concert ticket, get free CD and it counts as a purchase.

I'm proud of them for doing well on their first day, but there is no way they were first, not with SKE selling over 500,000 copies on their first day...   I didn't realize they released on 3/31 (I thought they also released today) when C-ute released on 4/1... will those sales even count for this we...

I agree -- for example, Momoclo can get away with their lackluster singing ability (they're super pitchy) because everything else is done well.
 
Anyway I love Tanpopo so I was excited to see them perform that, but I think Riho went into it with the wrong singing style or something.

Does one of the Ebichu members talk with a funny voice or something along those lines? I think I've seen SMAP fans mentioning that.

Ah I have not been paying attention to them at all, so I had no idea - my bad.

They could have tried for 3/25 if they hadn't taken so long to announce -- Kisumai announced their single yesterday. Though Kisumai would probably win anyway with their 11 versions and being a Johnny's group.

There's been a bit of a thing on tumblr where people seem to think Sakura and Ayumi hate each other (there were a ton of H!P confessions about it), based on one gif set someone made.

That lighting drives me crazy.
 
Also, the thing that really threw me off about the PV was the completely different lighting between the dance shot and the close-up shots. The dance shots were so dark for some reason.

Oh yeah, I figured that after some more reading. I just had no idea of that policy in the first place, which was why I was wondering.

This isn't entirely H!P related, but I'm not sure where else to ask -- did Oricon stop counting copies that are sold to people not living in Japan? (like if you order off CD Japan)
