Rank the Worst Morning Musume Single Outfit of all Time!

ALL TIME! Seeing my dislike for the mega word score 47th single outfits, got me in the mood to play a little of the dislike game. We've complained about concert outfits in the past, but never focused on single outfits. So here's your chance to really let your feelings show.



I know in some cases Morning Musume used their budget wisely and gave the girls more then one outfit (ex. Mr. Moonlight, Koko ni Iruzee, and Onna ni Sachi Are) and anything pre-Love Machine was just hip and cool Rocker Musume being mature and crap so they really don't count and they were never "costumes" as they are today. So rank according to either single cover outfits or PV outfits.



And if you DO pick a PV outfit from a single that had a alternate cover image, how did you feel when you were jipped? Mr. Moonlight had this awesome space theme and then WTF we're going to swing into the 50s?!, or Koko ni Iruzee, I wanted flying nurses and all I got were some grimy military outfits!





In my case, Morning Musume has NEVER EVER worn a gold or yellow outfit I have ever liked. Ever. Four way tie between The Peace, Osaka Koi no Uta, Onna ni Sachi Are PV and Triple Word Score 47th Single for worst outfits of all time.

You already have my vote for Ambitious! Yashinteki de Ii jan but I'll have a think about a couple of others that make me wince everytime I see them.

Off the top of my head, Onna to Otoko no Lullaby Game is definitely up there. Giant white boots and cheap, badly fitted satin doily monstrosities.

I thought most of the Koi no Dance Site outfits worn in the live performances were pretty awful.



But as for outfits on an actual single/profile picture, Aruiteru and Amibitious take the cake for me.

I guess I just don't pay this much attention. When they're good then they're part of the overall image and I can't pin-point why exactly I do like them. When they're bad or just offensively cheap and plastic looking, then whatever - they're here now, but will be gone by the next single cover/tour/photoshoot/etc.



But I do share and second PQ's dislike for anything gold/yellow. And wish they would give girl-next-door or street fashion (think Shabondama) a go again, and in the longer run become fashion role models for kids. But that's a really long shot I suppose.

I don't realy care too much about the outfits.

I can't really say which ones are the worst, but Seishun Collection's green overalls were pretty damn ugly.



I actually like the Onna ni sachi are outfits, since they always gave off a cool and sexy varieté vibe, which resonated well with the video imho.

I really liked the Osaka Koi no Uta outfits - in the PV at least <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... pyeyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':puppyeyes:' /> They look like fairies!



This is hard because sometimes they wear super cute outfits on the cd cover but hideous outfits for the PV/performances (and vice versa). Here are some that I hate:



1. Seishun Collection - neon blue and green bodysuits?





2. Kigamure Princess - I don't know what the fuckery this was. Like homeless cowboys wearing toiletpaper strips.





3. Onna ga Medatte Naze Ikenai. Actually, these aren't as bad as say Aruiteru, but what makes it egregious was the PV set up as a model catwalk. They looked like they were wearing discarded Christmas tissue papers. Everyone looked huge and puffy and hideous.







Here are the ones I love:



1. Egao Yes Nude cover

Just seems like a bizarro family murder mystery in the making, doesn't it? I was very disappointed that these costumes had zero relevance to the PV or song.





2. Joshi Kamiagamsfasdfa; PV

I just like them wearing "normal" clothes I think.



3. Shoganai PV

Same here - but also, everyone just looks so pretty.

Onno Otoko no Lullaby Game is my close second only because It appears that they wanted to use the dresses in the flower shots as the main outfits but figured they were too bulky to dance in/too much going on all together so they made cheap nylon alternatives. but those other dresses were beautiful so it's hard to say it was the worst.



I'd have to say Egao YES Nude. Stripper flight attendant outfits in purple leopard print? Like, what the hell.



This topic would be better if we could include concert outfits. There's so many to choose from.

Agreed. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... pyeyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':puppyeyes:' /> It would be nice to see them do some sort of fashion brand collaboration, like S/mileage (and Ogawa Mana) with Cocolulu.



My choices:



Seishun Collection, Koi no Dance Site, Ambitious. Just based on the outfits they wore for the covers. I'd say in that order as well, though it's tough because Ambitious went through the extra effort to make multiple interchangable versions with the exact same hideous outfits, thereby raising the level of offense. But Seishun Collection wins by far for the exact reason Usako illustrated.

No one ever agrees with me on this XD I thought the Seishun Collection outfits were adorable, especially in motion. Then again, I love and almost exclusively dress in neon colors, so. . .



I also loved Kimagure and while I thought the Ambitious outfits looked awful in the single, they make for cute concert outfits, imo.



For me, pretty much everything from Morning Coffee to The Peace was awful, because 90's fashion is basically as bad as it gets. Seriously, the 80's were so much better. The 90's was everything terrible from the 80's, but on steroids, LOL. Egao Yes Nude (they looked like tacky 90's gogo dancers, tbh) and Onna to Otoko no Lullaby Game stick out to me as incredibly awful.

I think the outfits were made to go with the C/W.

If that's the case, I'm really glad with their single track choice.



There is something twisted about the cover. I think Risa is the killer.



Worst Outfit= Obnoxious Yellow shit de ii jan cover.

But I gotta agree with Ambitious (which was an all around bad single), Seishun Correction and Onna ga Medablahblah.



Best was, by far, the dresses from the "Osaka Koi no Uta" PV. <3 I would kill for some promo cards with them in those outfits.

I am also not a fan of Iroppoi Jirettai. That single brought Latin heat but the cover brought Koharu more late 80's Kmart fashion than Miami Vice's Don Johnson.

Actually, more like, Miki received Country Musume as backup dancers and chorus. +Konno who was just kind of hanging out. Miki is obviously the guy with the sunglasses & Konno is the one who is cut out of the picture. (This is becoming very "Onegai Miwaku no Target" cd cover)

Go Girl Koi no Victory outfits were pretty hideous... I thought the gray looked awful on the girls. Reminded me of old ugly gas station attendant uniforms.
