I wholehartedly agree. When I listen to the concert rips, it's hard for me to tell Riho and Reina apart sometimes. And that's pretty incredible, given that Riho is 13 years old with limited singing experience. And when you see her on stage, she's a born performer. There's no question about that.



Mizuki has a nicer sounding voice than Riho, but lacks the passion and charisma of a class-A performer. I do find her enormously likable, however.

They'd both probably get less flak if they made up for their flaws by being at least interesting. They're complete bores without Zukki and Eripon. A lot of their offstage enthusiasm seems forced.

P.S. Riho is clearly the 2nd ace of MM, she could improve her singing a bit sure, but that will come.



Maki needed to improve her dancing when she first joined, you don't need to be perfect to be an ace just the potential to be perfect.

Kamei was definitely exceeding Reina within the past few years in vocals and dance. They were pretty even to start off with though. Mizuki is the best singer of 9th gen, even though her personality isn't the most liked...



I think it'll depend on what you mean by talent. All around talent? Just singing or dancing? I think all the generations will have a controversy of who is the "ace" including 5th generation.

Kamei grew into being an ace, which means 9th and 10th haven't gotten theirs yet considering they are still in the learning stages. It took a few years for Eri to come out of her turtle shell and make a name for herself. I like to think it was when she finally cut her hair that I even started to notice there was another 6th gen member besides Reina and Sayumi.

I don't think Riho has an amazing voice or is a "born singer" like Airi or Maki, but I think she's doing the best she can with what she's got, and right now she's more consistent than Mizuki or Kanon. Yeah, she shouts, but everybody shouts sometimes. Even Ai did her fair share of shouting. But I do think that either the way she is singing or the amount that she's singing is doing harm to her voice. I've listened to her micrips from various songs, and she sounds like she's losing her voice. It's disturbing.

Yeah, I'm kind of worried that Riho is being overused. Imagine if she damages her vocal chords or something, and has to take an extended leave. And she's already been injured once before.



Based on my listen of the Ultra Smart concert, I think all the girls have vocal potential with the exception of Eripon and Haruna. So hopefully the lines will be more equitably distributed in future performances.

Riho's problem isn't that she shouts. She just sounds bad. She even sounds bad on studio versions. There's a few 12 Smart songs where sounds absolutely horrid. OK YEAH is a good example. There've been plenty of shouters that never bothered me. Risako's a good example of a shouter that never really bothered anyone when she was young. Riho's charisma can't overshadow that voice. There might be some amount of potential in there somewhere, but UFA's already doing a good job of ruining it. It's like Reina, only worse. People just got super excited when they saw Riho could dance, and they really wanted her to be able to sing as well and it's just not happening.

Honestly, I think Riho is the only other ace besides Maki just because she DOES have such a high level of outperforming the other girls right from the start. Ai grew to be amazing, but she never had the star feel to me. She could succeed no matter where she goes just because she's a really ridiculously hard worker; but other than her voice, she never felt like she had born talent to me.



Admittedly, Maki was really awkward for maybe the first few months, but I think her ace-dom came from getting past that phase and shooting to outperforming everyone else really, really quickly after that. Innate talent to become a star manifests itself pretty quickly IMO.

No, I believe Ai only got one concert as Budokan, and the tour was shorter. So Risa is getting a full tour plus the broadcast. I assume it's because it means the end of fifth gen however.
