Those are some pretty impressive sales.



It probably helped that there were three major events planned the first week (one at a huge shopping complex, and two consecutive ones at Tower Records), and two signed poster raffles.



Hope the single has a strong second week, and we can get around 45K in sales.

yesterday it was ranked at 2nd place selling 1,908 copies.

today due to the many new releases it got ranked at 16 which is pretty good for a second week for morning musume...



the sells are over 43,000 already.

Excuse my possible ignorance, but has Morning Musume / H!P / UFA stopped trying to push for a larger fan base because the one they currently have is enough to keep them afloat? They obviously have their long history and dedicated fans on their side, but I honestly have never seen them do much in way of trying short of the appearance of new generations. At least until now, that is.



I just want to see a more popular Morning Musume (like I'm sure most of you do). I think a lot of these new girls have a ton of real star potential and it'd be a shame for it to somewhat to go waste by not being noticed by the casual consumer.

They've tried the massive pushes and they got nothing out of them, not to mention they're probably holding off to do something big for the 50th single. As you said, MM's fanbase just isn't going to grow no matter what they try, so they're better off putting their efforts into the new C-ute push and more with S/mileage.

I'm guessing Momusu will get a big media push in the near future.



9th and 10th gen essentially represent a rebooting of the whole brand/franchise, and they need a huge push to stay relevant.



I'm pretty optimstic about their chances. 9th gen finally looks comfortable on television, and 10th gen (Haruka and Haruna especially) seems tailor made for talk shows. And they'll have Sayu and Reina backing them up, at least for another year.



Looks like UFA is actually promoting again, and the initial results (for Renai Hunter and C-ute) look surprisingly good.

Now I watched the MV and the first thing I noticed... why is there still no higher resolution than 480p available ? =/

I doubt they're still filming on analog film and thus it'd take them some time to convert.



Song is still uninteresting and generic to me and the video itself doesn't seem that spectacular either.

But the dance takes the cake, it's just shit.

I don't get it. Why is there even a discussion as to who will be the next leader? Sayumi has the most seniority and is the oldest remaining member of her generation. Why wasn't she sub-leader, last time? Why don't they come out and officially declare her the next leader? Are they looking for a loophole to avoid this?



I myself wouldn't mind terribly if SayuReina did a co-leadership, but Reina becoming the next leader simply because she is a frontgirl is a flat-out no.

And because she'd be a better leader in general. I was thinking about this while watching Risa's graduation memorial DVD. Risa talks about having been the bad guy for years, but recently she'd backed away from that and let Aika take on that role. That allowed her to really be the supportive type that all of the girls felt like they could go to with their problems. Haruka talks about Risa being the one to bridge the gap between the younger and older girls, and a lot of the 9th and 10th gen mention how she's always there asking if they need help. That's the kind of role I think Sayu would be much better suited for. She probably could use a little more confidence and maturity, but I think she could grow into that. She already does a good job of interacting with all of the members and really promoting the group through her blog.



Reina on the other hand is a lot more withdrawn and I can't see any of the girls wanting to come to her for advice. She apparently hardly even talked with Risa until the Reborn play. I think she'd be better in a sub-leader position, taking the bad cop role from Aika.



It is worrisome that they're making it seem so up in the air. Sayu doesn't deserve the shaft. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /noway.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':noway:' />

The only, ONLY reason they should give Reina the leader position is that she's going to graduate within a year whereas Sayu is in it for at least another 3 or 4.
