Questions for Berryz Kobo next week: any suggestions?
I’m about 90% sure I’m getting an interview with Berryz at AnimeNext next week. I have questions designed for five of the girls, although I would welcome any suggestions as to what to ask. I have no idea what to ask Chinami and Maasa.
One problem is that I’ve been out of the loop on all their extracurricular activities, e.g. the acting in films and TV shows and TV appearances and their blogging and such. Are any of them particularly prominent in one way or another outside of Berryz? Have any of them shown any particular talent in acting? I know Momoko does a lot of “funny” stuff and I have seen her Tom Cruise clip, but I haven’t figured out how to turn that into a question. Any clips I should seek out before next week?
I want to ask Miyabi and Risako about their singing and what kind of work they’ve put into it, since I think they’re so much more distinctive than the other girls, but it’s hard to phrase it without making it sound like they’re so different or so much more competent at it. The usual response at these things is to deny being anything special.
I’m curious to ask what the future of Berryz is and where they all see themselves post-Berryz, but I’ve learned enough to know that they simply won’t be forthcoming at all on that topic. Is there a clever way to get them to talk about that?
And what would you guys like to ask if you had the chance?
Thanks.

Maasa was recently on a drama called Hancho.. I think she played a schoolgirl who witnessed a crime. I don't think Chinami has done anything recently to really ask about but someone else might know.
There's really not much to ask about. They've been far less busy than everyone else has.

More than anyone else, Chinami is known as the comedic one. She has segments of their concerts set aside for her to tell jokes and she's always doing a bunch of gag type stuff, from what I remember of the little extracurricular stuff of theirs that I've seen in the last few years.
Ask Maasa about why she keeps getting skinny and then fat again XD

Madara, remember this is their 10th anniversary and Berryz are basically the sempai of Hello!Project now. Sayumi and Reina may be older, but the H!P kids have been there longer. This may provide some sort of questions for you to ask. How they feel about being in hello!project for so long, stuff like that.
Maasa has started to more acting recently. I thought she was amazing in the H!P drama recently, will she be doing more? I also wonder, as a girl with a not so idol figure does she feel any pressure to be thin?
Momoko, I wonder when going onto television shows, is what she does mainly scripted or does she just make it up as she goes along? You really should check the Spam thread. Momoko's been on so much stuff it's hard to name something.
Also, she mentioned she wanted to be a teacher (elementry or preschool I forget?) Does she still see herself doing that or continuing in television as a personality?
General question, Did they ever think they would still be in helloproject after 10 years? What do they see themselves doing in the future now that they are all becoming adults and do they have more responsibility?
Miyabi has a cousin in AKB48, Fujie Reina of Team K. You could mention something about it, or not. She's also recently finished acting in a play, B・B~bumpy buddy~.
Mention Buono? Ask them if they enjoy working with C-ute and if they would like to do more collaborations in the future? (Concerts/Songs) They have their single Chou Happy Song coming out on the 20th.
Yurina and Chinami, not sure. Yurina is tall, so I wonder if she ever considered going into modeling? And Chinami always seems to be perceived as being lazy so I wonder how she gets anything done.
Saki, ask her if she's the new leader of H!P now that Risa is gone. xD
If you want more help, check out blog!project or takamaruyo's Radio Fridays for any Berryz related mentionings.

As far as I know, Momoko is still in college. I'd be curious to know how she balances work with school, if she's the only one in H!P who went to college and stayed in H!P at the same time, what she wants to get out of her education, and if it's a choice she made herself or if her parents pressured her into it. Also if she wears her stupid pigtails to class <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Re: Questions for Berryz Kobo next week: any suggestions?
I remember that when Berryz were in Seattle last time, Chinami was studying English -- maybe you could give her some encouragement on that or ask her if she's still studying it?
HOLD UP! I'M A GEEK THE BIG PARADOX!

I went a searching and found an old interview/article from when Berryz went to Seattle. And the Q&A from Sakuracon.

Ask Chinami if she wants to be my bff for me. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/wub.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
I think what Val said about her studying English is a great suggestion.

You know, it'd be cool to improvise some questions on the fly, depending on what they say or the mood they're in. If only you had a brilliant, charming, Japanese speaking person to help you conduct the interview. *hinthint*

There's usually a strict time limit on these things. I'll probably be able to ask only one question per girl and that's it.

I'm thinking of asking Momoko, "What do you want to be when you grow up?"
Sort of as a joke, but also curious about what she actually wants to do in the future.
Is there a way to phrase that in Japanese so that it means exactly what it means in English, complete with the implication that she still hasn't grown up? But in a funny way, not an insulting way.
Thanks.

We already know what she wants to do. She's in university studying to become a pre-school/kindergarten teacher.

Otona ni natara, nani naritai desu ka?
"When you become an adult, what do you want to be?"
I think that might have the desired effect?
