I gotta admit, Type B is actually a good effort, but their faces are all so indistinct the concept doesn't quite work so well. It looks almost exactly like Idoling!!!'s newest single, but their faces are far more distinct, so it worked really well, even though they have twice as many members. MM's kinda looks like they took 9 pictures of the same girl from different angles then threw these other 2 weirdos at the bottom. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nceman.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':danceman:' />

That style of cover with solo shots in frames is somewhat common with them, they've had a number of releases with that style of cover with somewhat mixed results, but I think One Up! is probably my favorite and the one that reminds me of this MM cover the most, because of the soft filter and simple design with a consistent look throughout the pictures.

These covers are pretty bad photoshop efforts. The only decent one is Limited B. I can't believe they thought Limited C was a good idea.

Hopefully, the crappiness of the covers means we'll get a great PV. Because everything in H!P balances out, right?

Limited B. Tsunku gets to control the cover concept, so naturally his brilliant idea is to strip the girls down, even though the fans can only see shoulder up at most. He wouldn't stop at The Possible.

Limited F really makes me think of the Souda! We're Alive PV.

Limted C & Regular B are the biggest disasters. I'll give Tsunku credit for not messing up the hair on anyone due to lack of concern with tracing around the space properly.

Limited A - Looks like your standard Limited H!P cover.

Limited B - LOVE IT!!!!

Limited C - Tsunku tried. He gets an A for effort but, it looks SO Photoshopped and weird.

Limited D - It's ok. There's flaws with the white glow but, other than that, it's cute.

Limited E - I like it. It's less photoshoppy than C. Is Haruna's Hat disappearing into Mizuki even though she's layered front of her?

Limited F - Cute. He could've done something better than the light effect on top.

Regular A - Ladies and Gentlemen: This cover signifies how Morning Musume will be in the future.

Regular B - I love this one as well.

I just realized that the shuffles for the b-sides of the different editions are in the front.

This is one of those weird cases where I think everyone looks great on every cover...and yet I don't like any of them. And those skyscrapers in the background make me think they were supposed to be used for The Matenrou Show but they couldn't figure out how to incorporate them.

I'm still trying to decide if I like the covers or not...the costumes do kind of make things strange. I do like the Riho/Sakura cover though, but I'm still kind of just trying to decide if the other covers are good. lol

I actually kind of like the covers. If Haruna was better placed, then limited C would just kind of have a 3,2,1 BREAKIN' OUT! feel, rather than awkwardness. I really like what I can see of Ayumi's B-side outfit, and for the most part they're all pretty good.

It took me awhile to realize Sakura and Riho weren't standing in their cover.. Other then that I'm hoping these outfits are used in the PV! Because they aren't horrid like some are and they somehow all go together.

I actually think Limited A and B look nice enough. B is simple but for once no one looks derpy. Everyone looks nice, and as far as the photoshop goes there's no terrible glaring errors like missing arms. I don't mind the colors... I think the yellow/blue/green makes the girls themselves pop a little more. Like Pumo said, the outfits clash with themselves so there's only so much you can do.

I think it is also often more of a mental barrier of not wanting to even try to tell someone apart. This is true of myself sometimes, as well, when I purposely don't want to try to be able to tell certain idols apart from each other, but if I actually look at it and concentrate, I can see a difference, even when it comes to AKB or Kpop idols who seem to thrive on looking largely the same and being manufactured to almost military standards, even if I look closely at them, I can usually tell a difference with rare exceptions.

This MM cover, though, you have to have been staring at pictures of these girls and watching videos of them for a solid year to be able to actually tell them apart (aside from Reina and Bitchface, of course,) and I actually even tried. That is one of the worst cases I've seen in all of Jpop or idols of girls in a group looking exactly the same in a photo shoot. I'm not saying they look the same, period, since I can tell them apart in lots of other photos or videos, but the ones they used for that cover are just ridiculously similar. But again, if you don't even have the mental drive to try then yes, most idols will look the same.

It actually just reminds me of an experience the other day when I went to buy some magazines at the Japanese bookstore by my house and I bought a few magazines with different groups on the cover (MM being one of them, because it was on clearance) and for every one of the magazines, the lady who rang me out (who I talk to on occasion) kept saying "all these girls just look the same, how do you tell them apart?" In response to the MM one, I said I really can't, but for the others, if you actually try and have some source material to use, it comes pretty easily.

I think the biggest fault any of these covers commit is not resembling the type of song HELP ME!! is in any way. Nothing says heavy electro beats quite like a brick wall or skyline clipart.

Yeah, like I said, if you actually mentally commit yourself to knowing who they are and are constantly seeing images of them, you can tell anyone apart even in shitty pictures like the MM cover, but if you don't try, everything looks pretty similar. Previous viewing is always going to make it more instantly identifiable, but some things are just generally, aesthetically different enough that you don't have to look nearly as hard.
