Poor Karin. It must have been frustrating to fail so many auditions. I wish she wouldn't beat herself up for that, though. It's not like she didn't do really well during the auditions. But I guess that's natural. I'm glad she's finally getting the chance to debut. She definitely deserves it.

I wonder what direction this group will take. Looking at the people that they chose, I wonder if it's going to be more focused on vocals. That would be nice.

Shouldn't this video and stuff be in the eggs-are-hatching-thread?

Now that I can see it too, they're all really adorable. I like Tomoko the most from the little interview things. Now the wait for their debut. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... deways.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':sideways:' />

Al lot of these girls are older, so I'm hoping they'll be going for a mature group sound.

Also I moved this stuff to the right thread, since we have one for the debut of this K!Egg group.

So many sniffles! And so many of them managed to remain cute while crying.

I second the mature sound! As long as some B-sides sound like old S/mileage. I think that'd be fun. Of course, if they do cutesy stuff, I'll probably like it, too. Tsunku magic.

Since Karin has the seniority, is she going to be the leader? <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... stling.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' />

I feel like they might make Yuka the leader because of age.

If not Yuka then Sayuki (Kanatomo is too new).

Yuka as leader doesn't feel right since she's still the newbie of the group.

Leave us to our hopeful delusions! I would take older S/mileage style stuff, too. Honestly, I'll probably feel the same about Tsunku's songs for this group as I do for the others.

Maybe they can have some sort of random contest to determine leader because of the age/seniority in the agency weirdness.

I think seniority in the agency carries a lot of weight. Personally, I wouldn't want Karin to be the leader. She is my designated ace/centre. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... joyful.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':joyful:' /> Sayuki can be the leader.

The leader can't be the ace...

Let me think...

Yuko wasn't

Kaori wasn't

Mari wasn't

Yoshizawa wasn't

Miki.... aha she was leader and ace for a short time?

Ai was both

Risa wasn't

Sayumi isn't

Saki isn't

Maimi isn't

Ayaka isn't

hmmm you have a point! It seems like the ace usually isn't the leader!

They probably wont announce the leader till after the major debut though, isn't that how S/uma did it?

In most cases it's real easy to say who the leader is as it's the eldest member. but this time because the older members are relatively new to H!P it's a little difficult.

I think they'll go with whoever is oldest.

In the case of C-ute, Maimi was leader, even though Erika was older. I think in this case, it will always be true. Whoever is the most mature and shows leadership qualities, should be leader.

Usually I will agree that the oldest will be the leader. But in this case, the oldest (iirc, Yuka) is not even an Egg. Hell, she is practically a stranger.

Erika passed the responsibility to Maimi, I thought. I remember there was an interview that said why she wasn't the leader.

Erika was offered the position of leader first, but she didn't want it, so they gave it to the next in line, Maimi.

Well, the leaders don't really do a whole lot, so it's not as if it REALLY matters.

Do the western fans make a bigger deal of leaders than Japanese ones?

To be pedantic, leader is supposed to lead the group, communicate the goals and objective of the company to the group, keep the group in line and all that jazz. So, it is a big matter.

Or if you are Nakazawa, reign like a queen <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... stling.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' /> .

Yeah, but, a few of them have said that there's really nothing expected of them and that it's nothing more than a title. Also, I'm pretty sure the company communicates the goals and objective of the group to the members, and not the other way around. Idols are puppets.

I think for groups like Berryz and C-ute where the girls all started at the same time, a leader is more of a title, but for MM it's more important since new girls are constantly coming in.

Even if leader doesn't have important things to do, they do get loads of screentime in tv shows, etc. They are essentially the group mouthpiece. I would want them to at least be competent in this regard (ie: can carry a conversation, interesting and funny).

Apparently Tsunku tweeted that he'll announce the name of the group at about 10 PM. I'm expecting something both silly and difficult to pronounce.
