I was watching Kimi Sae Ireba nani mo Iranai again and for some reason I feel like Sakura is going to be the next Ai-chan. Just the way she moves and the voice and stuff. It's just this video though so maybe not.

I get that impression from Brainstorming, so nope she's just diva like that. Someone(s) said she's channeling her inner Gaki or something, but girlfriend screams Ai at me.

Sakura has a few of Takahashi's mannerisms that she didn't develop until later in her Musume career. (I noticed it during the live of Brainstorming) She's going to be used in the same capacity as both Takahashi and Risa, at least for now.

I was not looking forward to Tokimeku Tokimeke (for obvious reasons), but I actually might love it, ha ha. Except for that hideous solo line towards the end. Not sure who that was, but ouch.



Rock no Teigi sounds like Watashi no Jidai during one part, but I like it a lot, too.

The "Watashi no Jidai" sound is very prominent in parts of "Rock no Teigi".

I like it, but I probably won't listen to it anymore until there's a high quality recording, or when the single releases.

I like these a lot better than the other songs so far. Tokimeku Tokimeke sounds kind of para-para, and despite Mizuki being the only member that is pleasant to listen to, it works really well. Whoever that last solo is by (Haruna?) sounded just bad though <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol:' /> Rock no Teigi reminded me of something from Utena in the verses. Not so much once it hits the bridge, though, but I really like the chorus. Looking forward to hear the recordings of these.

After a few more listens to "Kimi Sae Ireba nani mo Iranai" I've decided that I really like the first half of the verses a lot. The vocodered parts are especially interesting, and the only part I find offensively pedestrian is the eight bars leading into the chorus. Hell, I don't even mind the chorus that much anymore.



So yeah, repeated listening = I really like this song overall. This is a really bold arrangement, and it's ballsy for an established and resurgent girl group to be testing a fusion of honest club-techno and idol pop (as opposed to simply dropping tried-and-true techno sounds into tried-and-true pop arrangements.) If they continue in this vein it'll be the most exciting development in the history of Morning Musume since the Golden Age.

Rock no Teigi has an embarrassingly awful arrangement, very much like most of their recent music. Its hard to listen to those grating synths. The progressions and melodies are as boring and typical as you can get for Tsunku electro-crap.



Tokimeku Tokimeke was amazing until they started singing the verse, then the bridge was really good, then the chorus was a huge anti-climatic letdown, then the interlude was great. It just kept going up and down. Still probably the best song they've released in a year, though, even if its only half decent <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nceman.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':danceman:' /> If the vocals on the studio recording aren't as irritating as they are on that fan recording, this may actually be listenable.

ANyway I can't stand Reina's voice so I can't stand "Rock no Teigi". "Tokimeku Tokimeke" was pretty good besides that unfortunate solo that was mentioned (and I love Ayumi but...). "Itsumo to Onnaji Seifuku" reminds me of like 90s anime theme song or something?



I don't love any of these enough to buy this single though.

Rock no Teigi is pretty cool! The arrangement sounds simple enough, but catchy. Tokimeku is cool too, but the chorus is a lot better than the verses. Hell, I'd probably say both are better than Kimi sae and Brainstorming if we had better rips.

This is what I think about this single:

• I love Brainstorming, both the song and the dance.
• I think the other A-side is crap. The singing, the arrangement, the auto-tune. IT'S ALL HORRIBLE. Thank goodness the dance is interesting.
• I don't care about b-sides because they don't give me PVs to watch and analyze.

I won't buy it since I don't purchase much Jpop anymore, but I hope they do well in sales. They really DO deserve to sell, they're talented and amazing girls. Except for Reina.
