Brainstorming + Kimi Sae Ireba nani mo Iranai - Morning Musume's Swan Song to Reina

The outfit material looks horrible up close, in addition to the poor fit. I think the PV did a good job of hiding this, I hope the covers do the same.



In theory, because the covers require working with photos of 11 girls, I think they are more likely to hire cheaper and less qualified people to make MM's designs.



It's probably easier to pay for the time it takes to make a series of high quality covers for the 5 girls of C-ute, than to hire the same quality designer for an 11 member group, so we won't see nice covers for MM as often, unless they try something different that is still cost effective.



Unfortunately, if MM is given a cheap designer who can quickly make destroy the main covers, even the alternate covers that reflect the B-side groupings can suffer from the limited skill level of whoever is hired.



There's always something wrong, but I guess that it's a good sign that the covers didn't get revealed super early, maybe they weren't too rushed and the mistakes will be minimal. Thank goodness for the "girls inside individual rectangles" strategy of covers B & C.

I like C, the picture of Mizuki especially is creative. E is also pretty good, Kanon looks like a doll. Haruka's hat is amazing. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /lmfao.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lmfao:' /> D isn't that bad, if only Haruna wasn't making an awkward face... I think all the girls have gotten better, actually. For the most part the only problems are from the photographer apparently sucking.

Reg A - Probably the best one? The best use of the studs background, and I guess they tried to get creative by having the girls looking off in different directions. I thought a Photoshop disaster had happened to Eripon's head but I think she just has a really stupid hat.



Reg B - Weak. Just zero effort at all. I was going to say at least everyone looks good, but Mizuki has a "kill me now" look going on.



Lim A - Ok noooow I can say at least everyone looks good. But ugh that border, whyyyyy?



Lim B - Old hat in terms of design, but there's nothing terrible happening.



Lim C - HOT MESS. The individual shots are all great, but what the hell is going on here.



Lim D - This is basically all about Sayumi featuring her background crew xD



Lim E - Not bad! I mean... I'm sad they reused the Brainstorming shoes and are going for the serious face thing when it's not that type of song, but it's decent. I love Haruka's hat.

Hooray for profile pictures and covers. I've been waiting for these.

I like how Haruna doesn't look like an elf in any of these. (Maybe its just me, but she always looks like an elf in my mind.) And Ayumi has finally gotten rid of that "I'm crazy/I'm going to kill you" look.

Limited D is probably my favorite. I'm really not too fond of the color pink, but I like it here for some reason. Also, Limited D was just the first one that I noticed.

Red B- I'd say, at least they aren't all photoshopped in together, but if you see the larger version of this cover, they look photoshopped in together. Either that or the lens flare is messing with me.



Limited A - I'm going to call this the studs and look at my pits cover.





Limited B - I don't understand what is going on with the colored background. I REALLY want to know the thought process behind this one. REALLY I DO! I just don't understand. Also I made a cover like this once in college for a CD Album design. I still have it. xD



Limited C - First off, Three outfits for a single? UF went all out boys and girls! This looks like a failed attempt at a Musume inspired Tetris. Even the studs are trying to escape, which brings us too~



Limited D - What? NO STUDS!? You LIE! I don't know guys, I think this is my favorite cover. But then again, I'm partial to Pink. <3

If Reg B and Limited B weren't in the way of the order single, I would see this as an series, the Studs trying to escape the covers and a metaphor for Reina. They are there, but faded in the background, Reina is front and center. Then they pop out at you and Reina is still center but she's shrunk in size and then finally the studs escape and Reina shoved off to the side, the new generation taking over and we are left with the last two single covers that have no Reina and our future Musume.

Sexy Boy had the alternate cover with those stupid circles on a white background, I almost forgot. Ah, the days where they would have one decent cover and then screw up the other.



Also, when I look at the gold and silver tetris blocks that are randomly placed on Lim.C, I suspect that they serve no purpose other than to hide ugly edges between the photos. They aren't exactly positioned like they were a thought out decision. They're more like sparkly band-aids.



On Lim.D, it's almost like they made Mizuki reenact the Kanashimi Twilight PV.

Regular B - I kinda like it.

Limited A - It's one of the good ones.

Limited B - How they did the background colors ruined it.

Limited C - I love it!!!!!

Limited D - They didn't do a good job with highlighting the pink over the girls.

Limited E - The sky in the backdrop looks weird. I'm not liking the gradient either.
