I looked at that picture really briefly and went "whoa Aika's in photos with them?" Then I looked closer and saw it was Haruka. I never thought that hairstyle looked good on Aika, and it's not very good on Haruka either :/
If he in some way combines the two PVs, that would be pretty sweet to pull off. But just because I said that, it ain't gonna happen.
I think if they had done something like have 1 colour of the outfits for one PV and one colour for the other (like red for one and blue for another) it would be easy to tie them together somehow. They had something kind of like that for OTT/TMS, except it was the same outfits and TMS never really got a proper PV...

I really think they all look very good in that photo, except for Sakura and Erina. Both of them have soccer-mom hair and Erina seems to have stollen Ayumi's bat shit crazy eyes.

Look UF, so it is possible to upload 1080 videos if you want. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/clap.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Good marketing move, though it's making PH a little redundant. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hahaha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hahaha:' />

It wasn't too jarring, though I can't speak of accuracy. But you know that 90% of Western audiences won't care or notice the difference anyway.

You guys are good for color coding, that's crucial, especially on album tracks and B-sides. Don't lose heart!

How does the video have 301 views but 1,934 thumbs up? <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nfused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I get it now, they were working up to this moment, that's why it has parts of the other singles. They want this video to go viral.

Hopefully it means more trips to the USA and Europe in the near future.

Don't forget romanizing!

I think for some reason H!P videos stay on 301 views for a couple of hours, even though far more people have viewed it. So I don't know if it's a glitch with youtube or what.

This happens to pretty much every youtube video. The view count will stop showing views past 301 for a couple of days so they can verify that they are legit views.

Just read Tsunku's tweet from jplop courtesy of Sohee.

Lol, Tsunku finally admit why they didn't want to upload in 1080. It's cause they want you to buy it.

But how does that even make sense? They don't release them on blu-ray, so you can't buy a 1080 version anyway until the eventual collection comes out.

It's pretty easy to put a 1080p video file on a DVD.

A file, yes, but as a video-disc, the bandwidth for decent HD playback is not there. There have been jpop releases with BDs, but not a lot. Wouldn't put it past UFA to sell yet another version with BD.

The video is really not that long. With a x264 compression, it'd be easily possible to put it somewhere inbetween the DVD stuff.

And what else would be on such a DVD ? I never had one in my hand, so I don't know, but I can't imagine there being a lot of material just for a single release.

Even if there'd be a lot of other content, they could in theory make a double layer with 8GB, which would be more than enough.

Video-DVDs and File-DVDs don't work the same. Yes, on file-DVDs, there's beyond plenty of space for HD video files, but those files aren't encoded for playback on DVD players. When the video is encoded, it can be read on consumer DVD players, but the bandwidth for reading encoded video-DVDs tops out below the bandwidth necessary for HD. You'd think that, with modern compression techniques, DVD players could just read x264, but that's not the standard for encoded DVDs. Video-DVDs use MPEG-2, a rather weighty format, but very easy to read. x264 requires a good deal of processing power to decode that most DVD players aren't built with.

Long story short: DVD players are neither fast enough nor smart enough to read anything other than their standard MPEG-2 format for video-DVDs (which are different than file-DVDs).

I am aware of all of that...

That's why I specifically wrote "file", as in a single video file.

You can make a DVD that is playable in a DVD player, but also has files that are only playable on the PC. Which is what I meant with "it'd be easily possible to put it somewhere inbetween the DVD stuff". =P

On the other hand, most BD players are fast and smart enough to read BD-ROM data off of DVD media. You just need to make sure to master it so it does not exceed 4.7GB (for single-layer). Depending on the average bitrate, you can squeeze some 20-30 minutes of HD video on it. And I agree it's about time they finally switched Single Vs or whatever you want to call them to HD. Watching MVs off DVDs is pretty pitiful when you can get HDTV rips even before the official releases come out.

But that takes time and effort. Tsunku's uploading the dang videos himself here! He may even be editing them if he's got HD master files and meant to transcode it down himself.

Sorry. That's really interesting about mini-BD, though. I wonder if, instead of expensive BDs, that more, smaller HD content will be on USB drives. They could have different versions with member-colored thumbdrives. That'll sell units.
