Morning Musume to change their name!

Who wants to bet that analysts determined that groups with numbers in their name sell 31% better than non-numbered groups?
 
Not only the whole thing about it just being stupid, but how is it going to affect things like their consecutive top 10 singles record? If they have a "different" name, does that end the streak?

It will make iTunes annoying though, and it already was pretty annoying with all the Morning Musume and モーニング娘。 I had going on. I solve that by putting a consistent name in the Album Artist section. It's how I keep subgroups grouped with their mother groups too. I was actually kind of hoping they were changing it to Morning Musume (English) because lol gaijin me.
 
I wonder if it will alienate fans though.

I agree with whoever said that this would make sense if every year they'd change their style and whatnot... but we know they won't so this is stupidity at its finest.
 
Also, he says it will be easier to remember which members where in the group at some points... which can only be achieved if new membersare added (or graduate) right when the group changes its name, cause then it will be like "Riho was part of Morning Musume 14, 15 and half of 16"... stupidity, I say.

It's mostly dumb because the reason behind it is stupid. It's so it's easy to know when singles were released? That's what the Internet is for. Do they think this is 20 years ago?

Someone on H!O pointed out that the 'it might become confusing and you might give up lol' line was translated incorrectly, what it's actually trying to say is, apparently if fans don't like the name or are confused by it it can be changed back? So it's hopeful to know that if the majority of people aren't into it it'll just go back to how it was.
 
2ch isn't thrilled with the name either. I know I'd rather listen to the new single from Morning Partial Double Eyelids Musume, how about you guys?

So through hard work, inspired song writing and a bit of proper promotion, they manage to resurrect the diseased, rotting carcass of Morning Musume, turn it into a viable idol-force to be reckoned with, and their next step is to change the fucking name? Who is the high-functioning retard that came up with this idea? This is something you do to a group that is in decline -- like, say, Morning Musume circa 2009 -- not one on the up-swing. This will end poorly. This is so toxically bad it has the potential to actually kill the group in a way that even boring songs and boring girls couldn't.

The Spring concert is called Morning Musume. '14 Concert tour Haru ~Evolution~.
 
I get why it's ~Evolution~ but then what will they use for Morning Musume. '15's concert? 
 
I know a lot of people thought that just the music releases would get the '14 and maybe everything else would stay the same, but I think they're probably still going to insist on using the numbers even for media appearances and stuff.

A long dialogue that's stupid, but these types of conversations will still happen-- even if you put the year after the group's name!!
