ODATOMO should be the best thing ever, if they get a good song. They better get a good song. lol Masaki is in another unit. I didn't like Jurin because the gap in ability between the two girls was distracting, but this unit should be okay for me because the other two are closer to her level (especially Rina; Akari's a little less stable). Haruka must be happy to be in a unit with Sayuki and Chisato, since she's close with Sayuki and admires Chisato. It's the raspy voice group, lol.    
 
I wish Meimi could've gotten into a unit. :(

If they're doing new Satoyama units, will they be doing new Satoumi ones in the future as well? If only because I finally want to see Zukki, Meimei or Maasa in one of these shuffles ...

I'm completely excited for all the units! Like Kalle, I also hope to see at least Zukki in a unit with maybe.... Meimi AND Maasa. I think their voices could work together. I'm definitely most excited for Triplet, what with Chissa, Kuduu AND Sayuki.
 
But as Banana said, Satonoakari should do better (Masaki's probably there just to make a pun with "Sato" if anything :P) since they're all pretty close in voice type and ability.

There's an interview with the members of the new units on the Satoyama website.

Reading the interviews, here's a few notes about the songs from some of the members:
 
Satonoakari's song, according to Masaki, is an up-tempo number that has some parts that go really slow, and she thinks that's fun. Rina says she thinks the song's message is to "treasure the present." Akari mostly talks about her senpai (Rina is kind, while Masaki is just natural and yet somewhat mysterious).
 
Triplet's song has a rock feel that should pump up a concert and the lyrics are about a girl that while crushing many varied and hard obstacles, she faces her dreams and does her best.
 
ODATOMO's song is a gentle ballad with a theme of starting a journey in spring. Tomoko says when she listened to the finished vocals, she was surprised at how her voice mysteriously sounds a bit different than normal.

The arranger of Triplet's song (Onishi Katsumi) worked on all of Maki's Avex albums.

 

TSUNODA takanori, who is credited for everything with the SatoNoAkari song, worked on a bunch of Hangry & Angry's releases too.

Interesting, he played at Otakon one year...

 

 

Is there anything clever to the name Triplet other than the fact that there are 3 members?

The Kanji in Rina's name for "Ri" is the same as the "Sato" in "Satoyama", but that's all I got.
