MM'15's Christmas Event has also gone up, here's disc 1--9ki being in charge has really helped them up their talking skills, but mainly for Kanon and Sayashi, it seems. (Though Sayashi always had some good talking/goofing off.) After watching this and DVD magazine 80, I'm sad to see Kanon go for her MC skill; and DVD mag 80 really could've used some Sayashi shenanigans. Maria is picking up these skills pretty well already but the rest of 12ki has some way to go on it. Behind Maria's MC I'd say Akane's is best. (Not counting 10th gen)
 
They really let Kanon take charge of the talking in this Christmas event (including disc 2) as well as in the DVD mag.

Also I'm surprised Kobushi got a new song... Album? I'd laugh so hard if they got an album before 12ki MM and CG. The song is aiight, I don't have many feelings towards it.

I also thought that at least Erina would get one before Sakura since she seems to be the next in popularity (Mizuki -> Haruka -> Ayumi -> Erina..?), but well. I just really want my Haruna photobook before she graduates. Ever since Riho announced her graduation I've been anxious that she's going to be next, and the only thing I really want before that happens is a photobook.
 
However, watch Maria being the next one to get one.

Just posting to say how funny I think it is that when MM'16 posted their new year goals, Harunan mentioned being on TV. They've been on TV as a group maybe twice? (Not counting Girls Live and J-Melo.) It was for the Idol Dance Club.... Maria got the best gig as far as I know, and was on a baseball show as a main guest for an entire hour.

Honestly, because of her low-key personality and super professional attitude, she's appreciated just as much as she should be. She doesn't have an outstanding character like Tsugi/Kago or Maki. She's a great singer, good dancer and heavily featured--and that's enough for what she has to bring to the group.

I had really high hopes for Sakura because her level was pretty high for a beginner when she joined the group, but she hasn't improved much since, while others made the best out of their time in MM. Like in the beginning many people compared her to Ai, and I personally thought her singing was better than Ai's when she started, but she improved much less than Ai in her first three years. Nowadays she doesn't sound like Ai at all, more like Masaki, and that's not a good development.
 
That being said, she's still the best singer in the group and one of the best dancers. That alone will influence her position in the history of MM.

Sakura, like most girls added to the group since Koharu-ish, has fallen pretty short of my expectations.  It seems like girls in the group just don't really grow like they used to, whether that be in talent or personality.  They're just kinda there.  Sometimes there's some marginal improvement but no real transformations in a long, long time.

Well Sakura doesn't really have any competition. She needs someone on her level who will force her to improve. In fact, I think that is what MM is lacking. They don't have enough naturally talented very driven girls to help steer the group upwards.

Her legacy wouldn't hold up if she debuted in the earlier years but I think she'll always be pretty highly regarded because of the gens she was in the group with.


Anyway, just a little tidbit, Takechan announced she's going to university in the fall! She's going to study calligraphy.

Take-chan did something related to calligraphy at her past birthday events and last year, she showed on her blog some of her calligraphy works (she wanted to do it daily if I recall well but didn't manage to keep up this pace). I'm glad she'll study at university something she really likes !
