[2016.08.06] Tsubaki Factory - Hitorijime/Watashi Ga Obasan ni Natte mo!
Tsubaki Factory's third indies single, this one will be a DVD single. It'll be available on 8/6 at the Nakano Sun Plaza H!P Concert.
Confirmation.
Hitorijime was written for them by Tsunku. Here's a recording of it. It's very Platinum-MM, it has Tsunku written all over it.

And another cover song by Moritaka Chisato.

Honestly, Tsunku... isn't the same like he used to be. Anything he wrote would be 101% great. But now, anything he does is really disappointing. I really liked the songs of their past two singles, but this one no. I literally didn't notice that it went off when I was listening, and only realized 20 minutes later when I saw the tab. It's a snore fest.

Bakusute has four subgroups that released songs yesterday that were all done by Tsunku and I thought they were all great actually. The other non-H!P stuff he's been doing has been great as well.

I wonder what's going wrong with him and H!P, then.

"Summer Wind" is fantastic. "Koi Nara Tokku ni Hajimatteru" is good, if unspectacular. Anyway, Tsunku has gone through slumps in his career before, so this is nothing new -- nor is this his worst slump, IMO. Honestly, I'm impressed every time he writes a great song now, because he's pushing 50 and has written thousands of songs already. His output for the first two years of the EDMusume era was astonishingly good for a guy who could easily have rested on his laurels and still been considered one of the greatest composers in the history of Japanese pop music.

That's subjective. But the rest is a good point!

Sounds like a Platinum Era reject to be honest, but a lot of H!P's music depends heavily on the arrangement.
It's somewhat unfortunate that they give a hard song to bad singers, too. Many parts of the song sounded like the girls were in pain.

After listening to Hitorijime's preview in today's H!S, I like it. Soft and very Platinum MM yes.
But I'll stick to listen to studio version, not live one.

Hitorijime MV
The dance shot feels very reminiscent of Shouganai Yume Oibito. They're all still incredibly awkward, though.

Hitorijime uses a lot of sounds and melodies reminiscent of older H!P songs. Very nostalgic. I like it.

Really? I mean I can see Platinum MM, but I also feel quite a heavy C-ute influence =o

It's got both: the arrangement is very Platinum while the song itself is very C-ute.

Tsubaki factory is slowly growing on me. They have been improving a lot but they are still definitely one of the weaker groups. They don't seem like a complete lost cause now though.

Hitorijime somehow made me think of Nogizaka46. I hear platinum-era Momusu as well, but my first thought was that this could have been a Nogizaka song.
I agree with Anderei though, the dance shot was very reminiscent of Shouganai Yume Oibito.

I didn't pay too much attention to the video because I was busy when I listened to it, but my thoughts were basically "this reminds me of all those c-ute songs I kept buying because they weren't BAD but they weren't GOOD before I just gave up".

Live of Hitorijime from the Tokyo Idol Festival. As well as them performing Jiriri Kiteru.
This is a place where a signature goes. Enjoy some Airi instead.

Those dresses are really cute.
I'm not familiar with their previous lives (have admittedly been skipping them) but their performance of Jiriri Kiteru was weird, like the backing was way too loud or something?

The vocals were low in the mix for both songs.

True... I didn't really notice in Hitorijime because it doesn't seem to have vocal backings - I could hear whoever did the harmonies for Jiriri Kiteru more than I could hear the Tsubaki members.

Live of Obasan. H!P completely tehno'd the instrumental and ruined it in a way that makes me feel dirty.

I really liked their version of 17sai but this one is kinda boring for me.

I kinda like the weird techno-ish intro. I think the guy who produced this also did 17sai. They both sound the same.
