Country Girls allegedly announced an album at the Buono! Budokan yesterday but there's no official source yet.

MM performed Ai no Gundan on Music Station, there was a special episode about dances.

Starts about 2 minutes in, before is just a short talk.

Hmm, I noticed here that they're not in a huge rush to fill Riho's obvious parts in the interlude here and in Oh My Wish (in Houston) - and they keep putting off the Brainstorming dance-off  .
I actually like Mizuki's singing now, since she had such a variety of voices in this performance (Sayu's sultry style, Riho's crowd-getting 'ow's, and her own lines).  Everyone else was also really crisp throughout!

Management has been pushing Maria so damn hard this year that it's kinda hard not to notice. XD

They're also on a time limit here, so that probably wasn't management's decision. You'll notice they skipped a ton of close ups in favor of the overhead camera because they were there to show off the dance rather than the girls.

I could use less of the overhead camera, but I like the fact that, for the most part, we could actually SEE the dances in this number, unlike so many concert performances, where they cut to extreme closeups or extreme long shots just when the dancing starts.

Maria did a solo of "Te wo Nigitte Arukitai", as well, so they performed three songs instead of two.
Miki chose One and Only as it's her signature song, for obvious reasons.

Also, completely speculating on my part but we need a new single and I'm thinking it'll drop in November or December.  November is currently light on schedule and no other concerts have been announced other than Budokan 12/12.

I mean I get it, but I would've much rather hear her sing a new song.... ONE AND ONLY IS SO OVEPRLAYED. They just did it on J-Mello, too.

Who knows. C-ute and Angerme are both also due for new singles and I feel like they might come first. C-ute's last was before MM and they don't have much longer left and Angerme has a new girl. I feel like Tsubaki might get another one sooner than later as well.

I came here because I have to say, Akane's been getting quite a bit of hate on Youtube comments lately. Basically a repeat of Suzuki Kanon incidents...

She was on AraAraArashiko w/ Ayumi and Haruka, and there were various food segments and numerous commenters said stuff like "don't give her any more food," Haga is fat," "She's just at 'that age.'"

I know there's always drama about weight, but I thought with Suzuki just graduating and being shown so much support, along with Riho graduating when she was seemingly stressed at above her normal range would make them more sympathetic to the girls. But naw.

Don't get me wrong, she gets plenty of "Akane-chin's so cute!" but I was surprised at the amount of hate she was getting, too.

It's already gross but it's even grosser when you remember most of those comments (if not all) are coming from grown ass, middle aged men.  Picture what the average wota looks like and then wonder why they think they are in a position to tell a perfectly healthy, beautiful 14 year old girl she needs to stop eating.  These girls dance and have very active lives, can't imagine the same can be said for your average wota who spends his nights fapping away on 2ch.

Yeah, but there's more than 19 comments, here are the negative ones I saw about Akane:

"Haga totally looks like Zukki..."
->"Well the design of her costume looks twice as wide as the others's, too. She's like the successor of Zukki."
->"You can really see how big she is when all 8 of them are standing together."

"...Akane-chan is cute, it's such a shame she's big. But worse than her is 12ki Nonaka who's so greasy..."

"Please spare us another Zukki."

"As usual, her body type is messing around." (assuming they meant Haga's weight and not some funny movement someone was doing.)

"Thank you very much, Up-Front... But don't give Akane-chin any more food."

I finished watching the MM Houston concert and documentary and some questions came up that are general enough to put in this thread and bring up as topics for discussion (they're not 101-type questions).

1) I don't watch a lot of behind-the-scenes footage of the girls or read their blogs/tweets, etc., so in watching the girls interact with each other in the Houston documentary it struck me that these girls really seem to enjoy being with each other and seem to get along. There's a camaraderie I haven't really noticed in past generations of MM. Now, granted, they may just put on a good show for the cameras, but I'm wondering if other fans who are exposed more to their off-stage interactions would agree with me.

2) I wonder if Miki's years in the U.S. affect the way she's regarded by the other girls. I didn't notice anything, but I'm just wondering if anyone's seen any hint of this. BTW, what ages was Miki when she lived in Alabama?

3) When asked in the Q&A about favorite MM memories, Zukki brought up the book she received containing messages from fans all over the world. Did MM-BBS participate in that? I seem to remember a thread about that some years ago. Am I remembering correctly?

Thanks.

She lived in America from 2001 to 2010. Depending on the time of year they returned she would have only been 10 or 11 when moving to Japan. The fact that she's not mixed and has a fully Japanese name probably means she isn't really treated at as outsider in any way. And I wouldn't doubt it if her Japanese is much better than her English. It's likely what she spoke at home with her parents and obviously what she's speaking with the vast majority of people she meets.

Unrelated, Mizuki and Eripon went out to eat with Kanon and she officially now has to pull an Eri and hide her face:

1) Yes, and I'm not sure where you can identify the root cause behind the camaraderie (is it management, the members, the fact that they do concerts and/or handshake events almost every weekend, cultural or internal expectations of being an idol, all or some or none of the above?).  You can definitely see it in their blogs: 12th gen gets hauled out to dinner, Sakura spends time playing with Maachan's siblings, Haruna & Ayumi go hiking with Tsuno Maisa, the songwriter for "Utakata Saturday Night", etc.

Performance-wise, I think they're fast reaching how the group was like in 2008. It's very close knit group, but they're also content with goofing off now and then, as in their latest live house performance of Utakata Saturday Night

2) The number of times she uses the line "I've lived in America for 8 years" is ready-made into a drinking game.    But I don't get the impression that she's been studying at an international school or a really strong bilingual program. The other girls don't really mention it in other appearances; the best I've seen was Haruna saying that each girl carries a bit of their own hometown dialect "but Nonaka Miki here speaks in a totally different language and that just ups the ante", but no one's grilling her on cultural background or her past.  If they do, it's all kept under wraps. I don't follow the other groups' girls' blogs to see how she interacts with other people in H!P.

3) This board lead the effort in creating the now-famous Zukki book.

I remember this. ❤️ I participated through b!p before I realized that there was a whole wonderful forum behind b!p. I still really hope that between the book and the extreme reaction she got at the New York concert that Zukki realized how beloved she is/was in the foreign fan community.

Quoted from Ryu from H!O because I'm a lazy fuck.

The latest UNIDOL survey has Sayashi Riho being voted number 1 in the dancing category. NMB48's Yamamoto Sayaka and Cute's Suzuki Airi come in 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Closing out the top five are Inaba Manaka (formerly of Country Girls) at 4th and Watanabe Miyuki (formerly of NMB48 and AKB48) at 5th.
