Re: Hello!News Network :: 2017 Edition
I just thought that it's pretty bad to get it after nearly 4 years. Chisato and Momoko have been active idols for more than 10 years, Ai too got treatment about a year after her graduation from MM.
Has the technique they're taught gotten so bad or what happened?

Don't forget Ju=Ju has had a stupidly long tour. Their tour had 3 sections, altogether consisting of over 250 concerts in the past year... And, since Sayuki is heavily relied on for the power vocals, she's been used A LOT in each concert. I already felt bad for the girls, especially considering Tomoko was diagnosed with endometriosis--but this just adds on top. They overworked these poor girls, imo. When I saw footage of the Budokan I thought Sayuki might've been sick, but she was probably in pain.

Re: Hello!News Network :: 2017 Edition
It's overuse of vocals and unhealthy singing techniques. And the thing is, even if they teach them healthy techniques, it's harder to implement them than it is to learn about them, especially for girls with no singing experience.

I'm surprised Mai hasn't had any serious problems with her voice. It's sounded strained for a while, but I suppose its only a matter of time.

Totally with you. Stage experience is great and all, but there hasn't been a single Hello!Station footage of J=J for a year where I haven't thought the girls looked tired.

Yep, you can read about it and do exercises all day but actually getting your muscles and vocal cords to do what your brain is telling them to do is a whole 'notha bushel of berries.
They did an insanely long tour with basically no time off, most of their songs require them to sing at either the very bottom or very top part of their range at all times which is basically the same as an athlete over-exerting themselves over and over again. Your voice has to be treated like a muscle - it needs time to heal and you shouldn't be pushing it to the limit every night. I'm not surprised about this at all.
The sad thing is that she's the best singer in the group, has some of the best technique and vocal placement in H!P - imagine what's happening to the vocal cords of some of the less talented girls, especially the ones who get a lot of lines.

I feel that in the past they were far more aware of what the girls were capable of, and the more recent attempts to really push H!P idols as performance idols has led to them pushing girls far past what their limits actually are.

C-ute with Sekai Ichi HAPPY and Mugen Climax on Full Chorus
Re: Hello!News Network :: 2017 Edition
As much as I love Mugen Climax, it's not very well suited for live performance.

I posted all of the full chorus performances in the spam thread if anyone wants to see the rest.

Yeah, the song is a bit too challenging for them on it's own but with the choreography also being somewhat intense, it's obvious that they're not able to sound their best.

Re: Hello!News Network :: 2017 Edition
I really do love the choreo (this is the first time I can remember ever liking anything like this lol), so I don't mind seeing it live too badly, but, yeah, it's not a good live song because of the choreo.

Re: Hello!News Network :: 2017 Edition
The choreo -- and the fact that dance is not C-ute's strong suit -- definitely makes things difficult for the girls on this. I think the main problem is the arrangement: it's intense and kind of overwhelming. It feels smaller, out of place, and frankly a bit neutered in a variety show setting where the music is always lower in the mix. Mugen Climax is a song I can only listen to at volume. It should probably only ever be performed live in front of a packed concert hall.

Re: Hello!News Network :: 2017 Edition
It's funny you say dance isn't C-ute's strong suit because I've always considered them to be the only H!P group that doesn't kind of suck at dancing LOL. I remember they had some dance-off battle in a concert with S/mileage back in the day and the gap between their dancing ability felt really obvious to me. In general, Japanese idol groups aren't very good at dancing though.

Re: Hello!News Network :: 2017 Edition
I'm probably wrong about that, then, because I never really followed C-ute until this year. I just had the impression they were more focused on being a vocal group having not seen much in the way of dance from them.

MM and C-ute have been invited to the second night of FNS Kayousai 2016.
Night 1 - Artists' song showcase, 12/7
Night 2 - Christmas song theme, 12/14
They're probably going to do an idol medley of Christmas music. Since they're not on the main night, it's unlikely they'll be performing any of their own songs.

Maa-chan was on a music quiz show~
Basically she drew the "image" of a song, and the hosts had to guess what song. She then performed it at the end.

Killer performance? Check.
They look like they're having so damn much fun.

Turns out not to be Christmas related at all. C-ute are going to perform Ooki na Ai de Motenashite and MM are going to perform the original version of The Peace with Sashihara Rino in the medley.

Previewsof Moe's and Momona's birthday events...
Angerme really does do an amazing job of developing their members. Moe has certainly grown into the idol character and Momona was much more confident than I expected. She's in good hands in Angerme. Moe's character is almost like an air-headed copycat of sorts... It's entertaining.

I noticed Momona's huge jump in confidence, too. She just holds herself so much more stably and confident. I finally feel like she may have something to offer now.
It feels so rare now to see a group actually improve their members just by virtue of being added in.

Masaki will be out for awhile with a herniated disc in her lower back. No idea what they'll be doing besides letting her rest. Depends on the severity of the lower back pain.

Poor girl was probably in a decent amount of pain... Wonder if she has naturally weak back disks, as this shouldn't necessarily happen to such a young girl. She's not lifting heavy objects or doing hard labor, though she's very active.
Unfortunately I see a possible graduation without concert happening for her. I think it'll take at least 6 weeks to get better, and I don't know how much dancing she'll be able to shortly after even that. So...
I really hope not, I love Maa-chan...
