We got a LOT of announcements today!

First of all, the new MM members, 17th gen (damn we're already that far?):



Second, Anju also gets two new members: KSS members Goto Hana (14) and Shimoitani Yukiho (16).



While Anju has done away with the "new member coming for graduating member" thing I can't help but fear that means more graduations to come. But Wakana is now not the youngest anymore!

Next, even Juice gets a member! The girl that would have been Mizuki's pick for MM, Kawashima Mifu (15)! Mifu won the best performance award at the latest KSS recital.



The new KSS unit will debut next year! Not only that, but Yoshida Hinoha (15) and Kamimura Rena (13) will join them, bringing the group to 7 members. That means only the newest 3 KSS (who joined in March) are not set to debut yet. Exciting times for KSS fans.

And lastly: New H!P auditions to take place later this year! I'm sure this is to fill up the KSS again, though.

Wild. Seems like every time I don't check the bbs or H!P Twitter before work, something happens, lol. I imagine we'll get audition clips of Ako and Haruka on tomorrow's Hello Station, but until then, we have this:



MM adding 48-group audition wash-outs is a little mind-blowing, but her voice is nice. Hopefully her rhythm has improved, though.

Oh wow, that rhythm was painful. Another girl that probably would not have been chosen by Tsunku. But her voice sounds nice (behind all those karaoke filters).

I can kind of get announcing everything at once, we already have three big events this years (Take/Mizuki/Riko-Yumeno-grad) and MM's new gen was a given (despite me thinking they'd blow it off lol) so the timing not to overshadow anything was difficult. But yeah... Harosute is today lmao. They could have made a special episode like they did after the CG reshuffle lol

Some things I took away from watching this!

MM'23

- Feels like both Ako and Haruka are decent singers out of the gate, but I think Ako is the better dancer.
- Sakurai came off very polite and well-spoken, I didn't know she had that kind of style to her, may keep an eye out
- STILL, NO SINGLE ANNOUNCEMENT?!?
- Liked that Haruka likes Homare!

ANGERME

- Goto and Shimoitani I think will fit in just fine
- Only Takechan would friggin tell Yukiho over some sushi~
- Surprised that we didn't get the group's reaction (here and for Juice=Juice)

- Kawashima came off to me as if that wasn't where she wanted to join (not cold, but passive?), but it could be offset by her quiet demeanor

Hello Pro Kenshuusei Unit '23

- This is probably where I'm conflicted the most? They're debuting the unit next year, but looking at the 7 in the group, I'm having a hard time getting excited here for basically OCHA NORMA 2. I'm hoping there'll be a single for the 2 songs they've been currently performing, but I don't know....other than Karin (and maybe Ayana and Rena), the other members aren't the strongest out there, so this new audition may be there to add more singers?
- Leaving Kawano, Makino, and Hayashi as the last KSS members (I think this is the only time since 1st Gen, where it's literally just members off a generation, is wild to me...I get a feeling that if they don't add new members here with the June Recital, it's safe to bet that maybe they'll be ending the program, I only say this because the Shindan Test this year was kind of light and the awards were just best performance.
- With the Unit debuting, that gives us 7 units...comes off as a little overkill considering how large all these groups are. Honestly, it's just too many groups now with too many members involved

If I remember correctly, Tsunku cared so much about rhythm that he used to ignore bad voices and pitches. I don't remember much of Konno's and Koharu's beginnings, they were tonedeaf but towards the end at least had the rhythm down. And Sayumi especially was chosen for her talent in rhythm. Then again, I think it was Ai who said she had difficulty with the 16-beat-rhythm in the beginning - one of the best singers in Morning's history. Meimi too, iirc.

From what I have seen of her before (also during the one-on-one some time ago) she seems to be timid and shy, so I wouldn't think too much of it. But iirc she said she wanted to join MM, so being picked for any other group while MM was also looking for new members might have been a bit disappointing for her.

I absolutely share your sentiments. To be fair I haven't watched the latest recital so I don't know how well these girls do on stage, but it's definitely a "we want to debut everyone" feeling now. But who knows, I also thought Tsubaki were pretty bad when they started and look at them now. I just don't know what kind of niche they're going to fill. Ocha has the classic H!P charm mixed with Berryz weirdness but also some kind of Country Girls retroness. Then again, we are missing a cute style group.
But yeah, it's a bit overkill right now. Especially since releases are already spread thinly.

I didn’t think I’d like Ocha when they debuted but every release they have had, I’ve enjoyed. So we shall see with this group.

At this point in time I believe Beyooooonds is not going to do a generational thing. They could in theory so it because you could easily add in a new group without disrupting the other groups. And I find that funny. The one group where you expect additions ,may never get them.

I don't think they'd have added the 35th gen if they were planning to shut down KSS, nor do I think they'd be gearing up for new H!P auditions so soon after adding new members to so many groups. Debuting a 7th group seems crazy, though, especially with releases being so sparse as they've been the past few years. I agree that Biyo is likely to not see any new members join, and I wonder if their long-term plan has a flexible future exit date for the group?

Pure Red, huh. I guess it makes sense, the other free one is hot pink and they gave red a one-year break.

Makes me wonder what colours the other newbies will get. For Morning I can see turqoise making a comeback (obviously not calling it emerald green), and maybe even light orange since they seem to avoid recently graduated members' colours (red).
I think Anju will take Kassa's hot pink and maybe light blue or dark purple.
