It's... more dramatic, I think, and not as much physical comedy as the Japanese one.
Oh, and the... MatsuJun's character? ditched the curly hair after six episodes. The Korean guy playing MatsuJun's character looks much better with straight hair, but yet the HYD purist in me wants it to still be curly... ah, well. I could practically write a thesis paper on analyzing and contrasting the similarities and differences and inferring cultural reasons and..[/quote]
I really like the Korean version of HYD and the Japanese version. But, imo, I think the guy who plays Jun Pyo (Tsukasa) has acting really well and does a better of MatsuJun. I love Jun to death but I envisioned Tsukasa's character as the one closely to Jun Pyo's character. I haven't seen Meteor Garden yet, is it any good?

Most people [who don't have a MatsuJun bias] I've talked to seem to agree with you. K-Dramas tend to be super srs, so fittingly BOF is more of a serious adaptation? MatsuJun is a riot, but HYD was a lot more... crazy? I can't explain it..
Meteor Garden is... Taiwanese. <img src='

I can't judge, I've only watched like five minutes of it, but I've heard it's not bad.. I think it's leaning more towards the Japanese HYD in the overall tone, but I think it's also pretty loyal to the manga? I dunno, this is just what I've heard.
I wish K-Dramas weren't so srs bzness, I've yet to find one like Nobuta wo Produce (my favorite ever) that's more light-hearted/comedic and not centered entirely on a ~love story~.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a drama like Nobuta? Japanese, Korean, whatever, I just am so tired of the standard romance format.
