Hello! Project producer Tsunku announced on his blog today that a new Hello! Pro Egg unit will debut this Autumn. The unit is as of yet unamed as is the unit’s purpose, Tsunku describes their debut as their major debut -
The group is made up of;
Ogawa Saki
Fukuda Kanon
Wada Ayaka
Maeda Yuuka
Shugo Chara Eggs minus Saho Akari.
Also announced is the joining of two new Hello! Pro Egg members; Sato Ayano and Sezaki Azusa.
Actually I don't know any of the others too well, but H!P has been putting out a lot of stuff I have loved lately (I even loved a Berryz single, that never happens!). After having a few nearly-barren years where I didn't even like what MM was putting out, this is refreshing. Plus, H!P really needs more groups now that all the Elders are off the label.
Which girl in Shugo Chara Eggs kinda looked/sounded like Kago? I know that's subjective but I swear someoen else made that statement. If she's the one that didn't get included, I don't really care about this unit at all. Yet, anyway. I'm glad to see Tsunku finally using eggs for an actual debut, though I'm a little sad Kikka isn't one of them. Hopefully now that H!P has kicked off it's largely (musically) inactive chunk of members, there will be more new Egg groups to come. I wouldn't be surprised if the next MM graduate were put in a unit with some eggs instead of going solo.

Yup! Kanon it is!
I'm really glad Meada is in there, but I too am a bit upset that Yuu is not in there. I also think that it's about time for an official group since the Elder Club got the boot. We need more groups... and someone to replace Mano.
I'm happy Ogawa Saki, Kanon and Maeda are there. Along with Yui, they are the only eggs I know and like. (Ogawa Saki is the girl in my avatar if anyone cares to know.) So of course I'll follow them, lets just hope they put something out worth following.
This is a place where a signature goes. Enjoy some Airi instead.
Probably an MM grad this year, maybe a new addition, too. BK will get better songs, C-ute will do more of the same. I think a few HP Eggs will get a decent push this year, at least an "indies group" formation (think C-ute circa late 2005), which will set up a big 2010 for said group.
Likely eggs for a push: Maeda Yuuka, Kikkawa Yuu, Ogawa Saki, Fukuda Kanon, Maeda Irori, Okai Asuna
Video of the selection and comments by Tsunku. The girls' reactions are kind of strange but understandable from their perspective. I would imagine it's a mix of shock, happiness and some sadness. Shock and happiness that they're finally getting a major debut but kind of sad because they're leaving everyone else behind. While I don't think it's all one big happy family in the HPE I think there's some genuine sympathy for those "left behind."
Finally, I was wondering what was taking them so long debuting Yuuka Kanon and Saki, cause i'll be dammed if they didn't get all the attention in most of the egg concerts i've seen. I second the "why ayaka?" notion though I would have loved to see quite a few others be in (Kikkawa Yuu, Furukawa Konatsu, and Arai Manami would've all made my day). I'm kinda hoping this group will somewhat be a newgen Minimoni. Plus with all these random anime tie-ins we've been getting. I'd love to see a stable group do these kind of songs instead of having a ton of one shot groups.
I am of the opinion that Kikkawa was not added because they are saving her for Morning Musume, and are going to add her like they added Fujimoto and LinLin.
She had a poor audition for 8th gen and didn't show as much commitment to learning the songs as she should, but they couldn't deny the talent, and so they are training her up.
I think she would fit right in and Morning Musume could use the talent.

Whoa interesting. Why is Saki popular? I thought Eggs only got attention for their looks, being that they weren't involved in anything to show their personalities. And uh, Saki isn't super cute imo.
I think it was because she was another Airi type girl. Young and a good/decent singer. For their debut concert, she got a lot of lines and stood out among all the girls, and I think that's what triggered her fanbase?
I hadn't heard anything of Ogawa Saki until now so I looked some things up.. And she can sing! Here's a sample performance of Saki - She holds her own even when paired with Airi and LinLin. Her voice is very rich for someone so young.
I'm madly in love with Kanon and Yuuka already, and I think I will Saki quite a bit after hearing her voice. If only I could swap out Ayaka for Irori this would be perfect...
I hope they get good material though. I loved the idea of Shugo Chara Egg, but then the songs they sang weren't too great. Give'm something good, Tsunku!
Saki is the only egg there. Aina is THE Possible, and the other girl is Canary Club, I think. I'm assuming this is from a NGP concert
@Tallgeese : thanks for the video ... hope this new unit will trigger other 'shuffle' or 'steady' unit from Egg ... I do miss H!P with so many shuffle unit
Screw Ogawa, it's all about Saki Mori! No one else even knows who she is but she's my bb gurl.
This group isn't that exciting as it is Shugo Chara - one girl + one girl. So we already have a general idea of what's going down, especially as Ogawa Saki is shoved down any Egg fan's throats. Not that I've paid obsessive attention, but I do enjoy the tiny things and whenever I peek over, there's Ogawa! She's cute and has a great voice, which means that she'll get all the lines while the other three ooh and aah I'm sure, I call it now. I like new groups, so I'm pretty excited! I also liked the general sound of Shugo Chara save Ayaka, but oh well. It wouldn't be H!P if there wasn't at least ONE voice making me want to vomit!
it's just. Us finishing what we started in that hotel in Little Tokyo. - TnA
A little bump, hopes it's alright, for the new information. According to Tsunku's blog, the group's name is S/mileage. If you have a FC membership, you can watch their progress videos on the site (like them in the studio, their comments, and etc; and those who has no membership, various people are uploading them via other servers like youtube.
