UP!
Well... saw UP. What can I say? It was funny, exciting, ...and a host of other random emotional adjectives. All I have to say is:
If you didn't feel at least a LITTLE sad during "those" parts of the movie, you are either a horrible jackass or a transformer, devoid of human feelings. No pretending that being a horrible jackass auto-qualifies you as a transformer, Geof. But yeah, it pokes at your brain like that. Also, how Carl turns back the clock to do action-y stuff is exciting.
I recommend it to all, except tiny newborn babies, since my theater had WAY to many of those.

Re: UP!
I saw UP today. It was really a great movie. The resolve was just so heart-warming. There were a lot of unexpected turns that I enjoyed that weren't just out there to be different. I think Pixar is really adept at doing that. They have really good twists. Visually, the movie was, like usual, stunning, but it can't be compared to Wall-E. Wall-E had such amazing settings that really showed off tons of beautiful graphics. UP seemed more of a physics based beauty.

I went and saw Up today too <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' /> I was a bit surprised at some of the stuff it dealt with, just 'cause I'm not sure how well small kids process it xD It was very sweet and quite sad at parts. Still leaves a bit of melancholy in my mouth, actually - they didn't really explain why Russell's dad didn't show up at the end, did they?

Re: UP!
I saw Up yesterday, and I wasn't expecting to like it so much! I wasn't a huge fan of Wall-E (sorry!)... Or I think the movie because that for Pixar? Unless it was Monsters Inc? Was that Pixar??
But definitely a good movie! Plan to get it when it comes out on DVD. I'm really tempted to go see it again in theaters...

See, I thought it sounded like they were building it like Phyllis was the one coming between Russell and his father, so I was really surprised to see her there and not the dad.
But yeah, Carl is badass.

Ohhhh that makes more sense. xD
Re: UP!
Going to see Up tonight, NOT READING ABOVE POSTS. Can't wait, though I'd be stunned if I enjoyed it more than Wall-E (and damn hopeful it doesn't make me all wet in the EYE SOCKET like Wall-E)...and I really want to see Trek a second time still.
Re: UP!
So like, I was SUPER PSYCHED for this movie.
It didn't let me down. I liked this more than Wall-E, actually. There's something about a cranky old man that I love to death, even if he probably performed more physical feats than I think I could ever do, and I'm in my twenties! The characters were all charming. And the strange badges at the ending credits made me laugh. Radiation? Atomic blasts? WTF were those kids learning? hahaha I thought it was Fallout for a second! The opening short was really cute too. I loved that cloud!
I cried during the first montage and was that the first time a children's movie referenced a miscarriage? and during the second montage with the book. I don't know why things like that touch me so much.
The dogs were awesome too, exactly the sort of endearing stupid personality that I expected a dog to have.
I'll go see this at least two more times before the run is out. I want to get the 2D showings though... 3D's colors were dulled and it is AWKWARD having the 3D glasses over your seeing glasses!

Yeah, I chose to go to the 2D since I was wearing my glasses, but I think I'd like to take my sister and go see the 3D <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... iggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Re: UP!
My sister wanted to go to the 3D one, so we went... I forgot I had glasses on under my 3D ones in all truth. But it definitely wasn't worth seeing it in 3D. There wasn't much that even popped out at you for it to be worth it... The trailers were way more into that than the actual movie... Unless I just got used to it?
But like Petit Melon said, the colors were duller than 2D. I took my glasses off at the credits, and the colors were much more vibrant than with them on <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Re: UP!
I didn't really dig the 3D. Next time I'll pass on 3D versions. Anyway, it was good and solid, definitely more mature than I thought. It still doesn't top Nemo, as far as roller coaster adventures go, but it was still a fun ride. To me, it was basically Gran Torino for kids. A grumpy old guy who loses everything and sees his world (for him) changing for the worse meets a young kid in search of a father figure. Luckily, this had a happier ending!

Re: UP!
Pixar never ever lets me down. It's not as good as WALL-E, but I'd put it up near Ratatouille. Good story telling and awesome characters. Brad and Kevin = <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/wub.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /> And Ed Asner and Christopher Plummer were great in their parts. I love how they they're using people from my childhood/the loves of my life respectively.
And the short in the beginning was ADORABLE. I want to watch that over and over again it was so good. I'm such a Pixar fangirl.
And I'm a lot more excited for Toy Story 3 than I should be, simply because both Jodi Benson and Michael Keaton are voices in it. YAY!

Re: UP!
Did anyone else notice the last badge was right over Russell's heart?
And someone at work dumbfounded me to speechlessness.
Me: Have you seen UP? It's really good!
Him: I don't watch kid's movies.
Me: (I become stumbling moron for several seconds as my brain breaks down)
Him: Yeah, you can, but that's too kiddy for me.
Me: Err... you like anime.
Him: <standard ANIME IS SOOOO MATURE HARHAR bullshit>
Me: Well, think of it like a Miyazaki film...
Him: Miyazaki makes kid movies too.
