Ahahahaaaa, I am so watching this. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':weeeh:' /> Ooh, and I'll look forward to the inevitable theme songs that DON'T make my eardrums prolapse!

Re: Tanaka Reina gets her own Anime
Anime character designers clearly just love using Reina for their characters. Must be her natural look.

Re: Tanaka Reina gets her own Anime
"Kaito" is "thief", right?
The drawing style looks very cute. It looks slightly DS video-game-esque.
I will probably watch it if someone uploads episodes.
Will there be photos of Reina dressed in the character's outfits? I hope so. That cat-eared, patchy thing with the spiked bracelets looks so damn adorable.
On a "poke fun at Reina" side...
Do you notice that both pics of her character are winking? She can't stop winking, even when drawn! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':weeeh:' />

Yeah, it looks like she'll be a "cat burglar." Of course, she's a shop clerk by day! The existence of the Noto's policewoman makes it seem like it will be a less pervy version of Shadow Lady.
The story page on that website has a very short animated preview if anyone missed it (edit: oh, I guess it's also on the H!O link. I didn't look there).

Cute! The character style is obviously Japanese, but does anyone else find the animation looking more like American animation than anime? <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cryalot:' /> It reminds me of the Powerpuff Girls or Dexter's Laboratory. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... deways.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':weeeh:' />

<img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... lesson.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lesson:' /> Perhaps because many U.S. cartoon series from the 90's were stylized based off of Japanese animation. It's a small world after all.
Looks like a kid's show, but it sounds fun and is a thankfully short series.

Even if it is because of some character, I'm happy Reina finally got a blog! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nceman.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':sideways:' /> She is so cute holding the doll in that first picture of the blog. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/wub.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lesson:' /> I hope she will keep it updated!

I would have preferred live-action Reina as Bulma in a Dragon Ball movie. They never get these things right.

It looks cute. I love art styles like that. It's very cute and simple. The animation looks like it was done using flash. Or at the very least, a bad mimicry of the style done for the animated segments in the live action Cutey Honey(of did they steal those from an actual anime? I think they did but my memory is that of a wombat). Nocchi looks like a damn retarded airhead. I am hoping for great gags at her expense.
Here's hoping Reina is a decent VA!

She's already been a VA before, for "Onegai My Melody Kirara." You can watch her here (she's the human girl, Kirara) and decide. She seems decent enough I guess?
I'm not a Reina fan at all, but she's been moving away from her annoying voice that she was using for a while within MM, so hopefully we'll get a cute theme song out of this. As long as I don't have to watch her winking me to death, she's not so bad these days. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':sideways:' />

Re: Tanaka Reina gets her own Anime
I didn't realize I had to explain the whole of the world's animation history and influences when I was just making the point that Craig McCracken (Powerpuff Girls), Genndy Tartakovsky (Dexter's Laboratory), and others have been influenced by Japanese animation. By some forced extension of imagination, I'm now also criticizing and invalidating the same people for not being anime.
Edited for future grammar.

I was pissed because you said it with a know-it-all snark plus the little "The more you know" smiley. Acting like anime was God of all animation at that time is ridiculous. I'm failing to see the influence in Dexter's Lab as well. Perhaps SAMURAI JACK is the Tartakovsky show you're looking for.

Eng101, you've migrated from the Something Awful forums and on to general Internet use. Your intended use has become varied and your role situational. How do you feel about that?
<img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... lesson.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':sideways:' /> - "I'm not snarky. I'm adorable! Please don't hate me."
I'll just say nothing was meant by what I said other than what was said. I tend to be dry in dealing with people in real life and I guess I bring it on to message boards, too. It can lead to misunderstandings.

Oh, it's there. Dee Dee's big, bright eyes, Dexter's dramatic scenes of jumping into his new robot invention with swirling camera angles, Mandark's tentacle porn collection....
But, anyway, this thread is about Reina being a cat and is in danger of derailing. Here's a picture.

I believe those were from the Cutey Honey OVA that came out around the same time as the movie. I didn't see it, so I'm not sure.

Hoorah for Reina. It looks good so I can't wait to see it.
Re: Tanaka Reina gets her own Anime
heck-as-old bump because it's necessary and the first episode is up on youtube.
Looks like UFA's anime division barely scraped the funds to put this together, because I'm sure there are plenty of people who could singlehandedly cobble this together. (But they got Mizushima Seiji - the Gundam 00 producer and all-round Reina fanboy.)
It's okay, and generally comprehensible, even though the show's only aired locally (in the Fukuoka region) and is littered with Hakata-ben (which actually sounds decently close to the proper dialect than a number of other regional dialects). Reina doesn't fare too badly, although in terms of interest it's nothing like Jewel Pet, to say nothing of Kirarin.

It's freakin' hilarious!! All the little "innuendos" from the incompetent police force and of course Reinya and that mouse had me splittin' my gut!! I can't wait to watch more....even though I'm having a hard time following along.

Totally. In fact, it reminded me of it so much that I was momentarily impressed with the fact that I was watching it so soon after its initial airing, then I remembered that its 2010, not 2001.

Re: Tanaka Reina gets her own Anime
I really enjoyed the first episode of this. The Hello Project inside jokes were great, especially the mouse's "Eh! What, is someone going to graduate from Morning Musume!?".
It's too short and probably won't last more than a few months, but it's cute and has a light-hearted feel. I don't think I'd want high quality animation as then it would just be pathetic that it only had three minute episodes.
I'm looking forward to more randomness in the coming episodes. And yeah Hakata-ben is much more understandable to me than something like Tsunku's Osaka-ben or Makoto's make-up-my-own-language-ben. That girl usually as MCs at her talk events to translate into Japanese.

Re: Tanaka Reina gets her own Anime
Thank you, EmEl! I had already watched it in Japanese and found it a little interesting although it was nothing different from others with the same format. What really called my attention are the BGM's! And well, it's cute and fast, should get some kids at least curious if the broadcaster start associating Reina and Reenya or something. It seems that a single or at least a Reina song is to be released? That's her in the opening, right? The goods could be better like Kirarin's were... But I'm excited even though I'm no Reina fan!
