Kusumi Koharu's Last Stand
Today is the day that Koharu steps out into the sun and gets hit by the reality bus! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... iggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cryalot:' />
At least she went out the same way she came in. (That includes her choice of Graduation song though minus the special helmet!)
AWKWARD~ <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... iggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':eekrun:' />
Any final words or thoughts about the Koha now that she's no longer in Morning Musume?

This is a place where a signature goes. Enjoy some Airi instead.
Re: Kusumi Koharu's Last Stand
So long, Koharu! Don't let the door hit you on your tone-deaf ass on the way out!
But sincerely, at least you did get better looking over time. Good luck hostessing!

Re: Kusumi Koharu's Last Stand
I just have to ask one thing...
Did she ever wear her hair down (besides Shouganai Yume Oibito), or was it just super-glued up on her head?
What WAS her graduation song, anyway? I'm too lazy to get on YouTube.

Re: Kusumi Koharu's Last Stand
I'm not actually a huge fan of her, but it's going to be weird for a while. I've haven't been a momusu fan long enough to see a graduation before.

Re: Kusumi Koharu's Last Stand
Hm, it really does look like a small-scale graduation after all. Though, of course, the only MoMusu whose graduation I've actually witnessed is Yossy, so maybe Yossy's was just unusually large. On that same vein, I wonder if Koharu's goodbye wishes were as emotional as Yossy's were. For some reason, I don't get that impression.
Re: Kusumi Koharu's Last Stand
Well, Yossie was the leader when she graduated, so I would've expected it to have been bigger than Kusumi's.

I'm so happy she left, I never liked her and she's my most (and only really) hated person in H!P.
Now she won't ruin the songs anymore. They just need to re-record Nanchatte Renai, Ambitious! Yashinteki de ii jan and Onna ni Sachi Are without her now, then I'm perfectly and can live on as if she never joined ! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /dance.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cryalot:' />
Now let's all sing together !

Re: Kusumi Koharu's Last Stand
I saw some pics of JunJun crying during the bit where they say their messages, but Koharu was all smiles.
Then I remembered that Koharu smiles through EVERYTHING, even songs with sad lyrics, so how can one tell when she is sad at all during this major event?

Re: Kusumi Koharu's Last Stand
Ah, this sucks. I only like two people in MM now, how sad. Now that Koharu is gone, I don't have to buy any singles anymore. I may like Eri and Risa, but not enough to support MM anymore <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cryalot:' />.

Re: Kusumi Koharu's Last Stand
I used to like her in the beginning until... Balalaika, I think. Then I began to hater her. And when Kirarin was finally over, I went whatever. Now she's graduated... It feels almost like the first graduation from Morning Musume to me because even thought 6th gen joined a month or so after I started liking Hello!Project, the 7th gen was the one I followed since the ver beginning as a real fan of MoMusu. Cutting it short: I'm sad. But I still don't know if I will really miss Koharu. She had personality but that was what pissed me a little. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I just wish she weren't gone forever.

Got my hands on the concert recording, and everyone was all sniffles. I think Junjun, Sayumi, and Risa were the ones crying the most. Interestingly, waterworks Takahashi was reasonably subdued and not making as much noise as everybody else.
I haven't watched the TsujiKago grad concert, and was wondering if it (or maybe even Goto's grad) would be a better comparison than oh say, Yossi's, or any of the older leaders. By age, Koharu is the second youngest member and acts like the noisy baby of the family anyway, so that meant that 5/8 of the group did not look up to her, and 8th gen are not as fearful of their sempai as previous generations. Junjun actually told Koharu to give her a call for a bickering round in the future <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hahaha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hahaha:' />
In a way, I'll miss Koharu. True, she did absolutely nothing musically for the group, but she always seemed like a good-natured mood maker. She's still on the kiddy show Oha Star, and it'll be nice to see if she's going to change her personality through that show. (Yes, Koharu is the only member who actually goes on TV on a weekly basis <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hatthe.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whatthe:' /> )

Re: Kusumi Koharu's Last Stand
Did Koharu cry at all during her graduation? Gypchan says she was all smiles. But I remember her crying like a baby when Makoto and Asami graduated. She was trying to get a message out and then she just lost it and sobbed uncontrollably and went and hugged one of them (I think it was Konno). Hearing her bawl like that just about broke my heart. Makes me tear up just thinking about it.
She was a bit much on some of her solo ventures, but I always enjoyed her work in the group. There was one concert where everyone else just seemed overwhelmed and unable to summon up any spirit (I believe it was Spring '08), and Koharu just kept plugging away, firmly occupying her own wavelength. A valiant soul.
I'm sad. I'm gonna miss her. I think she's got all kinds of great things ahead of her; she may have to leave Japan to achieve them, though. I just hope I get to see what she does.
As I pointed out in my blog entry of Sept. 23, Koharu's departure leaves a break in the generational continuity, the first since Mari was still in the group back in early 2005 and Gens 2, 4, 5, and 6 were represented. Now only Gens 5, 6, and 8 are represented, one of only three periods when only three generations were represented. And this is the only time when there are only three generations and the generations are out of continuity.

Re: Kusumi Koharu's Last Stand
Man, I had intended to write a somewhat lengthy post on this, but I really don't have anything to say other than that it sounds like it was amazing. The messages seem a lot more sincere this time around. Have we ever heard someone say they hated the graduating member before? Or have all the members say something negative? <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D/' />
I think the Furusato choice works, too. I rewatched her auditions, and it seems like Tsunku picked her after making her sing that song. Not that she's really improved an amazing lot in the singing department, but I think she's come a long way from being a retarded country bumpkin in a helmet. She also mentioned her sister when she joined MM, and again at her graduation. Has anyone seen her older sister, by the way? She looks EXACTLY like Koharu. And she listed Koharu as her favorite entertainer on her blog. Isn't that adorable. I wish my sisters weren't cunts.
I still think it's shady though, man. Such a small graduation. I heard front row tickets were going upwards of 60,000 yen. Or was it 600,000? I forget. Either way. I still think they could've done a dome. There are a lot of people who wanted to go but couldn't get a ticket because the capacity is only 2,000.
And here is a memorial picture that Koharu and I took. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/devil.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Re: Kusumi Koharu's Last Stand
I can't say that I'm either happy nor sad that Koharu is graduating. That sounds bad, I know, but that's just the reality of it. Now I hope that Aika, JunJun, and LinLin will at least get more of a spotlight. Heck, even maybe Gaki and Kamei will be able to sing more lines and the 8th gen will no longer be background dancers. But, MM will continue on, just like they have since the very first graduation.

yeah blahblahblah goodbye to you and your beautiful crooked teeth and airhead and inability to sing.
Can this PLEASE mean 9th gen? Or at least, bring some of the Eggs (KikkaYuu PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE) up. The lineup needs fresh blood.

Re: Kusumi Koharu's Last Stand
I enjoyed reading the translated member messages just for the fact that half of them were like, "Yeah...you sucked at first." <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Of course, not that harsh, but there were a lot of them where they joked about not liking her or her not being good. So fitting for what everyone here thinks/thought about her.
I kind of dislike the fact that EVERYONE seemed so sob-sob about it. I miss having the few who weren't so emotional because, when everyone is like that, it seems a bit fake to me. As if they're doing it just so people will go "Aww". Maybe seeing footage it'll be different though. Hello-Online translated it as saying "about to cry" but maybe it was just a sniffle. Aika seemed a bit bland, but that's expected.

From what I read in the beginning when Koha's graduation was announced, it seemed that Aika and Koha both thought that it was supposed to be a celebration type thing. Aika clapped but then when she saw the other girls she stopped clapping and when Eri started crying Koha looked at her like "what are you crying for?". Maybe that's why Aika really didn't shed any tears (which will kinda make her the Yossy of the group) and why Koha was so energetic during her concert.......I mean, she kinda got a wish, right? The whole concert was really about her and the focus was ALL on her!! She kind of strikes me as that kind of girl.

I don't know. it saddens me to remember how sad I used to get when MM members graduated in the past and how I don't care a lot anymore <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Aika seemed a bit bland, but that's expected.[/quote]
Maybe that's why Aika really didn't shed any tears (which will kinda make her the Yossy of the group) and why Koha was so energetic during her concert......I mean, she kinda got a wish, right? The whole concert was really about her and the focus was ALL on her!! She kind of strikes me as that kind of girl.

Yeah, that about sums it up. But that's one of the things I liked about her. She always stood out from the others because of that need for attention. And in an era where so few strong personalities remained in the group, it represented something. Maybe not necessarily a strong personality, but at least a drive of some kind, some ambition.

You're getting me all nostalgic for all those Yossi/Miki dry-eyed graduation moments.

Now that you mentioned it, I kinda miss those too!! Miki with her "you did well with us/glad I met you/okay now, goodbye" type sending off. It was almost as if Miki was a bit jealous it wasn't her leaving and having more freedom liked she used to have when she was solo.
