I love Melon, Country and Everyone else (aside from Coconuts) but the above are my favorite~favorites.

7. Mini Moni (really interesting TV personalities and decent releases)

8. boobiesboobiesboobies v-u-den (not bad overall, but so-so personalities)

I...can't really do a top 10, as you can see. I like groups for different reasons, and it's hard for me to compare a group like Morning Musume, which is still active and still putting out songs I like, to T&C Bomber which had an awesome run but isn't as fresh and new in my mind. It's also hard to compare groups that have tons of singles and albums to ones that only have a few. For groups with member changes and rebooted versions, I ranked them based on how I felt about them overall, through all variations.



Some groups I just couldn't separate out. Like with Berryz and C-ute, I feel like neither of them are consistently awesome. Usually one will have a run of great singles while the other has a run of lame ones. So they even out for me. For Pucchi Moni, MKB, and Mini Moni, all have some really great songs I love, but overall they're not the groups I go back to over and over.

I thought about including solos, but the group dynamic of melding several individuals plays a part in why people like some groups more than others, so that's why I eventually decided to do groups only. A ranking including solos would be interesting, though, as a sort of overall Tsunku Ranking.

1. C-ute - First of all, Nakky's there. Second of all, I've yet to hear a song by them that I don't wind up loving.

2. T&C - Everyday Everywhere. Nuff said.

3. Morning Musume - With so many songs, it's hard NOT to find a handful that you really like.

4. Tanpopo - Motto is amazing, A Rainy Day is amazing, and everything else is pretty good too.

5. Pucchimoni - Don't much like their album, but all their singles are ace.

6. Country Musume - Futari no Hokkaidou is one of the best singles H!P has ever popped out, man.

7. W - Love their covers and the way they harmonize.

8. Sheki-Dol - A great group, but would've been up higher if Ai wa Muteki wasn't so boring.

9. Coconuts Musume - Don't have much to say about this one, I just really like their songs.

10. Berryz Koubou - A pretty solid group, not terribly interesting, but nice enough.



Honorable mention to Buono! - Keep up with things like Our Songs, and you may just sneak in there.

C-ute just barely made it into the list because I like 2~3 songs of them and the girls are more recognizable than the Berryz to me.

I guess Buono and Berryz are not too bad either, but they're not important music-wise nor tv-wise to me.



The ones I did not mention I do not care about.

I feel like having to clearify this: Don't get me wrong, that doesn't mean I hate them or want them to disband, it's just that they did not leave much of an impact. It's just the groups mentioned above that really defined H!P for me. The (former) adult v-u-den, the kids C-ute, the long lasting Morning Musume and the fun Minimoni.

I ranked them by how many songs I like from them.



1. Morning Musume (Considering I have all their albums and Single and C/W Collection, they win.)

2. Buono! (If their last album hadn't been released yet, Minimoni would have taken second but after the last album they shot to second.)

3. Minimoni (It was all about the PVs for them and despite the fact that they turned into Blingmoni™, I liked their last album.)

4. Tanpopo (Tanpopo, I love them in each and every transformation they've taken, even #.)

5. W (It had Kago and I love Kago. Then she destroyed it all. Gone but never forgotten but I've never bought any of their stuff. I will some day! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... iggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />)

6. GAM (It had Aya AND Miki, it was a dream team that took the place of W till they went and had their own little scandal. Thanks Miki! Why it always the ones I like that create the scandal?)

7. Country Musume (I liked classic before Rika, after Rika with Konno and Miki and a little Rika sometimes.)

8. V-u-den (It had Rika. D: But at least the songs were good. I'll miss them.)

9. Berryz Koubou ( Berryz wins for songs but not singing because I don't think any of them can sing but I do like their songs.)

10. Pucchimoni (Would have ranked higher if they released more. But they didn't and the whole Makoto/Hitomi/Ayaka group thing felt really weird.)

11. Melon Kinebi (I only liked a handful of their songs, they sang great compared to other groups, but I never really got to know the group and I rarely ever played their music anymore but that's my own fault since I've never managed to stick it on my iPod.)

12. C-ute (I love the group but I hate their songs! D: I surprised myself at how low I put them. But at least they made it onto my iPod unlike the last group.) xD

13. T&C (I only liked two of their songs.)

14. Coconuts Musume (They will never be on my iPod, I can stand their songs but I don't like them. I'd rather skip then sit through the songs.)

My top 3 are MM, W, and Biyuden. After that, they all kind of shift depending on my mood or what I'm into at the moment. It could be Berryz one day, Melon Kinenbi the next, or C-ute one day and Tanpopo the next. They're all good.

=1 MM and MKB, if I had to split them I would say MM get the nod on their recorded work but MKB are/were better in concert.



2 T&C, they were excellent live and recorded some great songs.... why oh why were they dropped.



3 Tanpopo, but only the original line up, Last Kiss is awesome.... why oh why were they dropped (I am sure they could have kept Ishiguro in a UFA cellar).



4 V-u-den, a definite case of the whole being greater than the parts, individually they were no better than adequate vocally (and I'm being polite there) but somehow their concerts were great due to the strengths of the three different personalities gelling together.



5 GAM, I really needed more from them, I think they had the potential to have been really good, I was never a huge fan of Miki but I've always loved Ayaya.



Honourable mention for Country Musume and Pucchimoni, I would liked to have seen CM live and any group with Yossie and Kei-chan in has to have something about it although I was fairly indifferent about most of their songs except Baby! Koi ni Knock Out!

I don't think T&C were dropped. More that they were an older group (age-wise) and they were all wanting to do their own thing so they just broke apart much sooner and it didn't help that they went through a name-change and all.





Country Musume is an odd group to like, but they got a raw deal from the start. You can't blame Country Musume for the member changes but I wish things worked out differently for that group fate wise as I would have loved to see what they could have accomplished without fate stepping in and killing one of the members and the other girls leaving and lastly the help of Tsunku/UFA adding members after Rinne Todd was left by herself. And Tsunku kept changing their music style and it was just really weird. I liked their country style stuff but I also liked their techno stuff.



And I swear one of the girls in Sheki-doll looks like Tsunku in drag. D:

I'd like to mention that if I didn't consider Momusu's older singles they would lose to Berryz and that anything that was not mentioned, it was either because I forgot or because I didn't listen to them enough to have a good or a bad opinion, like T&C, ICM, SCE! etc. I know I did mention one-shot groups but they seem really important for me right now. And don't forget, if I were to rank them again tomorrow, things would be completely different! XD Plus, °C-ute has lost a lot of positions for being boring nowadays... But i really loved them... There was a time when I actually found them more interesting than everyone else. Right now, I love Airi, not °C-ute.

1. Morning Musume - Yuko, Kei, Maki, Yossi, Risa, Miki, Eri, and everyone else! (except Koharu). So many amazing people, so many catchy and re-playable songs! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/wub.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /> I will ALWAYS love my Risa.

2. Berryz Koubou - It has Maasa and Miyabi. I have loved all their releases (EXCEPT Ryuusei Boy/Watashi no Mirai no Danna-sama, that was horrid.)

3. Viyuuden - Oh my god they were awesome. I actually ended up loving Rika ten times more.

4. Tanpopo - Every song was so felt. Especially in first gen, they had a uniqueness that has yet to be repeated.

5. W - At the time I thought they'd go on forever. Are Ai and Nozomi even friends anymore? ;__;

6. Melon Kinenbi - Come ON. I cannot believe they have just broken up, oh man were they underused!!!!





and everyone else was good too. Blah.

01. Morning Musume. Despite how much I bitch and whine about the current group, the sum of all the past and the glimpses of awesome in the present put them at numero uno. And now that my least favorite member of all the momusus is gone, it'll be a brighter future indeed.

02. Melon Kinenbi. I have, like, all ten of their nonfanclub only releases! They were awesome in concert and had great group dynamic that no H!P group has ever, or probably ever will, have. Who else could perform the same songs for 10 years and make them fresh and fun every.single.time? Their collab singles are some of the most interesting things to come out of H!P. I'm glad they ended on a high note.

03. Buono!. The best thing in H!P right now, period. Quality releases, concerts with a live band, and it managed to make me like (somewhat) horseface and snaggletooth.

04. W. At their height, I looked forward to their releases the most. Their cover album was so awesome and I'm still pissed I'll never hear their last single/album. CURSE YOU KAAAAGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

05. Mini Moni. Such a cute and energetic group with the best kid songs I've ever heard (TAKE THAT Kidz Bop or whatever the hell it's called). I wish they sang more parts in english so my future crotchfruit can listen to them. Their movie was so awesome my animation class in high school loved it and it kept some kids with the brain capacity of ants enraptured,despite their inablility to keep up with subtitles. Lucky Cha Cha Cha was an awesome note to end on. I can still do the complete dance routine from memory <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... smooch.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

06. Pucchi Moni. The first subgroup I got into back when H!P was a happy funland full of unicorns and marshmallows. This group lead me to love the Goto.

07. GAM. Miki and Aya. That's all that needs to be said.

08. C-ute. They're so cute. And everytime I like a member they leave. Doesn't matter, it's the Airi show, but at least she has an awesome voice so it's not too annoying....but they should've given her that solo career she deserved.

I'm sad that Melon's going...and I wish they'd revive the subgroups again, and not just for a cover album...I hope that the new songs on Pucchibest 10 mean something and aren't just a sad cocktease, because I actually like the new groups.



I wish that there was a pair within H!P that was as dynamic and hilariously awesome as TsujiKago were, because I miss my W so so much. I thought that they were pushing the Shigepink/Kohapink thing in that direction, and I was ready to go for it (even though Koha is NOT my favorite), but I see now it's not going to end up that way. I miss you, W!!! T__T



(Is it wrong that I get a bit misty-eyed every time I listen to the W Joshi Koutou Gakkou Kouka from their 2nd Album?)
