2010 World Cup

Post by Melon »

The 2010 World Cup starts in 4 days. Time for a thread to express my extreme excitement and sadness because I can't watch all the games!

For those late to the party, here's the draw results:

GROUP A: South Africa, Mexico, Uruguay and France

GROUP B: Argentina, South Korea, Nigeria and Greece

GROUP C: England, USA, Algeria and Slovenia

GROUP D: Germany, Australia, Ghana and Serbia

GROUP E: Netherlands, Japan, Cameroon and Denmark

GROUP F: Italy, New Zealand, Paraguay and Slovakia

GROUP G: Brazil, North Korea, Ivory Coast and Portugal

GROUP H: Spain, Honduras, Chile and Switzerland

The kickoff game is South Africa v Mexico.

The first game I really must watch is America v England (third game, on the 11th). Seeing how England is playing recently, I must say America should be able to win. It will be a great game, and I will root for my people! Plus, after England's initial "We're so awesome easy draw" remarks, a win would make it that much sweeter. USA USA USA

I would also like to catch all of the group of death's (G) games. Mostly to see NK get their asses handed to them.

THOSE HORNS WHOSE NAME REMINDS ME OF VAGINA!!! Gah, they're so annoying. And I think after a month of BBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRR I'm going to shoot myself.

Oh come on, I can't be the only one watching. Missed the OP games but I don't mind because I'm not rooting for any of the teams involved.

I just watched the Korea/Greece game. Holy shit was Greece playing bad. Bad case of HIA all around. I should've played some Kpop to drown out the vuvu's. I just want to hear the crowd chants again.

Now hopefully Messi will do some raping.

National anthems? Who cares? BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

HOLY YES BEAUTIFUL HEADER! HEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

HOLY CRIPES MESSI!!! That was an AMAZING shot! And the goal keeper OMG he managed to block it! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whatthe:' />

Nigerians must take some drama lessons on the side. Undeserved yellow.

HALFTIME! I laugh at Maradona's antics on the side. I can see his thought bubbles "I could've scored that! Let me on the field, I'll show them how to play!" Argentina is doing fine now, but they're gonna have problems once they play better teams. Nigeria is cutting through their defense like butter. Both teams aren't really playing defensively though.

WTF HOW THE HELL DO YOU MESS UP A 4-2?! HOOOOW!?!?

That ball...smh. It's not dropping at all. beach ball physics

HAH! Nigeria gets a yellow too!

Argh great players does not equal great coaches YES NOT EVEN TWO SECONDS LATER HE PUTS MILITO ON THE FIELD. FINALLY!

SOMEBODY SIGN THAT KEEPER TO A CLUB. DO IT NOW! Amazing saves!

It's over now. Nigerian GK is the man of the game. Wow. Maradona is a horrible coach. Argentina won't do shit with him on the lead.

See you guys later...USA USA USA

Petit, those aren't horns. Don't you know South Africa has a serious bee problem right now? You're being really insensitive to the plight of the poor people who have been running away from swarms for so long.

I'm staying up until 3am to watch England-USA. I'm doing it. Not because I love soccer, but because it's an insomnia kind of night. I'd also love England to lose since they thought it would be so easy.

USA always gives it up in the beginning. Old news.

But really, this game was Howard v England. If Howard could get up as a striker he'd lead us to victory. I wished our offense would do something. Our defense is so horrible, without Howard we'd be a laughingstock. Did I mention I love me some Howard. <3 Between this game and Nigeria's, the GKs were absolute gods. I feel sorry for them, stuck with such crappy defenders/teams.

USA SHOULD'VE attacked the second half. But they played like they wanted to protect the tie. Fuck that. Put them bitches up front and ATTACK. Rooney was all but neutered, stop worrying about the explosive bastard.

Double posting because FUCK YEAH THE DAY I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR HAS COME!

Brazil vs. North Korea.

Everyone sang Brazil's anthem. No one seems to know Korea DPR's.

Also vuvuzuelas don't seem to be...too bad. Game ain't started yet though.

Two minutes 'til kick off.

ETA - Game's going on now. NO VUVUZELAS or if they're there the portuguese announcer i picked is drowning them out.

IT IS A BEAUTIFUL DAY

ETA II - They're back. D:

I caught highlights (damn school waaaah) of Portugal/Ivory Coast game.

Not only did I get copious amounts of Ronaldo being a pussy, he got a yellow too! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! (Okay, I'll concede he had a beautiful shot on goal) The game ended as a tie, which I hope means my Ivory Coast can knock their pitiful asses out of the tourny.

Oh man, NK managed to score on Brazil? My dreams of watching them get their butts kicked are ruined!

It was pretty good. I had it on for the whole thing, and I watched about twenty minutes in Portuguese.

North Korea was surprisingly very skilled. Their goal was close to the end of the game. I was like "OMG YOU DOUCHES YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO DO THAT."

But whatevs. 2-1. That's more goals than anyone else has scored, I'm pretty sure.

By the way, I could understand the Portuguese better than that Scottish guy they had announcing for America. Atleast I could pick up a "voce" and a "Brasil" and a "Coreia do Norte" (because listening in Portuguese is not my strong suit. XD), but with the Scottish guy, half of the time I was like " <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hatthe.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':frown:' /> "

Also, am I the only one that noticed a lot of unnecessary roughage on NK's side, and a lack of refs doing anything about it?

Uruguay was fucking awesome. Best game I've seen so far.

South Africa's goalie got a red card for taking out Suarez. And Suarez kept getting hit in the face. And I was annoyed, because he's my favorite from Uruguay's team. And he's hot. If you're going to hit someone in the face, pick someone ugly. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... umbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I only saw clips (baww) but that was my first major surprise. KARMIC PAYBACK FOR THOSE VUVUS! And FUCK YOU SA FANS, HOW DARE YOU WALK OUT OF THE STADIUM! I cannot believe they did not stay and support their team. :| That's the end of their tournament now. The only way they can stay in is by the power of sheer numbers.

You are part of the problem <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':geof:' /> I've seen a couple at sporting events here and I don't know how they're not deaf after 90 minutes of constant blowing. It is LOUD. Rock concert standing next to speakers loud. Aside from the annoyingness, I really miss the chants/songs from the audience during games.

Checking the scores, Spain lost. OMG. How can you lose with that team of strong players!? Paper means nothing in WC, I love it. Hat trick for Huguain (Argentina), wow. Too bad their defense will be torn apart once they get out of the group stages.

LOL @ Greece's 5-3-2 and still getting scored on in the first twenty minutes. Go Nigeria! Next game they're going with a 9-1-0 formation hahaha Oh god, they just showed a shot of a Nigerian priest, bible in hand, blessing the team from the crowds. Hahahahaahahahaha I love it! WTF dude did you watch karate kid last night or something? WTH are you thinking!? The Greek player reacted faster to the card than the kick. Give the man an Oscar. Aw man, Greece just scored. I want them out of the tourney :|

I have missed both the games so far today. It should be illegal to have testing during Fifa. Missed the first one due to testing, half of the second one to testing, and then the TV in the band room was broken. Just the ESPN channel. None of the others. And US plays during testing tomorrow too.

At least I have today's afternoon game.

(Germany lost as well. Hilarious!)

Well, I can't complain about a draw after being down 0-2 (man, Donovan really wanted that goal, didn't he? So awesome), but seriously I was having problems with the ref before the no goal. Five yellow cards? And one for getting hit in the face with a ball? "Sorry, you aren't allowed to get hit in the face with the ball, yellow card!"

But yeah, I can't believe America had that match won after all that, but the ref took it away. There was no offsides. Where was the foul? There was only... a whistle.

This game was awesomely good. I watched it with my brother, which is more fun that watching it by myself hahaha. Good thing we both had the morning free today.

If USA was into soccer like some other countries, some mafioso would gun the ref afterwards. He took out a forward too, bastardo! He was definetly biased against us. That's the only way I can reason his calls. I don't understand why he would call some things that were obviously nothing, and let some bad things slide.

I wasn't worried at halftime, before the half started they had some good shots on goal. If they kept it up I knew they could come back. My bro was worried and was acting like they were gonna lose, but said if they score in the first fifteen they have a chance. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... umbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> He was so full of himself for "predicting" Donovan's goal. :| That goal was glorious! Bradley's goal was amazing too.

They need to start games like that and stop relying so much on Howard. I wish we had a Howard mic so I can hear what he's yelling. We have a horrible defense and unlike some other teams, we don't have strong enough players in other positions to balance it out (though I doubt those other teams can overcome that).

And at half he FINALLY took Findley out. He's too chickenshit to take the shot himself. At least pass it to someone who's open GAAAHH!! I didn't like him in the England game either. I hope he's not starting against Algeria. Onyewu hasn't been himself since his injury. We were both screaming to sub him out, and wala, look what happened once they did!

When they took that goal away we cursed so much a sailor would blush >:| It would've been the best comeback in USA soccer history. Now we have to rely on the power of numbers to advance.*

*unless we kick Algeria's ass, which we should if we play like we did today. Three goals in 25 minutes is amazing.

edit cuz I'm still mad

Image

LOOK AT THIS SHIT! I HOPE YOU EAT A BAD MEAL AND HAVE DIARRHEA OUT OF YOUR BUM AND MOUTH FOR THE REST OF THE TOURNEY YOU JERKFACE!!!!!!!!

And it would've been the FIRST TIME IN WORLD CUP HISTORY a team has come back to win from 0-2.

GRRRRR.

Yes, all they have to do is beat Algeria. That doesn't sound hard at any rate, but who knows. But I would love some of the number magic to avoid Germany (whether Germany ends up in first or second, heh heh). Also, I would love the a US win, and a 0-0 Slovenia tie. "Yanks a lot" indeed, England.

I was all ready to type:

"screwed out of two goals (and 6 points), given a gift goal (and one point). At least we'll always have Donovan's goal..."

And then Donovan gives me another goal. NHK seriously gave me the wrong game although I'm a little happy I didn't have to sit through 90 minutes of missed chances.

And we win the group, so it looks like Serbia if things go as they most likely will (not a given).
