Double post because it's a completely different subject. Sorry.
Has anyone watched Maki on Nakai's show? It's a 2 hour special documentary-ish thing of her life, focusing on the things she's had to overcome, including her dad dying, her parents' izakaya, joining MM, graduating MM and going solo, her brother, leaving H!P to join Avex, and her mother's death. It really puts everything into perspective, since the idol industry is super hush-hush about everything behind the scenes. I don't know if it's been subbed, but it's really interesting. Go watch it.

Re: The H!P Spam Thread
Wigga-wat
(source)Producer Tsunku (41) attended an event on Wednesday for enka singers Karen (17) and Akemi Misawa (65). During the event, he revealed that he is thinking of creating a female enka group called ENK48 (read as "enka 48"), though it is not clear how serious he is about the idea.
He stated that he would be fine with assembling a group of 48 female enka singers. In contrast with the strict policies of idol group AKB48 (produced by Yasushi Akimoto), Tsunku declared that his members would have the personal freedom to be in romantic relationships. The group would likely be based in Shinbashi or Kinshicho (areas with large amounts of salarymen), and Tsunku imagined the group performing in a corner of a soba shop (as opposed to AKB48's theater located in a Don Quijote discount store).
Tsunku has been the mastermind behind Morning Musume and numerous other idol projects. (Karen herself auditioned for Morning Musume but did not pass, and she is currently part of Tsunku's NICE GIRL Project.) Tsunku also has experience creating songs for many enka artists. Because of the current dominance of AKB48, he has apparently been working on new strategies, and ENK48 is one of the ideas he arrived at.

I hope he gets sued if he really calls them ENK48.
The idea iself isn't too bad though. Might give all of H!P refreshing updraft.

I think that Tokyograph article is a horrible misinterpretation. From the Japanese source it seems more like they were just joking around a bit. He said their theatre would be the corner of a noodle restaurant

Yeah, it was really good. Given half the chance I would beat the fuck out of Yuki since that little bastard is pretty much responsible for every bad thing that's happened to her in the last decade.

Oh my god. This show is so manipulative but holy damn that is one fucked up life. I think we should make a separate thread about this, no?
I feel like it sort of explains why and where Maki got her determination. It also explains why Yuki is so screwed up too. And how doubly traumatizing to see her mom - the strong one who kept the family together - fall apart and die like that.
As a small aside, it was sort of fascinating to see Maki's house and all the old pictures. I wish they didn't have to use those weird reenactments.
Also! Damn, from the day she got into mm she had 2 weeks to learn all the songs and dances for the concert.
Edit AGAIN: omg I can't watch this all in one go. I am so sad for Maki. I'm going to go buy her cds now.

Re: The H!P Spam Thread
ENK48 sounds like a joke that just kept on growing. "Yeah, and we'd call them ENK48. Oh, and of course they'll be able to date. Oh, oh oh, and we'll have to find an area with salarymen, and hahahahaha, in a soba shop corner!!!" But I guess you can't read tone in text, especially after it gets translated. I mean, I don't know anything about enka, but it's all solo from what I've seen... right? A group of 48 is clearly a joke.
Anyway, I was gonna bring up Karen somewhere on the bbs, but since she was just mentioned in this thread, I'll do it here. As I said, I know nothing about enka, but I listened to her single that came out two weeks ago that Tsunku wrote the lyrics for. Man, she's good. I really like her voice especially her strong angry voice.

Yeah, I thought it was kind of manipulative too and kind of doubt that Maki would have done it if she didn't desperately need some sort of advertisement, but hey. Japanese TV. And look, now I like her again. I guess their plan worked.
I had to watch it in 3 parts too. It was interesting enough that I could've watched the entire 2 hours straight, but I didn't feel like falling into a crippling depression. ;~;

Perhaps I'm the only one who subjects myself to them, but as DohhhUp was dying the only thing being uploaded to it were the video of Mano's radio program. But then DohhhUp went away of course. Well, never fear, Em-El and anyone else who cares. They have started putting Mano's radio videos on youtube. http://fmfuji.com/mano/

Eri has a guest role in episode 4 of the drama 'Nihonjin no Shiranai Nihongo'. The show is about a female teacher teaching Japanese to a bunch of foreigners. In this episode, one of her student wants help to win the heart of a girl working in a maid cafe (Kamei Eri!).
I've actually been watching the show since it started. It's a bit over top and stupid (especially the portrayals of the foreigners), but it's not that bad and it's educational. I haven't watched the episode yet, but Sayu said on her blog that it was fun so. Either way it's going to be worth it watching Eri in a maid outfit trying to act. I'm hoping she did a good job and it leads to more drama work.
It's up at d-addicts.

Koharu has gone to one of Buono!'s concerts and took a photo with them. I'm just reporting this because I felt said seeing two semidead acts together... It seems Koharu killed everyone from that Chinese group... Jun, Lin... and Buono!...? I hate this silence about Buono! actually, are they really over? Anywaaay, Airi is so cute here but the firts time I saw this photo I thought Aika was the forth girl.

It seems like it, which other than the obvious bummer of having the only H!P group I really care about disappear, leaves me with a bit of crow to eat. I was pretty vocal about them continuing after Shugo Chara! ended whenever others suggested the series end would signal Buono's end. I guess they were right after all.

Yeah, I also thought Buono! had a chance to continue especially after Tsunku started doing things for them and the trio started acting more seriously, having tours and all.
On an unrelated topic, BS-TBS will air a Momusu event in 3D. (source) I think it will be an event to take place on the 25th, in Tokyo. It's interesting they are starting something with Morning Musume...
Editing because I just saw a preview of Smileage's new pv and even though the song sounds pretty generic, we get Nono and her belly doing a hot mom cameo. (Sorry for being too sleepy to even make a new answer to this thread for this.)

This video and along with the Nacchi thread is making me long and nostalgic for the old days. But I think I should finally get to watching Uta! Doki not that I know any of these oldies~ But I'm in a nostalgic phase. Also, harmonizing during a live? I wish MM did that... It would be super cute if Jun Jun and Lin Lin sang something like this.

I can't hear the song at all, so I can't form an opinion on that, but YAY FOR KANON'S HAIR GROWING BACK <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... iggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Also I see they're all promoting Cocolulu now too. Can they please do a song with Ogawa Mana too, but actually get to sing? <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... pyeyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
