Ayumi Hamasaki is KodaKumi-ing it up and trying to become the new Matsuda Seiko with Tetsuya Komuro
Ayumi Hamasaki is teaming up with Tetsuya Komuro for her new 49th and 50th singles. The singles will be released in consecutive weeks and, if she successfully earns #1 on both singles, she will beat Matsuda Seiko's record of 24 straight top singles. If she fails, there will be more on her face than pie on misono's face at any given point.
The 49th single, "crossroad" was composed by Komuro and penned by Ayumi. Komuro also reached out to Randy Waldman, an American composer, for the a-side "crossroad" after hearing Ayumi's final vocal recording. Komuro will also compose the b-side.
The 50th single, "L," will contain three new songs and the composers have not been announced.

The first single will be released on September 22, the second on September 29.

She won't be the new Matsuda Seiko in my heart until she fucks Koda Kumi's boyfriend and pushes her to attempt suicide. <3 <3 <3 Seiko <3 <3 <3

Wait, Seiko did that to someone? Whom??
About Ayumi, I wish she'd pair up with Tsunku... But I'm cheering for her! It is a good way to make people pay attention again, her songs have been so-so lately. The last single I remember was Rule and it wasn't even because of the song quality or catchiness but because of the teasers for Dragonball Evolution.

And churn out another boring ballad? No thanks, LOVE~since 1998~ is plenty. Though, I'm still a firm believer that Tsunku produced the original kanariya (not that Jonathan Peters remix/re-release) from LOVEppears.

She fucked Nakamori Akina (Her rival)'s fiance, sending her into a spiral of weepy, sad songs and eventually attempting suicide when the engagement was called off. KEEPIN IT CLASSY
Also LOVE ~since 1998~ is a really really good song.

I was actually thinking the other way, that it would be a good promotion for him than Aya Hirano. And you're right, listening again to kanariya it has some things that remind me of Tsunku. Specially the random guy singing in the back. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lesson:' />
And thanks for the explanation, Special Needs Tricycle.

Bump!
The PV for crossroad finally leaked after the Chinese sat on their hands for a week and spoon-fed us screenshots. Frankly, I think the video is just plain crap. The song is okay and kind of memorable, but I just don't want to watch The Zaki fake burn on a chair for 4 minutes. Or maybe it's symbolic for her career? I hope that means it's over soon. I'm getting tired of 80s rock ballads and up-tempo dark rock songs and cutesy big-eye amikawaii uguu~ ballads. Get a new shtick or pass on the crown!

Cool. An animated guide on what to do with witches (hint: not build bridges out of them).
Like the song though. I'm bored of bland ballads, but this one manages to be actually memorable.

Ayumi Hamasaki's 49th single "crossroad" was #1 on the charts this week, selling 74,000 copies. This is her 36th number-one single, preserving her records for most number-one singles by a female artist and by a solo artist. In addition, it ties her with Seiko Matsuda at 24 consecutive number-ones, which is also a record in both categories (female artist, solo artist).
"L" is also #1 on the dailies with 34 796 units and the #2 is 13 945. She's got this in the bag. Sadly.

Sadly? Lol, I'm happy for her. If it weren't for Daybreak, she also could have broken this record several singles ago. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/meh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':danceman:' />

I guess I'm happy for her, but I just think that her legacy is what's getting her this record, not her music. I just think it's been boring lately and not deserving of merit. Had this happened however many singles ago it would've been with Daybreak, I probably would have felt different.Ayumi Hamasaki's 49th single "crossroad" was #1 on the charts this week, selling 74,000 copies. Yeah, totally agree that her music has been boring lately (last single I liked was Rule/Sparkle), but I guess I'm still happy for her that she sells decently well and can break records. I wish I could kick her ass and just make her release interesting music again. Last Angel wasn't so bad, but the rest... I really didn't like Rock'n'Roll Circus at all, either.
Re: Ayumi Hamasaki is KodaKumi-ing it up and trying to become the new Matsuda Seiko with Tetsuya Komuro
Just last week, Ayumi Hamasaki tied Seiko Matsuda for most consecutive number-one singles by a female artist. This week, she broke that record with "L," which sold 71,000 copies to become her 25th consecutive chart-topper.
Those are terribly low sales, aren't they? Granted, it's not AAA number one low, but less than a hundred thousand is ad, especially since I think L had at least 3 editions.
