Why all the rage over Koharu? Ever since Ishikawa joined MM, something like a decade ago, there's always been at least one completely wonky singer in the group. How are we not used to this by now? Like people said, at least Konno won't be singing as well. I guess other than the voice, Koharu is much younger than the others and it's the BBS's "get off my lawn!" reaction. She's too fresh for OG to come to mind. Miki was 6th gen, but she was still in H!P since 2002 (first seen in 2001?).



Honestly, it won't be that weird. I can already imagine a really hyper performance with Tsuji.

Exactly. When I think OG, I think "classic MM" and Nacchi and Nakazawa and all that. Even Ogawa is a little :wtf: for me. All in all, I'm glad for Koharu and her unique brand of insanity. I just never thought she fit in well with the group.

Hey now, Konkon learned to sing a bit, though only after going to college. I'd say she's better than Sayu or Koha are by a long shot, and I suppose about equal with Rika. I'd welcome her a lot quicker than I would Koha, that's for sure. Oh well, I still think this tour is gonna be pretty damn bad ass.

Sayu has a better voice than Koha.

Aika has a better voice than Koha.

Even this sounds better than Koha singing.

Oddly, I liked her vocals on "Onna ni Sachi Are" and "Chokkan 2." But she's still a bad singer.

I think this is a reasoned and clinical response to Koharu's presence although I would suggest all the OGs take it in turns to punch her in the face, why should Yossie have all the fun.



Comparing her with Rika is a fail, Rika is one hot, sexy babe and as she showed in Hello Morning she has a good sense of humour and often takes the piss out of herself and even if her voice isn't the greatest she never had to be lip-synced in concerts.

I think the reason Koha's voice got annoying was because of Kirarin Revolution. In her first album her voice is lower, and sounds better IMO. But after KiraRevo had been on for a longer time it got higher and more 2009 Koha.

We'll definitely see them perform The Peace at this concert, and Shabondama is certainly possible. Koharu could do one of the talkie bits, I suppose. But then again, allowing anyone but CG to do those spoken parts would be a crime. Amen to that last thing you said, too. As much as I always bitched when MM added terrible singers to the group, there's something to be said for the energy some of them bring. This and, much like Konno, I think Koharu is quite the hottie and actually quite likable. Ishikawa is one of my all-time favorite MM members. She's sexier than hell, while both absolutely charming and awkward at the same time. She has a great sense of humor, and I've actually grown fond of her voice over the years. She is the absolute ideal in Hellopro terms - someone who started off about as "raw" as possible, and came out the other end of the idol machine as something wonderful. She's certainly in another league than Koharu, and I don't think anyone would deny that. Not to mention, at least when Ishikawa was added to the group, you knew it was based largely on her being super-pretty. People assumed this was the reason for the lax standards in singing voice, as she was the first to be added to MM despite a blatant inability to sing. When they later added folks like Konno, Sayumi, Koharu, and Aika - you realized it was something different altogether. The producers, by that point, were absolutely getting their rocks off on the idea of transforming the hard luck cases.

This is true, and her voice certainly improved once she reached adulthood. The problem was, even after her voice changed, she was being forced to do that highly-affected anime voice for the Kirarin revolution songs. While it worked half-decently before puberty had hit properly, in the end it was just painful. I acquaint it to Jaleel White trying to force out the cute Steve Urkel voice so many years after his voice had changed. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wub:' /> Had she been allowed to sing within her natural boundaries, she could have done much better. Not that it stopped me from loving the Kirarin Revolution songs, as they were so brilliantly composed. I still listen to Papancake regularly, despite it being one of her worst vocal performances by miles.
