No one has given more to the group. She'll have the entire year to get the kids up to speed and that will be it. She has nothing left to prove in MM. All we can do is wish her the best in whatever she does. 9th Gen. is the future of the group.

Actually Kanon was out sick. She was there on Saturday but announced absent on Sunday due to illness. Probably just tired out from her long week.

4th, 5th and 6th gen were added quite close together to each other, so, does this mean we may get 10th generation auditions in early 2012 to replace Ai? Well, Reina has Aika and vice versa, Gaki has, soon to be had, Ai, and Sayu had Eri, as their closest friend in MM, so now Gaki and Sayu will only have each other when Ai graduates!

I'm very sad to see Takahashi go, but this was 100% inevitable as soon as the 9th Generation was announced. It was really only a matter of when. I just didn't expect the announcement to come so fast, personally. And God, I was right in always saying that Niigaki will become the new Johnson. Not only that, but she's already accumulated a long enough stay in the group that I can't imagine someone toppling her as longest-running member. ' /> I agree with the above comments that Niigaki will be a much more dynamic leader than Johnson, however, and that she's already sort of been doing the leader work while paired with Takahashi.

Personally I don't mind the SayuGaki combo. It actually seems a little intriguing from my prespective.

I say Sayu would take a 'backing lead' though. You know, in front visually but not vocally. After all, you got a TON of TV appearances so she's CERTAINLY not invisible.

You know I actually don't think that Sayu would be a bad leader, she would definitely have a different style of leading than say Ai or Risa, but I'd think she'd do okay.

Also my thoughts on Ai graduating: ...........

Even though I haven't been around for many graduations or actually any besides the Koha and Jun/Eri/Lin grad, Ai graduating just didn't come to much of a shock to me. Plus it'll be about 9 months before she graduates so she'll be in a few more singles, and by that time the cookies should have gotten used to being in MM.

And I don't want Riho to become the new Ai. But if she does meaning that she'll get a lot of lines and be in the front a lot, eventually people will start complaining about unfair lines etc etc~

Maybe Ukyo means statistically/big picture? Be around for a long time and be decent and be a support person for the group. Not too show-y, but can sort of fill the girl next door personality.

I think he means someone who is automatically made a figurehead due to their time in the group, but doesn't really possess any leader qualities or even really utilize the role? Maybe. It figures that the very worst member of the worst gen in MM history (yes, even including 7th!) would rack up the longest tenure in the group. We brought this upon ourselves!

Risa gets a bad rap. She's one of the better singers in the history of the group, can hold her own as a dancer, and is damned cute. If it weren't for her annoying personality, she'd be the total idol package.

Gaki has her good points, but I definitely wouldn't call her the next Kaorin.

I like her voice though. I've always liked girls with deep voices.

I'm just not sure how a single without Ai will be.

Other than bearing the massive "more Ai plz" feeling, the single will be either if they force even distribution of the lines, or something interesting and with a new kind of edge if someone else is designated as the core singer(s).

I can't think of any idol group larger than a quartet that would give the same amount of lines to each member. Or was there a precedent? And did it work?

Quit hanging out at IHOP, it's bad for you.

I like Ai and yet am somehow invigorated by this development. Truly, it is a new era. Sure, there were good things about the last era, but the last era kinda lost me at the end there. I feel like changing things up is the way to go for MM right now, I suppose, if only because it's certainly the only way to go in terms of getting my attention back.

Plus, if it weren't for puppies, I wouldn't have been interested in Morning Musume to begin with.

I just don't understand the continual negative comments about Duckface's Risa's personality, I see nothing wrong with it at all. I think on some songs she has the edge on Ai as a singer, she holds the top range better, she's a good dancer (OK not in the Ai/Eri class) and when she's not doing the sulky/pouty thing she's dammed attractive.
