Buono! who do indeed kick ass with their live band,
[/quote]
Indeed they do and in fact the same applies to all the H!P acts that get to perform with a band (see Ayaya and Nacchi). In the case of Buono! they are great in the first half of the show working with backing tracks but as soon as the band come on they move up a gear.
This begs the question why don't they use a band for all the concerts, as far as I know MM have only done one concert with a band so why not more? OK paying a band is more expensive than just using pre-recorded stuff but I would have thought it was something Tsunku would favour.
As an aside the girl band who back Buono! seriously rock, the lead guitarist is awesome and I certainly wouldn't object to getting down and dirty with the bass and keyboard players <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/perv.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':perv:' />.

Re: H!P concerts with a live band
The pre-recorded music sounds much more refined, it's less hassle, and Morning Musume have a huge number of songs I imagine can't really be played with a live band.
Well lately I suppose they'd have to hire an orchestra.

Re: H!P concerts with a live band
I imagine it's fairly easy for Buono! as their songs are mostly rock songs that consist of drums, bass, guitar and keyboard all of which are easy to re-produce.
However for the other groups, reproducing the sheer amount of effects, synthesizers, variety of instruments, you'd need a band, orchestra, a team of computers...
HOWEVER...
They could always just do rock versions of their concerts...

My fantasy MM concert would be from 2002 and a performance of "Mr. Moonlight" with a live jazz band.
