Maki was the entire reason "classic" MM meant so much to me (with a bit of Sayaka thrown in), and my utter loathing of Koharu keeps me away from anything she does.

I was never a big fan of Maki, I preferred Mari through the "golden era" but even I can see that "Dream Musume" without Maki just isn't Dream anything at all.<img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... eeping.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

No, but not for lack of trying. I can't say I hate any of these members (except probably Koharu), so their presence is not a detriment. I probably would have liked Maki, but she would probably tilt the balance WAY off.

I don't mean to imply that these aren't mostly talented/fun/cool ladies. I meant more that if you really had a fantasy Morning Musume reunion, most people would choose to include a few of the girls that we're just never going to get - i.e. Asuka, Aya, Sayaka, Maki, Kago, Tsuji (though she's a possibility in the future), Konno, Eri, JunJun, and LinLin. A lot of people might even want to throw in some of the current members. Instead, we just have a rehash of the Elder Club days - "here's all the graduates still sitting on UFA thrown together!"

Japanese sites often use original in that way. Like when there is a new album, they call the songs original. I haven't seen them use "original" when it's a best album situation. I thought they used it only to distinguish that it ISN'T a compilation of old tracks. That's right - オリジナル音源 in Japanese does NOT translate to "original recording" in English. It means "new recording." There are of course two meanings of "original" in English - it can mean "first" (i.e. origin) or it can mean "unique." I don't know about other contexts, but in the context of CD descriptions and recordings, it usually means "new." :)



I'm not sure what that says about them being solos, but it would be ridiculous to put the original versions on the second disc. These girls used to be in MM, but they're not....MM. It would be odd to put a random handful of old recordings on their CD.

WOW Yaguchi sounds awful. What happened? I always thought her voice was much prettier in the early years/Tanpopo 1st gen than when she tried for a cutesy voice, but this is just...bad. Like almost Koharu bad.



The girls sound good, but I feel like there's a little too much....sexy styling? I know that sounds stupid for a song called "Sexy Boy," but the sexiness in the original was more playful and fun. Some lines in this version remind me of Kei's over the top fake sexy poses on Utaban. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol:' />

I like these members (except koharu ofc) but in the end they fall into the "cute but USELESS" section.



Mitsui Aika, Koharu Kusumi, Ogawa Makoto, Konno Asami, Yaguchi Mari, Ikuta Erina.



You could add early Sayumi, Risa, and Eri to that list too, although they went on to be funny, good at singing, good at dancing in that order.



Any member that wasn't particularly good at singing, dancing and not really that witty/funny falls into this category for me.



Kanon obviously isn't a good singer or dancer but she is charismatic and funny.

OgaMako sounded really nice singing. She had a deeper quality.

Konkon had kind of a wispy thing going on.

Mari was great in the beginning but towards the end I think she was trying too hard.



I do agree wholeheartedly on Koha though. The only time I liked her voice was on "Onna ni Sachi Are," and she didn't even sound like herself there.
