They always say this.

They mean girls under different companies. Eggs are already under UFA/H!P so it wouldn't cause any contract problems.
Considering the number of 9th and 10th gen girls that have prior experience, I can't imagine none of them were signed - Ayumi in particular I remember being a member some other smalltime idol group.

Yes but at the time of audition she wasn't signed with the group. Remember S/mileage auditions said the same thing.

Sherlock Holmes Mode... Engage.

Reina wants out of Momusu.

Evidence.

Her lackluster performances live and during video shoots.

She wants to join a new band with a scandal type theme.

Reina leaving would mean Riho would take her role, leaving the Riho role empty.

Karin would join and take the Riho role.

Elementary my dear watson.

Someone posted the fan recording of Ooki Hitomi at the Egg concert done by Karin Miyamoto, Kosuga Fuyuka(the member of S/mileage who dropped out), and Oda Sakura (S/Mileage auditioner). Looks like Karin has the Reina role, Fuyuka the Sayumi role, and Sakura the Eri role.

More proof that Karin can sing! Hey, I heard Tsunku needs a vocalist for 11th gen...
If it was expected that Karin would join MM during this audition, then this recording confirms it.

They have EXACTLY what the group needs right in the eggs waiting, suppin utahime.....

Might as well have just called it

11th Gen Audition - IF YOU'RE NAME ISN'T MIYAMOTO KARIN.... DON'T BOTHER.

I might be setting myself up for a MASSIVE disappointment.... but I honestly 100% believe this entire audition was created just for Karin to join.

Meanwhile, you did seem to ignore my point. If Karin wanted in Momusu she would've tried out for tenth, or hell even ninth gen. Maybe she wants more.

Maybe she got told to wait and instead show off her potential during the s/mileage auditions?

Considering she was leagues ahead of all of the other girls who were auditioning it kinda makes sense....

As for the double post, I thought it automatically made it into a single post if you posted so soon again in the same thread?

The board actually does merge subsequent posts for a short period of time. I don't remember what it's set to now, but think 2-4 minutes. After that, a new post is created instead. Obviously, rob posted after that cut-off time.

Either way, I still think it's worth nothing that eggs haven't been mentioned at all in relation to this audition while they were specifically brought up for the 9th, 10th, and S/mileage ones. Maybe there's nothing specifically banning them, and I still wouldn't say it's impossible for one to get in even if there was a ban, but I do think they're at least trying to promote this as more of an outside search.

Re: Discussion of all of these eggs, what the group needs and what Tsunku says he's looking for are rarely what ends up deciding an audition. While I'd love to see Karin or another talented egg get in, or even just a talented unknown get in, they played up the same ~*vocals are important*~ gig with the 10th gen auditions and we didn't get any amazing singers. And before anyone complains, I'm not hating on the 10th gen or saying they're awful singers, just that none of them are ready to take over a Takahashi or Reina-like role. I figure if I set my sights on a girl that at least has a fun personality, Tsunku would have to choose lower his standards significantly from the past 2 auditions in order to disappoint me.

I'm inclined to agree with Rob, that this audition was designed for Karin.

I vaguely recall Tsunku talking about having a 3-year plan for Momusu, and I think he knew from the beginning that he would have 9th-11th generations pretty close together. I think each gen has an ace-in-waiting, and Karin will be 11th gen's ace. That way, no matter who else Tsunku picks for 11th, the fans will be satisfied.

It would be nice to see Karin leading a separate group, but I doubt UFA wants to pay the $$$ to launch a totally new group of girls. It would be far cheaper for them to place Karin in Momusu, or even S/Mileage.

I would hate to see some actually awesome girls get in, only to be overshadowed by Karin. Just put her in a new group, with the other older eggs. Karin isn't the only popular egg, so the group would do well enough.

Having a popular Egg that can sing and a newbie that can sing wins you both new fans and old fans and hopefully brings the group up a little higher in the musical ranks from where it fell after the loss of the past great singers. But you know it's never ever that simple so prepare to be disappointed that way when something actually nice happens you'll be like, yeah I knew it was goin' down like that the whole time. Word!

I think the group is missing deep voices that really mke an impact like Risa and Ai. So I'd really like to see a girl with a deep powerful voice get in.

I don't want anymore young, cutesy voices, which IMO, I think Karin has.

Plus I'm honestly tired of all the Karin hype. She's not that great.

This. I do not want Momusu to sound like S/mileage, and they're well on their way. I like S/mileage songs but the little chipmunk voices literally give me a head ache. Karin is good and all but I do not want another young'n.

This and This. S/mileage needs to let their balls drop, just a little. It doesn't have to be an New Years Eve celebration, just maybe an octave or two.

If anything, I think they are taught/told to sing in a very specific way. You know, Momoko Syndrome.

I'm not saying they're hiding a girl who would naturally sing like Lin Lin in the live Aozora intro, but it seems like they would steer the girls FAR away from that direction. At least, right now.

I guess it makes the big reveal more interesting when they finally let them do a serious song years later.

With that said, I'm so excited to hear the 9th gen track on the new single.

Yeah, they usually want idols to sound more on the cutesey side (which I don't mind at all), people with deep powerful voices usually tend to be non-idol soloists.

Yeah, idol groups are pretty much always a mixture of voice types, and generally the leads have the more mature voices. Pretty much ever group I've seen has at least one lower voice in the front; AKB48 has Takamina, Sayaka, and Mariko - all front girls, none of them being particularly squeaky. Momoiro Clover has Momoka and Shiori who both have rather medium tone voices. The only super childish voices in Berryz and C-ute are Momoko, Chinami, and Maimai. This is the squeakiest period Momusu has ever had, really.

Yeah but by cutesey doesn't always mean squeaky. Like AKB for example, Acchan, Tomo~mi, Sasshi, Mayu, even Sae have cute voices. MM had Tsuji and Kago, Rika, well I don't really feel like listing people... MM went through that whole mature stage, but as a whole idol groups are on the high-medium side.

Momoko forces her voice sometimes. In lives and Buono! and recent Berryz songs she sounds more like herself and has a lowish voice.

MM being at it's "squeakiest point" right now also has to do with most of the MM members being so young, and have not found their voices yet. Although imo half the members have medium voices (Reina, Kudou, Riho, Mizuki), Zukki has a lowish voice, and the rest (Sayu, Harunan, Eripon) have the high voices. Kudou will definitely get deeper with age (she's only 12 now, like Gaki when she was 12 vs now at 22 sound very different), as will Masaki, as her voice during lives is on the lower medium side, although in recordings in tends to lead tow. Ayumi's is just kind of grating at this point, and Masaki's voice is in between, she's got a medium, lower voice during lives, but higher during recording, which is of course normal, but it just shows that her voice will deepen more with age.

When I think low and powerful, I think of singers like Juju, Nishino Kana (who has more of a medium voice but can fit here too I guess), BoA (I think), Mizuki Nana...

Karin can do so much more than just cutesy, she has a powerful voice, from low to high.

Believe it or not, she actually isn't being over hyped, she just is THAT good.

Yeah the type of song really does affect the voice. You can't really expect S/mileage to belt out to Dot Bikini.

I have heard deep voiced girls sing songs like this, and even their voice gets higher, and I know Kanyon and Akari can get deep if they need to.

I'd love someone with a deep voice, but at this point, I'm not going to be picky. I just want someone who has a good range and sings in a non-annoying way. Karin would be fine, but I'm not going to expect them to add her and get disappointed ... again.

Zukki has a deep voice...and she actually has vocal range to boot.

I find her the most frustrating member of Momusu, because I think she has tons of vocal talent, but her singing really hasn't improved much.

They practice the whole entire song behind the scenes. Just because she has a few solo lines, doesn't mean that she'll get better at singing.

When they showed S/mileage recording their new song once (back when S/mileage was awesome ) they had all 4 girls sing the whole song, and then choose who got the solo parts after that.

I don't know if MM does it that way at all, or still, but the girls do have to learn how to sing the entire song, and for all their concerts they do vocal training as well.
