Funny thing about MMORPGs. Please excuse for dumbler.

Don't play as a girl and don't play asia grinders. Problem solved.

And it's not like the male characters aren't ultra-steroid dudebros.

If you don't play a white-heard wiseman version of Jackie Chan in an MMO, you're doing something wrong.

Wow, that was fucking horrendous. Even if E³ is just 3 weeks away.

This is for sure the worst and most abysmal console reveal of all time. Even more sad than the first PS3 reveal, which was a source of mockery for the following weeks.

They basically had one rather interesting game and there and it was just CoD.

The only really good thing I took from it, is that CoD is finally getting a new engine. The talk about "we could have just done the same thing again, but we wanted to INNOVATE" of the Activision guy was cute, since that's what they've been doing for every single year after CoD4.

The Remedy thing might be interesting, but the coupling with some kind of TV show thing may be annoying.

"XBOX GO HOME" indeed.

You think that's bad? Wait until you see the stuff they actually talked about.

All XBOnes will come with a next-gen Kinect, lending further credence that you need to have that Kinect plugged in to turn on/use the One.

There is no always-on connection necessary for non-online/single player games...

...and you have 500GB to full-install your games for disc-free playing...

...but you HAVE to install your games and HAVE to register them to your account online and, if you want to play it on another account, you get to pay a nice little fee.

Absolutely no 360 backwards compatibility. Not much different from the PS4, but at least Sony execs talked about some sort of Gaikai solution in the future.

The XBOne has 5 billion transistors because that's a Real Metric on Computational Power and Trust Us It Matters. It also has 8GB of RAM despite earlier rumors and it has nothing to do with the PS4 getting 8GB too so nyah.

You can record and share your gameplay. You can also backup your saves and TV DVR footage to the cloud. Sounds a little less fleshed out than live streaming and console sharing.

They're doing a stream for non-idiots in a few minutes about the actual hardware involved and the specs for it.

I know they're saving all the games for E3 in a few weeks, but they should have showed SOMETHING!

You forgot water coolers, because that's totally something I've seen in a household.

EDIT:

It's also really hilarious how they pushed their "everything is fast and you can switch all the time", but then you have to install every game anyway.

It seems the games will be bound to your system (or the main account of your system):

Haha oh my god it doesn't stop.

Game installs will let you play instantly with install in background. There's also auto-resume for multitasking.

Used games not only have a multi-install fee, it can be up to retail price. You install using a single-use code, activate online, and that game is tied to your account. Execs have hinted at game rights trading/reselling, but details are sparse (wasn't this supposed to be the info day?)

XBOne is not always on. You just have to connect online once every 24 hours.

Confirming earlier rumors, XBOne needs Kinect plugged in to function.

XBOne's TV functions use a "pass through cable" function on newer cable boxes allowing for channel changing automatically. With older cable boxes, channel changes happen through an IR blaster, a notoriously unreliable standard in practice.

MY SIDES

Microsoft is emailing outlets reporting on the above items related to used game fees and connectivity/nearly-always-on. Not to confirm it--oh no--but to deny the reports (including the 24 hour account sync from Microsoft Vice President Phil Harrison) because "While Phil [Harrison] discussed many potential scenarios around games on Xbox One, today we have only confirmed that we designed Xbox One to enable our customers to trade in and resell games at retail [...] There have been reports of a specific time period — those were discussions of potential scenarios, but we have not confirmed any details today, nor will we be [confirming those details]."

It isn't true because they don't want to talk about it today.

The horrible news doesn't end !

http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/13970 ... r-the-mpaa
Microsoft has filed for a Kinect-related patent, and it’s a doozy of an application. The abstract describes a camera-based system that would monitor the number of viewers in a room and check to see if the number of occupants exceeded a certain threshold set by the content provider.

The users consuming the content on a display device are monitored so that if the number of user-views licensed is exceeded, remedial action may be taken.

I wonder if the new Kinect will be able to recognize when the lens is being blocked? If the One needs the Kinect plugged in to function, how likely is it that it demands it needs a good view of the players at all times?

The None probably won't work, unless you activate it yourself via the Kinect thing.

It may even disable itself if it doesn't notice anybody in the room.

Well unless they did some serious work on the depth of field, most people won't be able to use it. I've got about 10 feet of space between my wall and my couch, and my Kinect still needs another foot or two to properly see people.

Ditto this. It seems like they were able to up the field of view and can get better lighting using an almost night-vision mode. Clearly, that want hand gestures to still work when you're just watching TV with the lights off.

In some good news, the One will support 4K and 3D out of the box and it's almost nearly confirmed that games can be in 2K and 4K:
"Games developed for 1080p will run at 1080p, obviously.” It will support up to 4K at launch for things like Blu-Ray, but what about later? “There’s no hardware restriction there at all.” So, in theory, the Xbox One could support 2K or perhaps even 4K gaming – if there’s content for it at those resolutions.
It's a little less clear than Sony's message: 1080 games, 4K everything else.

I'll be surprised if launch games will be 1080p at a constant 60fps. Maybe some 720p~1080p at 60fps, or 1080p and 30fps.

But this is of course just speculation, it's impossible to say for sure without knowing more about the hardware, especially the GPU.

As for 4k gaming... uh... maybe diashows ? lol Highly doubtful any game will go past 1080p.

To be honest, I'm just happy they have 8GB of RAM. All the other stuff is not that important to me personally.
