I'm not even sure how multiplayer works in Civ.

Wanted to play some Resident Evil 5 again, so I've copied over my old savegame (I archive nearly all my games' savegames).

Doesn't work, says savegame corrupted. The reason being because I don't have the exact windows live offline acc folder anymore.

Fucking piece of shit gfwl.

I am currently playing Pokemon Crystal on my gameboy color. Yes, my gameboy color still works, along with my copies of Pokemon Blue and Crystal. I'm trying to beat the elite 4 (which I have never accomplished on any Pokemon game) so Professor Oak will give me the ship ticket and I can get to kantoto find my favorite Pokemon ninetales. So yeah . . . instead of reading my book for next year's honors English class, I'm spending my time on a mindless quest. Nevermind it can only be obtained in Crystal by trade.
On a side note, I just read that the last movie ninetales appeared in was Lucario and the Mystery of Mew (July 2005), and the last episode it appeared in was Mutiny in the Bounty! (Ep 20 of Diamond and Pearl, Febuary 2007 in Japan). And those are only minor appearances. Its last major appearance was in Just Waiting on a Friend<b> </b>(Ep 232 or Pokemon, January 2002 in Japan.). Now I want to go want Lucario and the Mystery of Mew again. I wonder if we have it; I know we have Pokemon 2000.

There's now a weekly Humble Bundle, so the site is worth checking out each week at least once:
<a href="https://www.humblebundle.com/weekly">ht ... /weekly</a>

Obviously the best day would be the day the weekly bundle starts (which seems to be Thursday) because of the "Pay more than the average of N Dollars to unlock gameXYZ" thing will probably be lower than later on.

Zelda Oracle of Ages and Seasons are on sale on the 3DS eShop right now so I picked them up.  Playing Seasons right now and loving it.  These are the only games in the entire Zelda series I've never played before, and they are almost exactly like Link's Awakening DX as far as appearance and gameplay.  Amazing.  I also finally ordered Starfox 64 3D, considering it was one of the games I wanted a 3DS for in the first place but never got.

Oh!  And Animal Crossing New Leaf releases in the US on Sunday and I digitally preordered it.  (Which means when TnB is over Saturday night I'm going to have to be lame and turn on my 3DS to download it moohahaha).

I've have been playing minecraft the past few days. I didn't use my usual seeds V or Stockholm and what was generated for me with the algorithm is absolutely stunning! I'm using a texture by steelfeathers...I think it's called majestic and I made a little house on the beach and a small house in a hill on this tiny island. I've also spent the past minecraft "days" making huge post with redstone lamps so I don't get lost. I used a different kind of block for each one.

I found quite a few extensive tunnel systems and one long river that runs though five different biomes. It looks sooo real. The curvature looks very natural, something you'd see on a map in real life.

I've been putting up signs near every tunnel and putting up lights so I won't get lost next time. I feel like every minecraft game I play is a mission to not get lost. Lol.

I want to build a train system that spans at least three biomes and about a dozen house with beds so I can always fast-forward to day no matter where I am and keep working on my train system. I just might put it semi-underground.

I've been playing Marvel Heroes, which is just straight up Diablo: Marvel Edition, but it's pretty fun. It's free to play, although the selection of free characters is pretty light. Other characters do drop in game, but you can also just pay money for whatever hero you like.

If Sony follows suit (which I am thinking is likely because why would those publishers only act that way with one console?) I'm out of console gaming. Because that's bullshit anti-consumerism.

If handhelds follow suite, I'm out of dedicated console gaming.

I'm not sure if I'll ever go PC, what will end up happening is I end up shifting hobbies elsewhere. Which may not be a bad thing in the long run.

I don't think Sony will do something like this. They've made a public statement that they've noticed the negative outcry about the None DRM.
If anything, they're going to make it an optional thing, but in theory that's what publishers could have done this generation already (via accounts and serial-numbers, see online passes).

Making DRM for handhelds is much more complicated, I'd say.

Come join the master race and enjoy looking down on all those plebs. :neckbeardgroan: :crazy:

Don't think for one second Sony won't do it. All this stuff is publisher driven and being forced on the console makers. Do you honestly believe EA or Activision will be like "Yeah, we're gonna fuck Microsoft in the ass, but we coo' Sony!"

You could easily turn that argument around and say that publishers can't afford to not publish on a Sony console. Especially since the PS4 might actually be the more popular one, at least with the hard- to mediumcore crowd.
But as I said, it might be an optional thing just as before with the online passes.

There's definitely still time for Sony to unveil the exact same game licensing system, but these things tend to leak out. All of this Microsoft stuff has been trickling down for months now and their big fault is not deciding how to tell people about it easily. This <del>has always been</del> is Microsoft's current problem across all its divisions: communication. Example: with Windows 8.1, Microsoft is allowing a slate of <10" tablets out which will come bundled with Office for free, but it doesn't start yet, and only applies to "small" Windows 8 tablets, not Windows RT tablets (which get some Office RT stuff) or "large" W8 tablets.
Why bother talking about all of this and letting your VPs do interviews if you don't have a decent communications plan? Microsoft hasn't done anything yet but confirm the leaked details that they called "potential scenarios" to be disregarded.

Despite the horrible execution, Microsoft (and maybe Sony? We'll find out Monday) is handing the publishers the rights to fuck over customers. All of the kind of analogous methods of reselling, trading, giving, whatevs are totally at the hands of publishers to decide. It'd be nice to think that, as videogame publishers, they'd have a modern sense of how customers want to be treated, but these are the same people that work in install tokens, always-on DRM, lie about cloud computing, sell online passes, seperate complete content and sell you stuff already on disc, and haven't meaningfully reduced prices on digital items. Microsoft is systematically passing the buck to everyone who has done gamers-at-large wrong consistently.

I really want to get a PS4, but the ball is in Sony's court right now.

Also, NeoGaf has very reliable sources saying <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread. ... >Microsoft may need to underclock the XB1 due to last minute changes in response to Sony's announcement</a>.
Also in the "news," <a href="http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments ... >Microsoft has hired Reputation Managers to handle the massively negative blowback on Reddit</a>. As if Reddit/the /games reddit weren't bad enough.

A new thread from NEOGaf's most trusted leak has unearthed some shocking developments in the pipeline. For protection's sake, I've capped it and attached to post (because this is apparently WikiLeaks-level shit). The big points are cloud computing as veiled DRM (and hey! Of course EA was receptive!), even worse DRM schemes to be released at Gamescom, and moneyhatting to keep developers from mentioning their releases are multiplats.

Sorry, not buying any of the "It was all Microsoft's idea!!!" talk. It is absolutely all publisher driven. The consoles are the ones that have to bend over backwards for them, not vice-versa.

That guy is legit and has been legit for a long time. He's never had bad info.

On the flipside Al, I can see Microsoft coming up with the DRM idea to court the 3rd parties into making more of their games X-bone exclusive. Anyway, I'm not surprised that devs and the console makers are too happy about Gamestop's billion dollar ventures and want to curb that, but on the other flipside, it's like we're getting the worst shit of PC gaming without the great stuff to counterbalance it.

With the focus on "media", I'm thinking it's less to do with gaming. They want a piece of Apple's pie. "Gaming" will give them a bigger install base than their previous failed ventures to gain marketshare from Apple's media dominance. Anyway, with everything that's been hyped, the media and TV shit, the XBONE IS A FUCKING HIGH END ROKU. #imoutfukdisshit

But you know, I was thinking, and since I primarily enjoy RPGs, for W-RPGs, it'd be better to play them on PC, and for J-RPGs, the system of choice is always the Japanese system.  So I would probably be a happy gamer ignoring the X-bone and shifting to PC and possibly getting the PS4, but since most games are for the handhelds, I'm already set.

(I read that shit as x-bone every single time I see it, that's what I'm calling it)

Just something interesting from another one of the confirmed industry dudes regarding Microsoft and cloud:
<blockquote class="ipsBlockquote">
Its so much worse than you guys think....So much worse.
</blockquote>

<blockquote class="ipsBlockquote">
I've only heard this from one person but think about if MS merged the concept of PS+ with XBLG and applied it to your games

</blockquote>

Next gen fucking sucks, man. :/ As a lifetime gamer (no really, some of my earliest memories are playing Mario and Zelda on NES), this is really depressing me. I love gaming.

edit - for those who don't have PS+, you get free and discounted games, but if your membership expires, you can't play them until you've renewed your membership (note this is the free, not the discounted). So in other words, he's implying that gold membership will offer some perks (maybe discounts, pre-order type bonuses, ect) and should your gold membership expire, you will lose your ability to play games - and we should remember if you can't connect online in 24 hours, you lose your ability to play them anyway.

Goddamn the more I talk about it the more of a POS system it is. But it makes sense. Go ahead and combine your media in it, we can add our own advertising on top of your cable subscription, you can pay for rentals like an on-demand service, you can use our box to watch your movies in, and you can play your games! They want to be the "gatekeeper" to all of your services, not outright replacing them, and that's really how you "control" the american living room. Ugh, DISGUSTING. From a business perspective, brilliant. From a consumer, fucking disgusting!

This combined with the earlier leak about yields and chip problems, it's starting to make sense.
For instance, like the last gen with the RROD - should it happen now and you're like fuck MS I'm getting PS, you can't sell your games back (well, you can, but now you've lost your own bargaining chip. I can't sell my games to a friend to make a higher profit than if I sold them to gamestop). You can't "recoup" that cost that you've sunk into the system. Everyone knows they don't profit off hardware unless they're NIntendo. Like the previous, they'll keep buying more and more systems because the $300 investment over and over does not account for the $600 spent on games and any other media that may have been purchased.

Ugh, I miss the 16bit eras where shit was a lot simpler and happier. And sprites!

Still not buying any of it. Otherwise, MS would be committing suicide if they did this stuff while Sony didn't. Either it's more of the MS hate train rolling down the rails, or both companies are going to do the exact same thing as it all becomes an industry standard.

Sony's still been very tight-lipped and we could very well see some of the X1's DRM come over, but I think they realize the momentum they can take advantage of. Microsoft is so stubborn and unaware of the climate that they could definitely be committing suicide. They think they're too big to fail, but they have more competition than ever.

In other news, there's a surprise Vita announcement in less than an hour (11:50 ET) right before the X1 pre-show. <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/netstorage/ ... ml">Here's the stream on GT</a>. Probably a price drop to coincide with some games actually being released.
